Title: Fellow sportsman has brain cancer
Post by: SniperDanWA on October 09, 2011, 09:03:25 PM
Most, if not all of you, will not know this man, but Neil just moved back to WA after 35 years in Guam.  Last week, his vision and short term memory started to act up.  He went in for an eye test and the doc said you need to see a specialist.  Turns out, Neil has 7 tumors in his skull.  They removed 4, but can't take the rest out.  This is an aggressive cancer too.  I an tell his acuity is off.  Tonight, I spent the evening with him, his wife, their 17 year old son and 200 close friends.  It was a blessing.  He was cheerful, excited, and optimistic.  We prayed, we laughed, we cried, we had a heck of a good time.  I don't know how much or if you believe in God, but I do and I know that miraculous things can happen when two or more are gathered in his name.

For those out there who believe, Neil needs your prayers so he can concur this attack and get back to fishing, family and work.  Thanks brothers.
Title: First Hunts
Post by: Hornseeker on October 24, 2011, 12:35:00 PM
Well, I had some big plans to put a camp in and hunt deer and elk all weekend (thurs-Sunday) with my daughter this year, but some health issues with several family members kept that from happening. Its all good. We will go elk and deer hunting the next two weekends and then towards the end of November also! (We are in Montana if I'm confusing you!)

Anyhow, I did get to take my girl and my little boy (the Springer) out for each of their's "first hunts"... We flushed 8 pheasants with zero shots. 5 were hens and the roosters were flushing too far out! Both Girl and Dog did Great though... couldn't be happier.

I took her trap shooting as well... the little 410 made it pretty challenging, but she busted a few and had a blast. I also let her shoot my 22 pistol, which she thoroughly enjoyed... as well as a couple 22 rifles and her 243. Good times!

On Sunday I let the lil sister tag along and she loves breaking clays with the 22.

Hopefully lots more pics to come with my oldests season... I sure would like her to kill a buck this year...and an elk would be a dream!! Not to mention I'd like to get that pup some feathers in his mouth!
Title: shotgun for yotes
Post by: rebal69972 on October 27, 2011, 09:07:32 PM
the area i deer hunt is restricted to archery and bird shot. last year there where alot of deer and a few yotes this year very few deer. i cant seem to get close enough to the yotes for a shot with my bow and I'm not sure if my rem 870 with 3 1/2 turkey loads will be enough to take down the yotes. i was wondering what you guys thought Ive killed them with 00 but never birdshot. I'm hunting on base so i cant stray from the very straight line they give us. if the shotgun wont worn does anyone know how to get a bunch of yotes to move
Title: westside elk hunting partner
Post by: bankwalker on November 02, 2011, 12:50:02 PM
I'm looking for someone or a group to go elk hunting with on the westside.

I live in Matlock, west of shelton.

I still haven't bought my tag because the herd I'm watching just will not budge from the skok unit. And I haven't had time with moving and deer season to go scout the wynoochee for elk.
I was gonna run into town and get my tag and end up flying solo from the seat of my pants. But I really cant afford to hunt blindly and hope to find something

So maybe someone can hook me up. I'm no novice with elk, and I can pack a elk out whole  :chuckle:
My gas funds are low....but I would rather dump it into a weekend trip with someone who knows where the elk are the spend it all on "scouting" while hoping to find elk
