Besides hunting I really like diesel performance. Over a year ago I had my sidemount intake break again on my 6.7 cummins. So I pulled the head to get the intake off and once I was that far I decided to pull the engine. I brought it to a machine shop to get the bottom end balanced, billet rods put in, bigger cam, fly cut the pistons, pin some of the freeze plugs and get new valve springs. Maybe some other stuff but I'm forgetting right now. Anyways they had it for 7 months and I finally got it back recently. Last night we were able to get it back in the pickup and it shouldn't be too long and I'll be up and running again. Just have to get new injectors, new manifold and a new turbo.

wow ought to be a screemer
-
I hope so, only problem is as of now there is one company that makes a tranny that supposedly holds the power. BUT its not proven.
-
Sweet, who is it that makes the trans? I'm guessing it's a 6 speed auto, correct? I know most of the company's are working on the six speeds but there isn't allot of options I've seen yet. I'm sure there will be very soon though.
-
So how long ago did you scrap your dpf? :chuckle: best thing i ever did to my 6.7
-
What was done before the intake split? you didnt list much for power adders in the rebuild. Shop had it 7mo? wow
I love my cummins, had a duralemon for 9 months, pos blew both head gaskets, fixed it myself, then sold it for a dodge.

Suncoast seems to be the furthest to making one that holds. Yes 6spd auto.

About 30,000 miles, went from 13-14 hand calculated to about 19.

It had 120hp injectors, dual injection pumps, smarty, p&p head, smaller cam, side mount intake, 68/77/1.06 turbo. I think thats about it. The dual pump mounts where the manifold split, not sure exactly what caused the split but all the load from the serpentine belt that runs the pump was right there. I'll see if I have a better picture.

Update, talked to the injector company today, my injectors are on the way back to me. Also I ordered my manifold, should be here in the next couple weeks. Still waiting on a turbo.
-
I had a 2011 truck in the shop the other day with no DPF/EGR/emissions at all under 10k miles....the guy left it idling next to me and I had to go figure out why it was smoking me out of my booth. Sure enough, all deleted.
What year is your truck? I can't picture taking a truck that new apart like that and doing it over like you've done. Awesome piece of equipment for sure. Can't wait to see the end result.
-
Smoking or just smelly? They usually don't actually smoke with just taking the emissions off, they just smell like a diesel. Mine is a 2007, or to get really technical, a 2007.5, the first of the 6.7s.
-
I love my 06 5.9. Got some goodies on it to make it run, but it's the last one before all of the emissions garbage. Fully loaded I'm over 19K and love being able to pull away from fords climbing hills... :chuckle:
-
aer-smelly, not smokey.
-
I cant post pictures but I installed the exhaust manifold and got the oil pressure up. Just waiting on the turbo.

How much boost are you gonna put to it? Are you doing anything with the wastegate?

+1
What kind of head studs did you put in? I made nearly 40 psi once, for about 3 seconds before I thought about the head bolts. But that was in a '92. Tougher trucks back then :chuckle:
-
Cool build aer.
Suncoast builds an awesome trans. You won't be disappointed. I beat the crap out of one I had in my '98 12 valve I used for sled pulling. Still runs and lives today for the pressent owner.
DDP or F-1 injectors?
Keep an eye out for EFI Live tuning so you can dump the Smarty. My '07 5.9 is EFI tuned and runs a whole lot better. Unfortunately it's going to be awhile before it's available for my '05. It needs it.

Not sure yet, have to see what it does with the fuel I have available and set the wastegate accordingly.
-
Arp 625 head studs. For injectors I used Exergy Engineering. As far as Efilive, if they had the transmission tuning tables and dpf and egr tables available, I would have it. But they are not out yet and I have yet to fire the engine, so no great hurry yet.
-
Fired it up for break in. http://s648.photobucket.com/albums/uu208/aer212/?action=view¤t=IMG_0158.mp4 (http://s648.photobucket.com/albums/uu208/aer212/?action=view¤t=IMG_0158.mp4)

Ah huh, duel CP3's aye. :chuckle:
Lot's a fuel to feed them injectors.
And your turbo looks lonely, she needs a partner.
-
Its big enough to stand on its own for now.
-
You running the SSR Smarty software?
-
Negative, this is a 6.7. After trying to deal with Bob on a issue I had, the smarty will soon be history. Efi live is releasing the egr and dpf tables this week so I will switch to that. I just wish they would work on the tranny tuning tables.

Missed the 6.7 part.
LMAO.......your not the only one who has had issues with BW. There is a long list as you probably know. I could go on and on. :chuckle:
EFI has their hands full trying to appease all the people who want the programming. It's my understanding that they are working on the trans tables on the 48re for the original '06/'07 5.9 release.
It's kind of tease thing. :chuckle:
You going to hit the dyno after you've shook her down?
-
Now that's an awesome motor. How much money did you put into that build?
