So I get a call from a farmer out in the scabrock country about some beaver daming up Rock Creek near Edwall.  The creek is about 4 feet wide and 2 feet deep in most places.  They have a series of small little dams, I counted 6 in a 500 yards stretch.  And finally found the main dam.

I applied for and got issued a nusiance permit for the banned traps.  Went out and set three sets and had two beaver the first morning.  Killed both of them so quick they didn't even move the conibears off the stabilizers.  Next morning I had a third hog.  The first beaver was just shy of 60 pounds, had super nice fur.  The second beaver was average beaver of 36 pounds and looks like a dwarf next to the big boy.  The third beaver had the biggest dang tail I have ever seen.  I wear a size 10, look how big this beaver is.  He wasn't as heavy as the big boy but he was just as big.  I tore a big hole in the dam and so far it has not been repaired.  I think I have them all taken care of....at least for now.

This is the "small" beaver, never even moved the trap off the stabilizer.   :yike:

Not your typical beaver country.  I caught the big guy right below the bush just past the fence.  You can't even see the creek.

Dang that thing had a huge tail

I've got to figure out how to get one in a cage. Are you allowed to keep the pelt when you get a nusiance permit?

			-
Sure, you can keep the pelts.

				Good work! Awesome harvests!!

				Nice catch.
You know what they say about a guy with big feet and big hands, Dont you.. :yike:
Big socks and big gloves.. :dunno:
Do you need some more 330's..
I have a bunch of them..
I will be over in your neck of the woods this weekend and could toss a few in the truck.

Nice job on the nuisance beavers.  That is one big beaver tail for sure.

			-
Is it the fancy rugs in the van that gets you all the beaver?

			-
Nice catch!  That big boy has not been hurting for the groceries.
Never ceases to amaze me what you can see out in the scab rock country.  Biggest beaver I ever saw (by a wide margin) was in Sprague Lake a number of years ago.

I was actually in a bunch of trouble.  I was in the wife's Jeep....don't worry honey I doubt if we have anything just yet... :chuckle:   That nice "rug" is a cool quilt my mother-in-law made me, has bear and deer squares on it, really nice, it's back in the house.  Can't let my mother-in-law see the photo!   :yike:

A couple of weekends ago i was in the Columbia Basin at my bro-inlaws... The beaver ot there knock down corn like you wouldn't belive! they use it for trying to make dams and such... Is amazing the kind of wildlife you see out the desert if you add a little water!

No kidding and as good of engineers as these little suckers are I bet they could build a heck of a dam with a field of corn!!
