Title: Beaver bait? The pond type!

  Just curious about beaver trapping and the best bait and legal trapping method.

We just use caster blended with a little oil beavers are very territory animals

Besides the castor based lures which are most commonly used I have used cottonwood/poplar as a bait. Beaver love cottonwood and they can smell it for quite a ways. I cut a few finger sized branches, peel one for eye appeal. It can be a good change up if the beaver have been wised up to castor. In the cage traps a combination of the bait and castor based lure is good too.
