Title: Went out marmot hunting
Post by: GermanShorthair on July 07, 2008, 01:08:22 AM
today one of my friends and I went to some state land for marmots, found a good spot and waited and sure enough a marmot pokes his head up. Right when i was about to pull the trigger i forgot the safety was on and by the time I turned it off he was quick to hide and not be seen again.  This was my first marmot hunt and was wondering are they normally act like that because there was alot of waiting just for a couples secounds of one to pop out.

Marmots do whatever they want. I've seen them play hide and seek and I have seen them scurry around in a careless nature. If they're in a spot with hunting pressure then expect them to act just the way you mentioned... You should try ground squirrel hunting. At least where I have been there is usually a lot of action. Find a good population and just have a good time.
