I was looking at it online, but wasn't sure if it was worth going too at all. and if you have hunted there are the roads open?
Thanks!
-
Are you referring to the Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Park? :bdid:
Read the regs!
-
Should be good hunting and light hunting pressure.
-
can't you hunt National parks? or is it national forests? i always mix them up.
-
Are you for real?
-
nope, fake. but thought i'd ask anyway since thats what this forum is for.
-
There are some monster blacktails up there. Good luck and please post pictures. ;)
-
Just watch out for goats, and don't pee on the trails.
-
Sneakin in and huntin it is not a problem....shooting and getting a animal out without getting caught and federally prosecuted is a different story.....good luck.

Sorry, I'm new to the sport, and this area. i didn't know that this was the site to ask questions then get criticized. who knew.
anybody that wants to give actual advice and help is appreciated, thanks.
-
Common sense goes along way there buddy! How about reading the regulations before asking a dumb ass question, then you wont have to wonder why people are making fun of you.
-
I did read the regs, just missed the part that i asked. thank big guy.
-
Since all of you wanna be dicks i will help you out. no u cannot hunt hurricane ridge. you can hunt national forest but not national parks.
-
and i don't mind being made fun of, everyone gets it at one point or another, but when your new your not supposed to know everything. Thats why i was asking. Sorry to inconvenience anyone ha

Something else to consider, this an internet forum where nearly anyone is allowed to post opinions, thoughts, ideas, beliefs, feelings and notions. All of which often come across as fact. When you ask for answers to legal questions don't forget to verify.
Good luck on your hunt, where ever you end up.
-
Leave it to a fellow Jarhead to be the voice of reason. ;)
Forests = good to go
Parks = only with a camera.
-
Thanks to all the positive feedback and replies.
and Yeah, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and all that and i understand, its just nice to not get made fun of when your asking a question that you yourself are unsure of.
Thanks again guyS!!

:yike: Was my first thought when I read this, Hurricane Ridge in the NP? I kept thinking there must be another Hurricane Ridge in WA I hadnt heard of. But, OK new to the hunting thing/ area. I get it. Maybe didnt do enough research before asking, but thats why the question was asked to find out. Yep, there will be some flammers, and some helpers. Dont feel bad, everyone has asked a crazy question :bash: before. As stated, no hunting up at Hurricane Ridge. Try outside the Park and you will find deer. Get a map of the park boundry line and read the regs and go pick a spot and hunt it. Its about getting out and exploring, which is what you were trying to do in the first place. Good luck and post some pics, that is of a deer outside of a NP  :chuckle:

Sweet Lou,
Don't take it so hard. These guys have been out in the woods without their women for a week now so they're kinda testy. Don't be afraid to ask. Good luck.
-
It a guy thing, if we didn't like you we would not harass, tease, flame, and etc. you. :chuckle:
-
Yes I do know someone that has hunted Hurricane ridge. My Great Grandfather hunted it before it was a national park.
-
Enough of the bashing of the bashers.
Sweelou: with all due respect, did you know that Hurricane Ridge was in a National Park? If you did, and didn't know it's illegal to hunt in a NP, that would be a good question to ask: "is it legal to hunt in a National Park?".
If you didn't know it's in a National Park, it would be a good first step to look at a map and locate Hurricane Ridge. I can't imagine any map not prominently showing it.
Doing even a bit of homework first generally results in more helpful replies.

before i asked this question i had no idea it was a NP, I did know that National parks were illegal to hunt on. however, i did get Np and NF mixed up. So i understand that to some it was a dumb question, but in all reality everyone on this site has asked a dumb question one time or another so i take credit for this one. I wasn't expecting everyone to make me feel dumb for not knowing something. I'm new to it all, and benig new to anything your not supposed to know everything about it. i appreciate all the positive feed back, and i'll take the negative ones as my initiation into the sport and the site haha. now if only i can kill a deer tomorrow it will be final.

Curious. Do you live out on the OP? My Sister lives in Sequim. Let me know, send me a PM and we can chat about some areas around there.
-
PAGE 34 and 35 of your hunting regulation book will outline the off limits areas. If you can't figure that out, prolly best to switch to a new hobby. You could get in a lot of trouble and ignorance is no excuse. Also asking legal advice on an online forum is probably not the smartest move either, good way to get yourself in trouble. The buckhorn wilderness area is close by hurricane ridge. Hike Mt. Townsend and watch the chutes and clearings on a rainy day. Good luck./

So Bob are you suggesting that asking on this forum is not a proper means to do your "homework" or do "research"?
So in other words go and find all your answers and gain your knowledge outside of this forum and once you know all you need to know then come here to this forum but until then don't rely on this forum to do your research or get information you are trying to obtain.

If you're still hunting by the late season, about half of those deer will move down to Little River Rd on DNR land. Some of the trails up to Hurricane Ridge are huntable. You can even take a dirt bike up it. There will be a sign about a mile and a half in that marks the boundary with the national park.
If you really want to hunt in the park ( :yike: :bdid:) might as well go into Hayden Pass, that's where the monster buck lives right now. :tung:
