Title: Oroville whitetail
Post by: beagledog on October 19, 2011, 03:50:16 PM
Just thought I'd share a pic of the whitetail I got up in Oroville on the second day of rifle season
Not much of a story just happened to be glassing down below or position on the hill and seen something next to a tree that wasn't there 5 min. before when I looked in that area pulled up the bi nos and seen it was a whitetail buck. So I raised the 257 wby and let it bark the deer dropped not 10 feet from were I shot it at. Not sure how far it was initially just new it wasn't very big in the scope. The next morning I went back to were I shot from and used the range finder to range the tree and was amazed that it was 460 yards.

Right in the middle of the brown blob in my scope. Really I am going up in scope power this next year I just don't think the 3x9 is enough scope for that range. Oh yea I'm shooting 110 gr. Accubonds out of the little quarter bore.

You sure your range finder isn't measuring centimeters or something? :IBCOOL:

Beagle, I can shoot mos or better to at least 700 yds with my 3-9's. I shot a whitey a bunch of years back at about the same range and was tickled to watch the bullet strike before the recoil had me. The 257 could be THE hot ticket in wa.

Havenson I hope you are joking, I have seen this guy shoot at range and he is very good.  Him and his weatherby shoots a lot better than my 25-06 at distance.  Congrats Corey on a heck of a buck.  And to think a few months ago I heard this guy say in my boat at the wind "cant shoot no critters, cant catch no fish"

I have to wonder though in the photo, are you using that one tine to tickle your nipple :chuckle:

I'm sorry, but I just get the feeling that this guy is the type that tells his wife it's 12 inches. I'm just very skeptical of a guy that looks to get his jollies from nipple tickling on his stand all day.

Very nice buck good job you nipple tickler. I love my 257. I have a 6-18 on it and a 3-18 on my 300, the best part about the high power is being able to judge the buck. Without it I would have killed a small 2 point last night (blacktail) as the light was fading he looked bigger through the binoculars. I do have to say if you get a higher powered scope the ones with 6X zoom are the ticket, I shot a bull once at 80 yards that must have been a high shoulder shot because it dropped him facefirst into the ground, as I ran up to him he got up and took off, at 30 yards I couldn't find him in my scope on 6 power (the lowest setting) so was not able to put another bullet in him.

Again, congrats on a great shot and awesome buck.

Whatever, beagle boy...aren't you the guy that bragged about soaking all your bullets in saltwater to prevent your meat from spoiling...because you kill your animals at such long distances?  :P

You got me confused with someone else
Instead of talking trash on here why don't you go outside and do some hunting or something constructive

Nice deer bro. you know I never thought about nipple tickling to pass time on stand. My girlfriend likes it so I may try it sometime. :chuckle:. Never mind the haters on here, like you said get out and kill something. Jealousy is a terrible thing.
