Saw a buck like that once in the Wynoochee/ Satsop area, the genetics there seen to lean towards wider rack's. Nice buck.
-
Budy of mine killed a buck that wide and almost the same looking buck 4 years ago.
-
Wow what a buck. Congrats to him. If I saw a buck like that while hunten I'd probobly poop my pants before I pulled the trigger. Beautiful!
-
Sweet Fancy Moses that thing is cool looking. Thanks for the pic..
-
Nice Buck!! Thanks for posting and tell the hunter congrats!
On the subject of big forks, did anybody hear of a big buck that was hit on the harrison onramp of I-5 in Centralia?
-
Wow! Big Buck!

Sweet buck for sure! Biggest fork I've ever seen for a BT. Congrats to the hunter!
-
SWEET - I love big-framed forks (even though he's a 3x3). Nice job!

Here we go :chuckle: if it was taken where i was told theres no chance what so ever of a benchleg....it would be about 40 miles from the coast inn the willipa hills unit and if we got mule deer migrating this far west then we got more of a problem with wolves than we know what to do with...well besides :mgun:
-
I thought that might get something going :chuckle:Yes, definetly a big blackie from willapa. I've seen some bucks there but never that wide. Congrats again!
-
Are you sure that isn't a mulie that floated the river from the Cascade Crest before you shot him? :chuckle: Congrats on a fine buck
-
Its very possible he floated...maybe wdfw is transplanting mule deer over here now...they never seem to make much sense so it wouldnt suprise me...or possibly it was a mule deer with a blacktail halloween costume? :dunno: :chuckle:
-

Yes...I've heard of them heading south on the pacific crest, hanging a hard left into the lewis river drainage, catching a ride on a log down the river, through a power canal, 3 power houses and to the mouth where it dog paddled down the columbia to the Julia Butler refuge to cross breed with some columbia whitetails then making his way to naselle. Just a thought :chuckle:
-
My Buddys buck was from down there and had crabby 3's , 23 outside.
-
Got any pics of it? Id like to see it
-
Awesome buck!
-
That buck was taken in shelton, its just a 2x3. The third point is 1 inch long thats all. It's a true monster.
-
This is why blacktails don't need to score 130" to be big.

:yeah:
Its not too uncommon around here for old bucks to regress back to giant 2 points. I am told it was actually 23 1/4 :chuckle:
Definitely a true giant, can't imagine him stepping out of the reprod and into my scope
-
Dang good looking buck for sure.
-
Nice blacky!!!!!!
-
I seen a giant 2x2 swim across the middle fork of the satsop a few days ago that was damn identical to this bucks size. Big forks with tiny crabby points off the back tines making it technically a 3x3
-
Willing to bet he swam down the Columbia and came North. Nice buck just the same

I've got a 20" wde one....... And a 22"...... A bunch less then that..... So I guess they won't work for this thread.... :chuckle:
-
Maybe we need to start a thread for deer under and over 23" :chuckle:
-
Here's the field picture of the original buck. Unfortunately it's just a phone picture. I covered up the guys face, but that's about the size of smile he had on his face!
It was taken out in the flat sea of reprod that is Matlock, west of Shelton. The story I heard was that the guy he was hunting with had just dropped a decent two point, and as they got their stuff together to go work on it and get packing, the first guy told the shooter of the big buck that he'd better take his rifle with him. Well, low and behold, as they're making their way out to it they see this buck on a dead run through the reprod. One offhand shot and it was down as well!
That's the story I heard from a local. That said, the picture and story were not from or confirmed by the lucky hunter!
-
thats not the story i got...my buddy works with that guys friend and he told me raymond area...but who knows...the story gets changed so many times during a season lol

I don't have a problem stuffing either in the dirt, I just prefer one to the other but on the other hand I'll jam them both in the crock pot. :) I might even try a Blacktail loin Slurpee. :EAT:
