So I'm taking this year to get solid with my bow and feel good about my shots. Also trying to learn the behavior of deer better by reading and scouting more (sadly haven't seen many deer yet but can find their signs easily). Was wondering what books people might recommend to read during the off season to get better acquainted with deer? Have been looking at the "North American Deer" by Len Rue, Jr. Looks really good.
Having been the only one in my family that has really taken a shine to the outdoors I've found myself to be the one to have to figure it all out. Dad's more of a city guy. Always enjoyed hiking and getting out in the woods so hopefully this adds to the passion.
Any advice is always appreciated. Definitely plan to spend some time at Knock Point with the bow to get things dialed in better.

blacktail trophy tactics should be your hunting bible..he knows his stuff

backcountry bowhunting would be a good read too, lots of great info on bowhunting in general not just backcountry hunting.

Thanks for the advice. Trying to get this all figured out before next year. Hoping to spend this year doing a lot of scouting and range work.

With your good attitude and willingness to research and scout, you will definitely succeed. Good luck!

deerhunter that is interesting. I've only ran into a lot of deer on Orcas Island. Have yet to find many in the woods. That could be due to the loud brother...
Hoping to do right by the deer for sure. Trying to get the bow sighted in now and hoping to start shooting tight groupings before spring. The hunting and eating of the game is just a part of it for me. Really its a chance to get back to the way things used to be and realize the beauty of the woods. Besides the game is so much healthier than the "inspected" meat at the store. It scares me to be honest.
