Title: what are your plans for late season?
Post by: D-Rock425 on October 26, 2011, 08:13:22 AM: Just wondering what everyone was planning for their late season hunts? I will be deer hunting in little naches for 11 days starting Thanksgiving morning. Good luck to you all the seaso will be here in no time.

Post by: pianoman9701 on October 26, 2011, 10:27:11 AM: Not sure about late season. Deer for me is by-catch for elk hunting. The only elk in late around here is BG unit and then up to Ryderwood and Willapa Hills and such. Tough for day trips and no time off left. Good luck in Naches.

I am looking for the largest Whitey that I see between now and.the.opener on thanksgiving. Real excited about one property in 124. Lots of.big.bucks there!

Post by: DWP on October 26, 2011, 01:10:47 PM: What I see scouting in the next few weeks will determine whether I am after blacktail near snowline or in Little Naches chasing mulies and elk... I have no late season experience in Little Naches as I have only been there in September.

Yeah, I've started to look at 520 also. It's pretty far from Vancouver for day trips, but it looks like there's a lot of good area, roads, etc.

If anyone from Vancouver wants to team up, let me know with a PM. I'm hunting solo.

My buddy found a bunch of bait piles and cameras in the Sherman Creek area. I think he is going to run cattle through there around the opener. :chuckle:

Yes its a bull tag i did not wast my quallity elk points.

I will definitely keep you in mind, my hunting buddy just told me he is swamped with work and doesn't know if he'll have any time to hunt. I don't yet know how much time I'll have, I have weekends off but my wife works retail (Fred Meyers) and unfortunately late archery season is also her busiest time of the year and I have 3 kids that aren't quite old enough to stay home alone.

If I strike out on the cow, I have till 15 Dec over here to fill it (mulit-season tag)either antlerless or 3 PT .... Saw plenty of cows during the modern over here... and its 3Pt or better then, hope to get back into them during late archery!

The deer density in the cantonment area (main post, archery only) is insane. 200 deer are in a 10 square mile area. That's right that means there are 20 deer per square mile. Pretty good odds. For a newbie. I can shoot 2 bucks and 2 does.
