Who has the Winston Creek Modern Rifle Antlerless Tag for January 1st - 16th that are on this site??
I have only heard from a few people. There were 200 tags issued but some of those guys with this tag may have gotten a Bull this year...
Just trying to see what your plans are and if you have ever been up in the area before during this time? Is there alot of snow? I mean I hunt there during Regular Season but there usually isn't snow...

You never know whats going to happen with the snow in the Winston. Its a big unit with elevations from 500 ft down this way to maybe 1500 ft up by 19 mile.Maybe not even that high. May not be any snow may be a few inches.Rarely any more than that.My bet is it will be raining. But who knows. Its not a high coutry hunt so its not something that you have to worry about as much as some of those. But no matter what I would be prepared. If you have a 2 wheel drive.A set of chains for the back and a little weight in the rear along with some common sense. And i think you will be alright.Maybe throw in an axe or saw,a shovel. Some chain or cable and a come along.Just for insurance.
I have a tag for later in Dec. planning on filling that tag on a nice year old calf.
Shoot me a pm when it gets closer. If I have the time I might be able to get out and do some looking around with ya.

You have a tag for Winston for later in December? And ya thats what I'm going to try and take is a nice young 1 year old calf or a 3 or 4 year old cow. Either some nice tender steaks or alot of meat. Depends what I see. The first one I see I'm dropping. :)

Mines actually a Toledo tag.

I will be helping my father with his Winston cow tag, if he decides to go. This will probably be his last elk hunt. :bash:
