Bragging Rights! This area is to share your coyote hunts and frustrations as since November 1 St I have been going through withdrawals from not seeing enough coyote hunting stories/pics. So if you have some, post your pics and stories so as to motivate us less fortunate coyote hunters this year to get out and work harder. I would add some photos but like I said less fortunate. Fire in the hole.
-
No photos (too graphic anyways) but I nailed one in the noggin at 340 yards with my .300 win mag a couple of weeks ago and one with my daughter's .243 at 250 yards this weekend, both from the porch.
-
48 stands and 0 yotes. I'm on a cold streak, to say the least. I've seen yotes every time I go out. Just can't get it done. Finishing my coffee rite now, and going out to do 6 more stands.
I love this sport. :chuckle:
-
Swag and I Thanksgiving morning did 5 stands, called in 6 dogs but only got 3 killed. Gonna try and put a stand or two in this evening on some new ground.
-
Well just planned my vacation for the last two weeks of December so I am planning spending the majority of it trying like hell to add stories/ pics to this area. In the mean time is no one hunting? I am sure theirs been some fur flying somewhere!
-
Made 2 stands tonight. First one had a dog hang up at 268 yards but was skyline. He stayed there for about 5 min and left. Second stand a bust.
-
Gotten 3 so far ...one in the head with a 300 WSM ...Decaped him :dunno: and the other 2 ...well lets say they were nice ones ...have not went since :dunno:Waiting on some dang permit i guess :dunno: :yike:

Ouch... that is ice cold! :yike: Well that sucks, makes me put things in perspective a little bit. I hope you get on them soon, like have a stand where you get 48 to make up for lost time!

Raul Duke,
You gotta be doing something wrong.....
Find it, fix it and stack em up
-
54 stands ( I went out that same morning & night did 6 more that day). In 15 diffrent Locations. :chuckle:
I think I might know my mistake. Can't wait to get out sunday, and start off the month of Dec, the rite way. Got a few more new locations I still havn't hit.
I'll update it on my ADVISE thread.
-
I wonder just how many dead yotes are waiting in the wings to be posted after the coveted "Permit" is announced!
-
:yeah:
-
Honestly I was hoping to get some posted on this area but no luck. I think the madness will explode once open!

I say you might need to cut back on the coffee. The violent shaking is giving you away.

But I would emagine you are Right 204chucknorris, I could speak of one or two pictures that need to get posted.... :IBCOOL:

Picked up 4 today, 3 nasty first year stupid dogs.....and I mean nasty. Not quite rat tailed but they were covered with creepy crawlies. Finished the day with a big beautiful 40-41# male. I think I'm going to go wash my hands again.....
-
Seen a few with the Mites this year, it's bad in some areas!
-
Ok, you guys completely jacked this thread. Guy said he wanted pictures and it somehow went to coffee and parasites. Gotta love it here :chuckle: 8)

I might as well post one or two of these here, the first is a fantastic example of how much better the Ar-10 works for me when it comes to anchoring dogs to the ground. 168 gr A-max to the back of the head dose have some negitive effect on the pelts...

The second is a picture of my first red fox.... I can’t even begin to explain how exited I was to see this little guy in the cross hairs. This has got to be one of the most gorgeous predators I have ever taken. He is going off the taxidermist today....

Swag, that fox is awesome, just beautiful. Good job
I thought you drug that coyote behind your truck for a few miles, he is looking pretty beat up.
-
Rare they are! You dun good Swag
-
Good job on the fox! What part of the state was that from? (Not asking for your spot) I've killed 6. And gotten my brother and buddy each one. I get way more excited seeing them come in instead of a yote. Well boys I Tryed posting a pic from today but it won't show the whole pic. Not sure why. So ill brag about the dog before and the fox I got my bro in november.
-
Thanks guys, I am really proud of that one...
You are right Falfire he is looking pretty beat up... I really should have paid more attention to the fact I was using the ar-10. It was a 60yrd shot as he was trotting off & that rifle is zeroed at 250 yards, it was a little high, but there was no follow up or looking for him either.. He went straight to the ground.... Mavrick, I am in the lower Columbia basin. I have seen pictures of them taken down by the river & heard quite a few stories but this is the first one I have ever seen... I was especially surprised to see him up in up away from the river.
I have a feeling I will be looking allot closer in hope’s of finding another one. I have a buddy that is very frustrated that I was able to harvest this fine specimen. He is an "OKAY" predator hunter :hello:, & I was only a short distance from his house when I took this fox, so he is eager to get out & prove that he has the skills to do the same. He seems to think I got lucky, & I would have to agree. But I have harvested a fox & he hasn’t….. :chuckle: :chuckle:

thats an awesome picture of that fox  I need a red fox in my house ...I have killed a few way back when and trapped many ...I have one Grey fox mounted I killed in P.A in 2002 and I froze it solid to get it back to Washington...All that was crazy when it went threw the check station at the air port :dunno: :chuckle: They thought I had a dead frozen DOG ....... :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
o.k I am heading out and see what I can call in this morning ....You guys talked me into it :yeah:
-
Thanks for the posts and pics swag as I am in San Francisco

Now I wanr one thats a beautiful mount.
-
O.k I hit it really hard today ..went up around MT.Baker where I thought i would have a chance at a bobby but after countless set ups and walking my butt off I tried one more spot and I was calling for about 10 min .When I saw 2 dang nice ones running down the logging road which is gated and no one has been there in months So Let them get about 100 yrds when all the sudden the wind changed and they did a 360 and headed back up the way they came from So I took a deep breath as the lead dog hit the crosshairs I squeezed and all I saw legs and lots of hair flipping around in the snow :chuckle: :dunno: I jacked out the shell and pulled up on the other one which was pushing 200 or better and squeezed again to watch the bullet hit right in front of it ...dang an inch lower it would of been behind the head :bash: A coyote is the only animal I do not get pi$$ed when I miss but nock on wood I do not miss many :chuckle: :tung: Well this is another dandy and I will be honest with ya they DO NOT GET MUCH NICER THAN THIS ON THE WETSIDE
-
Nice, very nice it's tough to hit them runners. Still looks like he is alive just staring at the camera.

When they gonna learn that they gotta bob and weave??!!!
That is a damn nice dog!!! well done!
IS THAT A TEXAS HEART SHOT???!!!!!!
-
Either that or that dog had explosive bloody diarrhea.
-
When they gonna learn that they gotta bob and weave??!!!
I think that bobbing and weaving is in the DNA of the dogs out here. Seems they don't run a straight line anymore. Sometimes I think I'm better off shooting a round in the dirt to scare them into it :chuckle:
-
:chuckle: :chuckle: Dang I may go again tomorrow .... need to check out some very old spots to see if anything has changed ...alot of area I used to hunt hard is either now firearm restricted or has been developed :bash: :bash: But the yotes have adapted to the situation very well .... may need to brake out the shotgun which is fine to because those 3" # 5 winchester turkey load will seriously put the sheet to them :chuckle:
-
That fox looks SWEET VV!
-
Thanks Tripps, a guy in Idaho did the taxidermy work. Very nice looking dog Bowhunter, he's got some really good dark features.
-
VarmintVentilator, that thing is awesome... I called the taxidermist last night to see what the possibilities were of getting a mount similar to yours & he told me that mine was a little to tore up for that... :bash: :bash:So I guess I will have to find another one...
-
Swag, that really sucks, it's hard to keep from tearing those little critters up to bad with a bullet. Hope you get another one. This one of mine is the only fox I've ever seen on the ranch, but I didn't like him walking around my house and other buildings looking for his meal. (chickens, kittens and such.)
-
What taxidermist did you to swag?
-
here is a grey fox I mounted for myself ....myself myself ...just had to make sure that was clear :dunno: :chuckle:
-
You did an amazing job on that fox! Congrats, here's the Washington red fox i got back in 2009

The best 1 in the tri cities area... I believe it is called tri city taxidermy now but Tyler Ohno is my taxidermist of choice. I was a little bummed when I took it in he another fox that had been tanned out and it was 4 times the size of mine... oh well I guess I will just have to get a nother 1.

Went out hunting with a buddy from work yesterday. Didnt see any coyotes but we did find some bald eagles. We dont see many around here so I carried two of the dead coyotes I had in my truck near their roost. Gotta feed the beautiful birdies too!

OUCH .... You loading V-MAX ...I love those bullets ...
-
Yeah 60grain v -Max's. I was using 69smk's but unless you hit bone they don't do damage. However they shot awesome and when they hit something hard-massive carnage. So now the 60v-max will be the load. I would like to try some Berger MPG's?
