So my buddy has the central raffle tag wich allows him to hunt any 300 gmu . He is down to just the muledeer . After some advise from members we decided to hunt the training center . He went there yesterday and was having problems getting acess , they said he wasn't on the master list . What the heck ! We have spoke with a few wdfw officers durring this hunt and often have got the responce " Now what tag is that " "where is it good for " . Seems like there's a bit of a dissconect huh. Any info on our best path of resolve would be great Thanks Coach .

You don't have to be a any list to hunt the training center, they are not the smartest people running the gates. One year they told us we were supposed to leave the guts in the deer???? Just tell them your bird hunting, watch the video, pay the money and get your gun registered. As long as your leagal and that unit is leagal for your buddy to hunt you'll be fine. Good luck in there, the yaks have wasted the deer in that unit. That's why it's gone from 75 permits a few years ago down to 5 now(rifle).

I disagree! they are very picky about what you say you are hunting out there, during my deer hunt a couple years ago a buddy that was supposed to be coyote hunting killed a bear and they had a formal investigation to make sure it was legal... take the regs to them and calmly explain the situation, they're not familiar with the regs at the gate but they'll figure it out
-
They are gate guards. They're basically just sentries. You can't expect them to know very much outside their lane which is standing there guarding access. You will probably end up having to explain everything a few times. They don't even know all the rules for their own job sometimes. Had a few instances where I thought I might get shot for admitting having a legal weapon legally (according to base regs, not just the state ones) in my vehicle. They're almost rent-a-cops for the most part. I do have to admit there are some of them that are great and know all the ins and outs. Others... :bash:
-
considering one of the "gate guards" is a prominent member on this site, I am going to laugh when he chimes in. :chuckle:
-
Just to clarify, I wasn't trying to bash them. Merely stating that there's all types bone. Like I said, I've met some great ones, but I also know there are some less great ones around. Even had one that hated me in NY bc he was dating my ex. I magically got a random vehicle inspection every time I went through the gate. It stopped a few weeks after she dumped him but it got annoying after a while.
-
I'm sure is a missunderstanding and once they reserch his mystrey tag he will get acess , I don't know what the hang up is though ANY 300 GMU ?
-
Anyone can have access most of the time as long as he has his card and his firearm is registered. He will then need to pick which three open areas he wants to visit for the day. He does that downrange. They have certain closed areas certain days.
-
I worked out there last summer, would be great to hunt it. But yea some days u get in pretty easy, other days they are tough about it just depends on who is working I guess. Do they give you a map if you are going in to hunt? thats crucial
-
You get a map when you get your card.
-
It's all about who you talk to there - some of the people there are pretty knowledgable and some not so much.
I know somebody that had an archery tag there this year (not much luck on his hunt, though) so I called well before season (like right after he found out he drew) to figure out access. The lady that I talked to told me only the permit holder could go in and that no one else could. I told her that I wouldn't have a weapon and would just be going along to help and she could not figure out why I would want to do something like that. Told me I couldn't and I told her that was ridiculous. Anyway, she did get me to the right person, the guy new A LOT and got us all straightened out.
Some of the people aren't hunters, aren't interested in hunting, are from out of state and just don't care. I don't really have a problem with that - I don't expect them all to be into it. The only thing that I would change is that if that person is kind of winging it (clearly the lady was) she should have just referred me to someone earlier in the conversation rather than getting in a (rather mild - NOT heated) disagreement about the rules.
When going through the gate, all of the guards have been polite and some have been genuinely interested in what we were doing - never had a bad experience there.
-
I've never really had a problem. Most everyone I've meet out there is for most part very polite and have never really been treated rudely by anyone. I've had the vehicle inspections and stuff but it's no big deal. The only problem I had is when the MP's still ran security out there (pre 9/11) one guy tried to tell me I had to wear orange to coyote hunt. I told him that wasn't right and then another guy came in and agreed with me. Moot point since everyone has to wear orange now anyway. Good luck on your hunt. I know between the Wanapums and the cougars the deer have been annihilated. There's still a few good bucks out there but nothing like it was 5 years ago.
-
I think n AdamR gave you the right advice.
I've hunted there just enough to know to go prepared and be patient and the sentries have been good to work with.... and to see that the guy who was impatient and condescending to them didn't seem to make it through the process all that quickly.
Best of luck to you and your buddy. It is a fun area to hunt.
-
So my buddys getting black balled At the gate by the range officer. He's telling him he can hunt there since he not on the list . This Is BS the raffle tag states that any 300 gmu that allows deer hunting is open to the raffle tag holder from sept 1-dec 31 2011. There has to be someone we can talk to to clear this up.
-
Has he gone to MWR and watched the video and gotten his Outdoor Rec Card? If not he's not allowed to hunt the firing center.
-
It's not that he is trying do do that but the range officer is telling him that he can't hunt deer there.?
-
this is the first year that there was a list but I do not know how you would get on. It seems like you would have to call the state and have them get you on the list :dunno: :dunno: Sucks to have to deal with the bs but the range officers will not budge
-
I'm a little confused because you said "at the gate". The range officer isn't at the gate, you have to get through, past the guard, register at the gymnsasium, regiuster weapon at the police station, then drive 7 or eight miles to the range control. Then you pick your areas and tell them what your hunting. They do the check when you leave if you tag something. If the guard at the gate isn't letting him through, I would suggest he just say he wants to get registered and will yote hunt, since that is open. Then he can take the issue up with range control. If it's range control, then I would be prepared to show them the regs.
-
That unit has been decimated as far as numbers go, not to say that there aren't big deer in there, because I'm sure there are, but I think you should look into a different area, quilomene or naneum?
-
wow it went all the way to the chief of police at the firring center , a call from the captian of the yakima dept of game , two calls to olympia and Acess Granted ! His tag is legal in 371 . have a nice day Go hunt !
-
Don't want to open a can of worms here but its is kind of frustrating how much red tape someone has to go through to hunt out there while others come and go as they please. Anyway, good luck coach.
-
Glad to hear they sorted it out.
-
can be a pain but when you get everything in line its sinple really...some natives have ripped that unit up, i know numerous people out here that say every big buck/bull they have been seeing the last couple years is now dead, :twocents:

Well your assumptions about the Wanapum's and cougars on YTC couldn't be further from the truth. I spent three years working for the Wanapum Nation from 2002-2004. During that time, never once was an elk harvested by a Wanapum. In fact, the only elk meat they ate were from poached elk off of Hanford by Non-Natives. The Game Warden would grant them the meat. The highest annual harvest rate of mule deer from YTC during my tenure was five. The Wanapums only harvested both fish and wildlife for subsistence. The majority of Wanapums have good paying jobs with the Grant County PUD. I know exactly how many salmon were harvested each year, because I was the one who conducted studies for the WDFW. I know exactly who those salmon were distributed to. I've spent countless hours driving around on YTC, and can tell you deer numbers are way higher closer to the Wanapum village then they are towards Yakima and I-90. There is no cougar problem on YTC, just a lot of coyotes. Although I don't agree with a lot of hunting practices by Native-Americans from other tribes, these assumptions about the Wanapum Nation couldn't be further from the truth.
-
Glad you got your access coach, now fire up the spotting scope and have at them.
-
I didn't even know there was a Wanapum nation. I figured when tje guy said wanapum he was trying to be covert in blaming the Yakamas. Guess what I will be googling tonight. Time to learn me some more state history.
-
Very small tribe Clock. I mean VERY SMALL. The tribe never fought white settlers were very kind and helpful actually, so there was never no need to sign a treaty with them, and as a resultthey retained no federally-recognized land rights. In a nutshell, it means they are like you and me. LOL
-
Cool learn something every day. Thanks Bone.
-
Mostly true there Bone. They are a recognized band of the Yakama Nation and almost all of them claim Wanapum but are enrolled Yakama. I have family that are from that area and some in-laws that still reside in their village and just about every one of them are enrolled Yakama but retain their original family ties to the Wanapums. The largest family and the most prominent family is the Buck family and they're direct descendants of the original Wanapums but, most of them are enrolled Yakama.
They get what they need through the rights of being enrolled Yakama but again they are Wanapum and that's what they wish to be referred to as. Through marriage and blood ties they inherit the same rights as any other Yakama.
As I've stated before it's very few Yakamas' nowadays that choose to exploit our rights that do not know where they come from. My fathers side of the family comes from the river, the Wishcum (Wishham) and Klickitat Bands, while my mothers side comes from the Yakama band. Also through my father we have blood ties to the Warm Springs Tribe.
Before I forget and it get misconstrued in any way, I'm not putting down nor saying anything negative about the Wanapums just clarifying some information.

Highly disagree with you about the wanapums, Like all groups of people you have good eggs and bad eggs. And alot of those bad eggs get out on the firing center and do serious damage. I saw one Wanapum coming off the base with a whole buck in the back, and asked if he could borrow a knife to gut it :bash: I spend ALOT of time on the base and see them all the time coming out with "Bucks." The range control guys are pissed at them to. They are constantly finding them cutting the locks on gates to access the training center from closed gates so they dont have to check in. And find them all the time driving around drinking and road hunting of course.
The deer population has drastically declined in the past few years due to over hunting, talk to any biologist on the base and they will tell you the same.
-
Far as I can tell they'd have to come in the backdoor and poach as they don't have any more rights than we do. I guess they could try to pass themselves off as Yaks, but if asked to show a card. :dunno:

They have many more rights on the firing center than you or I. The government leases the Firing Center from the Wanapum's. But it is still required that they check in and let the Military know that they are on the base.

The Wanapums don't need to access YTC through any gate from their village. How do you know the guy you were talking to was Wanapum? It makes no sense! In all honesty if you truely know your way around, anyone can access YTC without going through a gate through a series of dirt roads! You have no facts to base your hatred on.

I know, I did it once by accident when I was going to Central, along with Hornseeker. Ended up looking down the barrelS of an apache attack helicopter. Scared the living bejesus out of me.
I did not know the lease thing. Still trying to understand that since they don't have a reservation do they, so what land is theirs to lease........ I'm not argueing, just trying to understand as I don't know and I probably don't have the facts straight.
-
The range control dosnt keep track of Indian kills. They take what they want.

This is what range control told me when I asked why dont they start arresting the Indians that come out there drinking and driving. That seems like leasing 500+ square miles of area could be expensive :yike:

1. Yes you "can" access it through the village, You still have to check in and come through the correct gates to enter and hunt on the Firing Center
2. You can enter the firing center through exit 11 but they do not want you to anymore, and are no longer giving the combo to civilians.
3. The Indian hunting told me he was a Wanapum tribal member
4.I do not hate anyone except criminals and liars.
5. How dare you tell me that I hate a single group of people!

The range control dosnt keep track of Indian kills. They take what they want.
Range control wants hunters to give a tooth off the animal harvested for study by the biologist, and many Indain hunters abide by this.

I missed your post Plat. Thanks for that clarification. That makes sense.

My "assumptions" come from a friend that has worked and hunted out there for several years. Maybe I have the Wanapum's confused with another band but regardless the consensus I hear from everyone is the tribes have had a huge effect on the deer numbers out there. And yes, there are a number of cougars out there.

Plateau good info. Thank you for the education and history. Very interesting.
-
It will be a cold day in hell before I go back in there !
-
How did it go coach? Did you see anything at all?
-
How many flats did you have?
-
no flats bone , the mud terrans at 40 psi worked good . will saw some spectacullar roads one was so steep there was no stopping . the areas we were in were devoid of deer , we onlysaw six deer in 12 hours of glassing , either is been hit hard or i wasn't any where near the right spot. i talked to a guy that hunts birds in there ans he said he hadn't seen a good buck in two years . i geuss a couple good bucks can hide in 500 square miles pretty easilly .

:hello: thanks new one to me :hello:

Me too getting shoulder mounted
-
So Coach what did you guys end up doing? No more firing center hunts?
-
Just to clarify, the Wanapums can access the YTC from the village. A quick phone call to the YTC with a description of the vehicle, how many people, and what general area is all they report. They aren't required to report how many bucks/bulls are taken. And Chad S. I don't know what thier harvest was like when you worked with them, but that is not the case now. Numerous bucks and bulls are taken from the YTC by the Wanapum Tribe. However, I don't think I would put all the blame on them for low deer counts. They aren't the only tribe that hunts the YTC. And some of the blame should go to WDFW for all the tags given a few years ago. :twocents:

But out of those 50 tags how many hunters actually filled their tags. I know for a fact that more than 50 bucks get taken from the firing center by indians. I know one, not going to say names, who killed 30 bucks himself off the firing center in 2009

Not saying it couldnt happen do i think it did? no. In my opinion we should turn the harvest reports into Yakama Nation Wildlife. 30bucks thats *censored*.
-
30 bucks.lol yeah right.
-
OIC YAK
-
Nice Buck hairtrigger, congrats!.
-
OIC YAK
It got pulled anyway you cant bash NDN to NDN. lol
-
oh yeah btw. nice buck
-
We dont have many halls passes left so We are going to concentrate in a different area .
-
Nice buck. I agree he doesn't look like a high 170s to me but he is a nice heavy mature buck. Congrats.
Bigtine, I find it very hard to believe that one indian took 30 bucks from the firing center. Collectively yes, but not one Indian. If hair trigger says it was fair chase how can you question him?. Even if the buck was close to a road I doubt there are many people that would pass on him just because he was within a few hundred yards of a dirt road.
-
Its a rough score I didn't score it tha taxidermist did a kinda quick one
-
Nice buck regardless and who cares if it was NEAR the road. If I turned the corner and seen him standing near the road I would've harvested him to. I think this gentleman showing a picture of the buck he harvested out there is proof enough that there are bucks of this caliber out there and weren't slaughtered by the truck load by the "Indians". And I trust his word stating the score because it looks pretty close to me.
-
I don't know how far off the road he was cause I couldn't see tha truck my guess would be 800 yards or so he was just under 300 when I shot him 7mm 165 gr grand slam hand loads same load I used on my ram
8) :IBCOOL:

:twocents: It's pretty sad when so many individuals blindly claim some sort of unethical hunting when a "native" posts harvests on this website. Actually I am growing pretty tired of it, as a newer member. I can understand frustrations with the few rotten apples out there, but to see some of the accusations thrown about in these posts is absurd and somewhat ignorant.
-
Hairtrigger,
Nice! I sure love the bases on your ram. Who cares what your buck scores. He is a dandy.

Thanks for tha congrats was an awesome hunt I will never forget mos def an groundhog the bases are 15 1/2 both are bout that need to get him.scored my taxidermist says in the 160s but I don't know first time I ever shot one
-
Who cares how far off the road it was or what it scored it's a very nice buck. I think some of you guys can understand though why someone would be a little bitter. Myself, I have been trying to draw the YTC tag for about 10 years now and it's frustrating to see people just go out there anytime they like year after year while at the same time watching tag numbers fall to next to nothing. I know it's not your fault, it's your right and that's just the way it is. I would probably do the same thing. But when you have a privilege that others do not simply because that's what you were born into, you are going to have to expect some animosity and jealousy. Especially if people feel like those privileges are being flaunted. That's just the way that is. But anyway, congrats on the nice animals.

The only unethical part about this is he doesn't have to wait 3,6 8 years to wait to draw a tag or when he finnally does draw have a limited amount of time to hunt. I consider myself a very dedicated hunter, I put everything into hunts when I do finnally get drawn. Now if I could hunt the way the tribes do, and I chose to, I could cover this web site with pictures of all kinds of animals. Now it's a nice deer but what sucks is he can turn around and go kill 20 more if he wants and even if it was against his tribes rules the state could do nothing to him. Not saying he is that type of guy but when an indian post his kills on the site most of us are thinking, big f'n deal, cause he has every chance in the world to kill any animal he wants. Thank god we all don't have those privlages. Again, nice buck but if we all had your rights then you wouldn't see an animal out there.
-
there is nothing "unethical" as you put it about that hunt at all.
-
I didn't see anything wrong with him sharing his harvest and I nor for that matter any other Tribal Members that are forum members here post all kinds of pictures of animals. The only ones I've seen posted were by non-members showing "unethical" Tribal Hunters but not anybody here now or for that matter since I've been here.
-
LIKE I SAID MY ONLY "FOURTH" TIME OUT THERE
-
I know a farmer that's been drawn like 4 times with how ever the point system works now tell me how unethical is that its not fair to you guys at all. Also the guy I turned the teeth into.even stated "seems like the same ones get drawn out here an wished he could be drawn one day"
-
I think this might be him :dunno: Was he still in 10?
-

First of all, I wouldn't call anything you did unethical. And I also know a few people that have been drawn multiple times out there while I on the other hand have never been drawn. But, we are all still playing by the same rules and I guess they are just plain lucky. Where as the tribes play by a completely different set of rules. Apples and oranges. But it is what it is.
-
Agreed as far as not being unethical and it appears by the pics provided there are bucks out there that are of trophy caliber. Those that have the tag should take that as incentive to keep their hopes up and keep looking.
-
Huh tha only thing unethical was sharing my pic a :dunno:n harvest
-
I think this might be him :dunno: Was he still in 10?
Nope eight far east side the one in your pics looks like it has way better forks
-

SSsshhh...now everybody knows where your honey holes are and that's where their gonna start heading! :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
Your harvest and the other pics are enough proof for me to determine there are quality bucks still there and you just have to find them in the right locations at the right time.
-

Im 99.9% sure its him kicker on right 2 is same and the forks are the same one small eye gaurd and we guessed him at 30"
-
I think this might be him :dunno: Was he still in 10?
Thats exactly the same buck. that back left fork is identical. those forks are not way bigger than his buck.
-

Quick question, what's the "censored" for? I put SSssshhhh...as in "quiet" not as profanity and it was meant as a joke that's why I've got all the smiley faces at the end?

probably thought you were gonna say s h i t
-
probably thought you were gonna say s h i t
Yeah, I was thinking it but you were saying it! :chuckle: Oh well I was just curious not trying to make a big deal about, thanks kirk.
-
Huh hard for me to tell I'm on my phone will havta look on a bugger screen cause I can't see the kicker on your picture
-
hes a dandy I wish we could have got him with a rifle but we had the archery tag and could not close the distance in the open :bash: :bash:
-
Got him while the modern firearm was going on too there was like six people that went in before we did none of them enrolled
-
Hunting the training center is a piece of cake, once you jump through the hoops, get your rec card [$20], register your weapons with the police, vehicle pass, clear range control, this may sound like alot of BS but once you have your ducks in line it is pretty smooth to get hunting. If you tried to do this all in ONE day, then yes I can see your frustration, just think of hunting 371 as all private property and you just need permission, and hunt it the way the owner wants you to hunt there.....big bucks and bulls are still there! IMO the hair loss did more to knock the numbers down more than anything else.
Execellent buck, Hairtrigger!!!
-
s h o o t s h o v e l and s h u t up
I believe it was set to weed that out

Is s s s a bad word now? I guess if you guys decide it is then it is huh?
-
A real trophy buck glad you posted it and welcome to the site.
-
Hairtrigger, I never said what you did was unethical. You are an indian you have the right to hunt when and where you want within your hunting area, and if someone has a birthday or death then your season could be year round. That's whats unethical. But we've all gone round and round on that subject. I was only saying, nice deer but you could get deer like that every year or really every day if you hunted hard enough in that unit. I find it very hard to say congrats when so many other non indians in our state wait a very long time to hunt there. Especially in a place where the indians have caused our tags to go from 75 to 5 for rifle in just a few short years. Hair loss..... not even close to the reason why the bucks have been wiped out.
-
Yup them damn Indians need to go back to India lol killing all tha animals an every birthday damn that's 10000 a year holy cow Batman wow an you gotta bring up deaths that's major one there that shouldn't even be said an all them animals don't come off tha ceeded area maybe if you seen a ceremony you'd have a better understanding
:bdid:
Bringing lost ones into this
-
it will never be understood. some just dont get it haritrigger.

You saying that you don't kill animals or have the right to kill animals when someone has a birthday or funeral? I have been to a funeral, you have the same respect for life as we do I assume! You think you have more respect for the dead because you an indian? Whatever.
-
igotbulls, do you have any pic's of that big bull that was killed in the shed this year by you guys?? I heard it was around 360+
-
we didnt kill a bull this year. tried. but no success.
-
actually we ve never killed a bull in the watershed. never even hunted it before.
-
actually we ve never killed a bull in the watershed. never even hunted it before.
Are we talking about the same shed? Green river watershed?
-
nope. we r umatilla. cant hunt over there.
-
My bad, I thought you were a guy I had talked to before from the muckleshoot tribe.
-
no biggy. its just sad that with all that goes on with this forum that a tribal member has to defend his hunting after he posts pics of a nice animal hes taken. we cant even show pics of our hunts without some type of negativity.
-
Don't see anywhere where I said about more or less respect its just different for us we don't talk of them anymore they are gone that is just how we do it an no not for every birthday lol like I said that'd 10000 + birthdays lol an not all natives hunt one fact I hunt on my birthday as it is in the middle of October an I do it in tha closed area here on tha rez FACTS BEFORE SPEAKIN JIBBERISH
-
I just have very strong feelings about the differences between you and I when it comes to hunting rights (which I call hunting wrongs). It will always be a wedge between our cultures. I appreciate a good hunt and effort, trust me. But you guys have no rules compared to us and that will always keep us at odds. Will I go to battle beside you to protect our freedom...NO doubt, but until we are measured the same at every aspect there will always will frustration between us when it comes to our hunting.
-
Huh didn't know we didn't have any rules wow new one on me dang oh wait I forgot JIBBERISH
-
Huh didn't know we didn't have any rules wow new one on me dang oh wait I forgot JIBBERISH
Your rules are like someone writing a special permit out on a piece of paper with a crayon, I have to get up early and work so I guess we'll talk later.

Nice Buck HairTrigger...Congrats!

Really???? I am not native, so how can you presume to think there is a wedge between my culture and native cultures? Maybe you should have said "I will never agree with the hunting rights granted to natives, and as such there will always be a wedge between myself and natives".
-
:yeah:
exactly everything I said to him is what he was sayin to me just proving him wrong is all he is tha mad one not me
-
Huh didn't know we didn't have any rules wow new one on me dang oh wait I forgot JIBBERISH
Compared to what us non-natives have to follow The Yakama's have hardly any rules when it comes to big game hunting. Ever compared the state's reg book to your's?

:yeah:

in my mind all i can think about is all they are thinking is had a ball killed them all. :yike: :yike: why cant we all preserve what we all love to enjoy?

the system sucks. :twocents: :twocents:

I'm going out on limb here... a very thin a non-PC limb, but the way I see it, if natives get to hunt the given seasons that they do, they should have to use traditional native american hunting equipment. The white man gave you automobiles, fair enough. We gave you firearms, you lost. I would love to see a native stalk withing traditional archery range of an buck, let alone the BRUISERS they've been posting using the so HATED WHITEMAN technology... Funny thing is, the whitemant is becoming the better hunter because we have to take time off of work to scout, and then take additional time off just to hunt.
-
I have a feeling the replies plus PMs I get won't be to pleasant, but I feel I am speaking the truth, to hell with being PC anymore, it's making this country weak.
-
Huh someone flunked history or got the wrong information lol funny stuff an wow if no one adapted to current times lol we would still be caveman status  an no one gave me anything I have I WORKED FOR ALL OF IT act like none of us work lol oh yeah wait that's tha part they don't teach in history lol

funny thing is you have no idea what your talking about. see the bruiser on my profile. archery. national forest. so there goes your theroy of the lazy native. but im sure you ll have an excuse of how easy it was to take that buck. i dont hate technology. and im sure none of the tribal members on here do either. hence the computer we are using to constantly have to defend ourselves instead of just being able to talk about hunting and look at some nice pics

Not going to go down that road. As long as tribal hunting is done in a ethical manner I don't care how it's done. And like someone said before, there's bad apples on both sides. My only issue is the seasons they get. Or lack there of. People hunting in premium areas year after year that takes someone like me a decade to draw. But like I said before, it is what it is and I just have to deal with it. But that doesn't mean I have to like it. I still don't think it's right. And until the playing field is leveled across the board for everyone, you will not convince me otherwise. Nothing directed personally at any of the NA's on this site. From what I've seen you are all good guys and ethical hunters. I'm unhappy with the system in place, not to people.

:yeah:
I wish you guys would post more pics as I love seeing pics of harvests. No matter how big or small. Especially the stories that go with it. But I can understand why many of you don't post because it often turns into a :crap: show and you have to defend what you did. I think Coastal is the only one that posts pictures and stories. I wish Plateau would post a picture of his bull but I understand why he wont (He shot it at Northwest Trek :chuckle: ) Yes there are things that need to change, but why attack a guy that has killed an animal legally just because he is an Indian? Remember that its his legal right to do so. Blame the WDFW if you want to blame someone. :twocents:
But then again it seems we bash each other too. Oh where's the hunter orange, or oh it was a 70yds shot with a bow, or a 600yd shot with a rifle etc etc etc. Can't someone post a picture of an animal with a story without getting beat up. :dunno:
Hairtrigger that is an awesome buck and a really good picture. Do you have any pictures of your ram?
-
Couldn't agree more Clock, and maybe someday I will share some pics but, until then I'll wait. I believe he posted pics back in late Oct. in the other big game section? I don't recall the name of the thread but there were some good pics in there.
Northwest Trek :yike: Of all places!!! You must've seen me running around in my breach-cloth when you were flying over dropping off....uummm...nevermind. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I respect the fact that you took the animal with archery equipment and on public land, but during what time was this animal harvested and in what GMU? If you took it during a general archery season in a GMU all could hunt, awesome and much respect.
-
Huh someone flunked history or got the wrong information lol funny stuff an wow if no one adapted to current times lol we would still be caveman status  an no one gave me anything I have I WORKED FOR ALL OF IT act like none of us work lol oh yeah wait that's tha part they don't teach in history lol
Nice Ram you have as your avatar? You have to get drawn for that?

Now we have to answer all the questions that so many on here claim to be a waste of time?? :chuckle:
-
to tell ya the truth clark33 i have no idea what season was goin on when it was taken. it was november. in oregon. so i dont know the gmu either. those things are not relevent when im hunting in the ceded area.

I think thats the point hes trying to prove, and you just proved it to him.
-
:yeah: :bash:
-
well boo whoo. what do you expect us to do? we go and hunt archery, make a stalk, kill a nice buck. oh but wait. we arent as good of hunters because our season is longer. yeah right. most of us tribal hunters come from generations of great hunters who have been hunting the areas we hunt for hundreds of years. we know the land the animals and their patterns. but none of that matters i guess because our seasons and harvest methods are different than yours.
-
I think that's a sweat buck. Especially with a bow. Nothing is easy with a bow. Relax guys. The fight isn't with him or guys who go off tje road. I saw Congrats nice buck and I'm sure well earned.
If you are pissed go up Bald Mountain roD and take pics of the slaughter going on. Or follow that POS Phil Lancaster around. Do something about it. I'm not gonna beat up a guy with a bow kill. Now road hunting with a rifle in the winter range or ny tje feed station then yes I will. But just my .02 dollars. You are all entitled to your opinion.
-
I try not to get involved in these debates but if I could hunt the "patterns" (wintering grounds) I would be able to kill big animals also. This is a poor argument to your rights to hunt because my father has taken me hunting since I could walk and I dont get an unlimited season. :twocents:
-
i dont hunt "wintering grounds" and i wasnt arguing my rights. dont have to. just describing the hunt. but oh my god its so easy. lol. ive been in an areas hunting right along with the state hunters too. and watched them walk right by harvestable animals and then talk to them later and listen to them complain about not seeing any game. its laughable. and its not about killing big animals either. did not harvest a branch antler animal this year. like colock says, go after the alledged poachers that are taking more than there share. the tribes will not condone a member shooting multiple BA animals just for the fun of it. ive seen rights taken away for alot less. :twocents:
