Last year I about cut my leg off with a chainsaw and happily took one of the smaller bucks we had coming in.
This year, despite plenty of chainsaw use, I remained healthy and hunted this guy for 3 days before getting the conditions good enough for a shot
-
come on . tell us more
-
i remember the thread about you doggn into your leg now that you mention it, if i remember right you posted some pictures of you sawed up leg.... well lets see the pic of that buck, we have waited long enough
-
yes, please do tell more. the conditions were good enough for a shot but was the shot good enough for a hit ?
-
I finally got an opportunity at him on day 3 after passing several good bucks.
If I live to be 100 years old I doubt I will make a better shot. 42 yards through the limbs of several trees.
He is my best buck to date.
-
Thanks guys, it's quite a story, but I have an 11 month old booger eater running around and he will NOT let me type... LOL

Congrats on a great buck!

I actually missed my first shot at him. Long story, but he did not come in how he should have... I had to make a qucik guess at yardage and misjudged and shot right underneath him. Thankfully he did not know where the shot had come from and as he tried to sneak out of the clear cut he stopped on last time to look around. My head in the above picture is where his head stopped. 42 yards
-
I leaned out against my safety harness so I could see the kill zone and got low enough to allow the arrow's trajectory to clear the obstruction.
12 ringed him...
-
that is a gnat's @$$ of a hole to shoot through. Nice shot!
-
is that what they call threading the needle? beutifull buck

Thanks, like I said, If I live to be a 100, I'll never make a better shot than that one!
-
Dandy buck! Congrats and good shooten!
-
Great pic you need to send it in to the WDFW for the 2012 reg cover
-
Wow Greg! That's a heck of a compliment! Thanks
-
What a beauty. That will be a memory that will stick with you for a lifetime. There is something about the pursuit and the adrenaline of trying to outsmart a deer that must just be exhilarating. Have just started to get in the sport and missed out on this year for hunting. Hoping to take a deer next year with my bow. The bug has definitely bit. If I'm lucky one year that will be me with a bow.

Great Buck good to hear you either learn to run a chain saw or stopped using one. Watch those kickbacks :chuckle:

Excellent buck! Love the antler color. Reminds me of the Idaho buck I got this year. 148? Hmmm...I'd re-tape him. Looks a bit bigger to me. Sounds like you had a little help on the shot.
