The thread about which sidearm to carry in the woods got my curiousity peaked. What do you guys have for your daily concealed carry?
I personally carry the FNP .40 S&W with 180gr match grade hollow points, The wonderful guys at Ranier Ballistics started loading match grade ammo for me and I absolutely love it. I have been thinking about switching my carry gun to a .45 ACP though...difference in weight and round capacity is one of the drawbacks to me IMO.

#1 is a Springfield Companion .45; no double taps, #2 is a CZ75 in 9mm big mag capacity hence double taps. I trained with a 1911 while in the Army and still #1 in my book.

I look at guns like a rich woman does shoes......why choose only a few pair.
-
xd45 highcap mag, just in cause I have to deal with multiple A-holes :chuckle: my other is a 1911 but I dont like to beat it up so the xd is the primary for that reason only
-
The FN is no slouch in the mag capactiy 14+1, I have heard a lot of good things about the Xd line and the MP pro series line guns too.

True. However, I don't mind if people know I'm carrying or not...if they have an issue with it that is there problem. Since I have the luxary of livng in an open carry state there are times where I don't even bother to conceal my sidearm when I'm out. There is no one getting that thing out of the holster but me, so im not worried about people knowing its there.
-
when I was able to....it was my 22 pistol its all I got but I am extremely comfortable shooting it....cant carry on campus so open or concealed doesnt matter...no guns... :dunno:

Does your .45 XD conceal well? I am about to buy a .45 XD for concealed carry also. Also, what have you found to be the best way to carry it?
Not very well, it is kind of bulky. I wear shorts and tshirts from about april to october, but when I wear sweatshirts and coats the rest of the year you cant tell. I have a paddle holster.
-
I have the same problem with mine. It's a little bit harder to conceal at times because all I wear are tshirts and jeans, but on the rare occasion that i'm in a hoodie or jacket its not a problem at all. Maybe I will start dressing like a gangbanger and everything will be loose enough on me that you wont be able to tell I'm carrying.
-
In reading through these posts are people just posting pictols that they own or guns they actually conceal? Glock 20? S&W 44 Mag? XD45? Sig 220? Might as well just open carry because I doubt you're fooling anybody trying to conceal those.
-
XD .40 cal 4 in. in a Galco Kingtuk IWB for concealment, hides real well with just a t-shirt. I also use a Summer Confort II on occasion, but it is had to beat the Kingtuk for comfort. A Blackhawk Serpa II when open carrying.
-
Joe e,
I throw a light jacket on and my G20 dissappears. Actually its on my hip now.
-
For all the Glock owners/lovers...What is it about those guns that all of you guys seem to love?? They just feel awful in my hand, yet all the USPSA shooters I talk to say it is one of the best guns to run in the production class.
-
Glock 27 .40 or Glock 20 10mm....depending on weather and mood.
I too have no problem hiding my G-20 under a light jacket with shoulder holster or on hip. It's about the size as a reg size 1911 type pistol.

I've been carrying the same G21 as my primary duty handgun for 8 years. Never had a single malfunction with it and its fired several thousand rounds. That's why I prefer Glock.

Some people seem to have that problem. I love them because I have huge mitts and this gun fits. I love that I can carry about 26 rounds, concealed. I love that I have never had a single malfunction, ever and I started shooting one over 15 years ago. I love that the portion of the frame that contact the slide is actually metal (a friend's sidearm is plastic) and that I don't have to worry about disengaging safeties, but it is still safe. I love that I can carry a round in the chamber and not worry about it ever firing unless I pull the trigger. I love that I can buy two or three of them for the price of a nice 1911.
-
I roll old school, I carry a S&W model 19 snubby. It's the one I'm shooting in my avatar as a matter of fact. :chuckle:

i prefer to take my .270 wsm when i dressed in shots and t-shirt or my RPG when i got my coat on. but people look at me weird when i carry my RPG not sure why tho :dunno: :chuckle: :IBCOOL:

I wouldn't try this at home myself. but I guess that is why we have Youtube. There are lots and lots of good reasons I like/love mine. It feels really good in my hand. Almost natural when I first picked one up and to get a perfect bulls-eye with my very first shoot was the icing on the cake.
I love these Glock tests.

Smith 637-2 .38+P airweight
been through a couple of autos: P64 9x18, Kahr CW40 .40 and Diamondback .380. P64 shot great, but ammo availability is limited and as an all steel gun, it was a bit bulky and heavy in summer working in a gun-unfriendly environment. LOVED the Kahr... other than the fact I couldn't hit a damned thing with it! concealed fantastic, crisp recoil at the shot but not painful... just couldn't shoot the darned thing! had to really manipulate my grip, causing uncomfortable finger slapping on recoil. Diamondback .380 was the concealment master, but it was a .380...
so i got the gun i always wanted, a snub S&W!
for those shooting 1911's, my neighbor makes some pretty fancy grips... http://x-calibergrips.com/ if you're looking for something unique, he's your guy!

I could care less if someone knows I'm carrying in fact I wish every turd in the state knew! The only bad part about it would be losing a little of the surprise factor when I put two in the dudes snot locker!

:yeah: Besides, by SpecialT's logic we shouldn't use hunting or shooting forums either, cause then people will know that we likely own guns and we could be targeted by thieves.

You would be surprised at how little people notice. I had a friend back about 12-15 years ago who carried the same, a scoped super redhawk .44 in a shoulder holster. I once commented that it was really obvious he was carrying it, and he said "Most people are completely oblivious to it."
