Title: geese
Post by: seth30 on October 18, 2011, 06:16:18 PM
What would be a average number of floating honkers you guys put out to attract geese?  I put out 4 this last weekend, and had geese fly by out of range but didnt even circle or look twice. Wondering if I should invest in another 4 or not.

It mostly won't matter if you have a hundred if you aren't where they're going.  :twocents:

makes sense, I am in there general flight path but getting them to drop a little or circle back has been a challenge on opening day.

In my goose hunting phase I would locate the day before where they were going (always fields) and put out 2-3 hundred dekes. We'd call it the "black hole" because from a couple hundred yards away all you could see was black. :chuckle: About 50% shells and 50% Outlaw silos.

That would be great to do some field hunting.  I have never hunted in a farmers field before.

3nails Nailed it !!! does not much matter how many you have ... need to pay close attention to details ... Like where they are feeding ...and setting up exactely where you see them sitting.... just putting out decoys does'nt mean they will decoy especially geese  :twocents: had some awesome shoots with just 4 decoys many times...
