2011 Hunting Washington Waterfowl Contest!
This is an honor system, please keep it fair. Do not use birds your friends shot or the same birds for multiple days. The list of rules and contest details are below. Only the individual or team members birds will count towards there score. Members must be a registered user on the site. If you have a friend, you want to hunt with, get them to sing up and help grow this great site! Ducks and Geese will be scored separate.
Getting registered:
Just post in this contest thread. Choose what area you want to compete in individual or team. A team is 2 members. If you are a youth hunter put a Y after team or individual. You must choose one or the other.
You can form a team or enter the contest as an individual, before and during the season.
SCORING:
New this year!
The bird points will be assigned by a random draw at the end of the hunting season/contest! No one will know what birds score what points! There values will be between 1-10 for each species! The hens of that species will be ½ the value of the drake score.
5 entries per individual or team. Each entry is one day of hunting .From legal shooting light in the morning to the end of legal shooting light that evening. Once you turn in a day’s hunt it uses up one of your 5 entries. You will have to guess what birds/days you want to enter. This year it could be that someone who enters all mallards wins the contest or someone with a big mixed bag wins! It is by luck of the draw this year! You must choose to score a day/birds within 3 days of the hunt.
*To encourage getting new waterfowl hunters into this sport.
There will be a Golden gun award! A separate mini challenge to this contest. Each team/individual will have a space that says GG, which stand for golden gun award points
*This will be given to one team or individual at the end of the competition. That has taken the most new hunters into the field. These hunters must be first time waterfowl hunters. A picture is required to get a point. 1 point per new hunter will be awarded to the individual/team under the GG score.

Geese will not be scored in the contest this year. It’s hard to have a winner when everyone is hunting the same type of birds. So we are looking for duck this year!
when you post your birds for scoring:
Ducks: Please list the numbers/types of birds and indicate H: for hen D: for drake.
EX: 4 mallard D, 2 American Widgeon D
Please make sure you post a picture of all the bird. Only birds shown in the photo will be scored for the contest.
This will make things easy for keeping total. A picture is required, of all the birds to be scored. We want to see pictures! We love them!
AWARDS:
Mostly bragging rights and maybe I can hunt a few small prizes down. Hat’s, shirt’s, etc

I couldn't tell but do we put the birds we want for scoring in here? If so I'll start my count for the season. And I take it we need photo's of the birds correct? Well I would like to have 2 hen mallards, 2 gadwall hens and a hen teal scored. This hunt was from Monday. I tried to post last night but the site was busy and i couldn't get in.

No you can score only 5 days. It does not matter if its 1 bird or your limit of 7 birds. You are only allowed 5 days/hunts for the contest.

Yeah if we just did total numbers h20fowlr would clean house, again :chuckle: SO 5 days with random points makes it pretty fair. When a limit of mallards could be the highest scoring birds.

I thought about it, but Some people seem to get a lot of bands :spank_butt: So I figured it would keep it more random without any know points.

id like to tag along any time. mainly just looking fir an easy hunt to give my pup a chance at some birds and not kill her don't even need to shoot just work her if ya want someone

No permit yet, it has been applied for and we are just waiting. Keep getting those birds and save the photos of the ones you want to enter. When we get the permit, I will let eveyone know we have it and then they can start posting. People can still sign up, but not birds can be posted yet :tup:

It certainly is late, but everyone can post birds and report new hunters they have taken during the entire season this fall/winter.

Yes it is late but not by any of our faults. Good old wdfw took a little longer then we thought. People can post pic's from as far back in the season as they like. SO as long as they have pics from this year and can post them out they will count for this year :tup:

Yeah anyone can get in. Just read the rules and post up the birds as it says and I will get things worked up after the season ends. I will give it like a week past the end of the season for the photos to be shared from the hunting season. Since the permit got to us so late. Next year we will do our best to have it early

Yes no problem, This is a honnor contest so I have no problem with it. Even if you did pick out what birds you wanted it won't help you. No one knows the birds value, not even me until I draw them from a random number caculator.

I will be working everything up starting the 13th. That's when I get done with my big trade show. So that will give everyone a chance to turn stuff in, since the permits came in late.

You should hunt Terwell next season. They must be greater coots up their. The size of chickens and about 5,000 on the lake. You could shoot a 100 plus a week to fill your deep fryer.

I'll play, I should have kept better records, I'm going off my pictures so if you see any mistakes on my part let me know and I'll change it. Other than my first entry (last day of the season and I took the picture for this contest) the others are solo hunts so I can keep my ducks in a row :chuckle:

Some great birds guys :IBCOOL: Tomorrow is the last day of the show. Then I get home the next day and will unwind for a day and then get to work on the contest result. That was the good thing about the random birds. No one knows how to win or what birds to pick. When I hit the first random number for mallard and 10 popped up I though dang! Some people are going to be wishing they posted more mallards. Also the coots!!!! Man a guy that blasted a lot of coots and mallards this year could have won it hands down. The guy who won did indeed blast a lot of mallards :tup:

Mallards should be a fixed number. They have the largest numbers and easiest to shoot / harvest for most. Some areas shoot 95% mallards! Even in diver laden areas, find a few pot holes or marshy areas and you will still pull green. :tup:

The board was really spread with a ton of different birds this year. It could have went that mallards weree worth 1 point instead of 10. That's the thing with random numbers. No one has a chance to pic birds that they already know the points for. Some people just don't have the chance to shoot anything but mallards. So it all comes down to luck of the draw.

hey carp.. I like the random numbers.. so that way everyone has a chance... but what if you did the random drawing at the beginning of the year, so that way people can still adjust what they shoot based on numbers... you could hunt different area's and things like that? its still random, but people can prepare for it some.. :twocents:

I understand what you are thinking. I still think people might be able to win just knowing what the birds score. Say we did it before the season opens and mallards came up with 10 points. Do you know how many people would turn in 5 days with 7 greenheads :chuckle: There would be like a 20 way tie :chuckle: I think the more random it is the better chance for a random winner then a planned winner.

dr.derek everyone is welcome and we would be happy to have you join in. The permits came super late so a lot guys did not end up saving pic's and playing. Next year we hope to get them a lot sooner :tup:

You can't loose that way. What's the limit 25 coot per day. That would be 125 total coot you could shoot for the contest if you shot limits.

Well what happens if the coots turn out to be worth 1 point? then that's a total of 125pts and a perfect score is 350 so sure you could still loose :chuckle:
