Title: Hevi Shot-Hevi Metal
Post by: DuckDr.Duke on November 17, 2011, 11:09:42 AM
Anyone used it? If so do you like it. I am going to buy a case of 3 1/2 #2. I don't really care about the price of it. Want to know if anyone who uses it likes it. Thanks

Works fine for me; I soot that or Kent Fast Steel. I tried Winchester Blind Side and the Remington HyperSonic to much $$$.

"I don't really care about the price of it."   can you buy some for me for Christmas, you know since money isn't an issue...?   :chuckle:    I have not used it but I have heard good things about it. if money is not a problem then i would say heck yeah go for it ....a lot of people will tell you that sticking to the faststeel or x-perts are the way to go for cost effective efficiency... and that selective shooting is the most key to success, but they sound like a very effective load in my opinion. Good luck!

The only reason I said that was because, most of the comments will be that stuff is too expensive. I just wanted to know what it was like. I ordered a case of it today should get it next week, time to whack em. Yeah I got a money tree I shake in the back yard give me your address and I will donat ea couple of cases of hevi metal  to you, would you like it first class or UPS?  :chuckle: :chuckle:

either is fine with me, while first class is often a little safer, UPS has always treated me well .....whatever is most convenient for you works fine for me. Thanks    ;)

I love pass shooting birds.  The stuff works very good as carries a long way.  Solid shooting load that hits hard.  I have shot 4+ cases of it.

Yep its the best stuff on the market (Both HEVI-Shot or Hevi-Metal). For normal ducks (and the occasional goose) shoot Hevi-Metal 3-inch #2. Very good stuff and puts em' down!

If price is a problem, remember to go to Hevishot.com and get the per box or per case rebate (s). If anybody needs help with the rebates shoot me a PM as I am a pro staffer for Hevi-Shot/Hevi-Metal/Environmetal.

:yeah: I used black cloud last week for the first time and was very impressed. About 1/2 the price of HeavyShot, it was knocking them down with 1 shot.

I used to be a fan of black cloud but after shooting it a year or so I decided it was a very dirty shooting load.  Heavy metal is great just got another case of 3 1/2 inch 3s. Love it

Black Cloud is effective, however it is not 1/2 the price of Hevi-Metal, especially with the mail-in rebate from Hevi-Shot/Hevi-Metal. As an added bonus, Hevi-Shot is made close to home (Oregon) and I like supporting a more local company. Also, I have found that the ring on the shot (Cloud) really tears up a duck (both meat and mounting). Shoot all of them, then give Hevi-Metal a go.

I've been wanting to try some but haven't found any locally. I need that cabela's to hurry up and open since I don't have Joe's in Lk. Stevens anymore and SA sucks monkey nuts. I did however try some of the new blindside from winchester. Box of 3" #2's and they put the smack down on some mallards.

Ya that's for sure, wall mart had tons of hevi shot in stock, I should have bought a case but didn't know how much hunting I was going to do this season.

the regular hevi-shot is the best patterning turkey load i've found.. for ducks and geese it is great reach out and knock em down load.. but expensive enough i dont buy it unless i find it on clearance. the new "hevi-steel' is much cheaper at about 24$/ box of 25.. but havent gotten to try it.

Works Really good, but two weeks ago i had a heavi-metal shell malfunction.  It just sort of hissed and shot out a cloud of smoke.  It was scary I thought my gun was going to blow up.  I had a similiar issue malfunction with a kent shell.

Anyway from what I've experianced they are very good shells in terms of killing ducks, but just like kent they are not all waterproof if you get them a little wet.
