Title: G'dale public land??
Post by: Rifleman77 on October 17, 2011, 02:45:11 PM
Hey everyone,

I used to hunt the Goldendale area a lot but haven't been down in years. I know alot of the land is private now so I was wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction to some land that I could hunt on? I'm not asking for anyone to give up a honey hole I just need a general area. I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

If you are wanting to hunt 388 there is still 1,000's of acres of walk in hunting on the mountain that anyone can use. If you are wanting to hunt 382 there is not very much public land and most is land locked and access can not be gained. There has been a few trades like the box canyon area that use to be public, but now is private.

388 is almost all private as well, Carp stated the only real open area is upon timber company land behind the gates, and that is correct. Just a side note: Timber land that is owned by Hancock / Campbell Group is considering fee hunting after this year is the buzz around here. The entry fee should be around $300.00 is what was told. What fricken next!! :bash:

Yeah Box Canyon used to be the area I hunted all the time so I don't know too much about the 388 side but that's a lot of land to cover so I appreciate the guidance carpsniperg2!

No prob  Most of the low land stuff in 388 is all private like mossback2 said. A lot of ground can be hunted on the 388 side just off highway.

I have heard a few words about that as well mossback2. We will have to see what happens on that subject.

Thats a pretty steep access fee! Hopefully they don't but nothing really surprises me anymore between private lands and WDFW controlling land access. Thanks again fellas!
