Just wondering if anyone has seen the pics of the huge buck killed this archery season? I got a pic sent to me, saying that it might be the new WA State Record!! IT IS HUGE! I looked around here but didnt see it so.... thought id ask. I got a pic on my phone will post if its not on here.
-
I am pretty sure I know the one your referring to, but its not 226" tho
-
I have a back veiw of it its big.
-
Send me the pictures. I am interested in seeing them
-
Whitetail or muley? Pictures please?
-
was it a late permit hunt or a general hunt?
-
I don't think I have seen anything close to breaking any records.
-
This one was sent to me..
Bow kill I believe. Photo angle sucks...
-
Without more pics I can't tell for sure, but the right side beam has a strong similarity to the trail cam pics DBhawthorne has, if it is i hope he's on here soon with a story and pic of him getting it!!
Edit: I am 99% positive, its that buck.
-
Looks like the same buck to me! Who's the lucky hunter, DB or Brian?
-
Great buck. Congrats to the hunter. Is this the buck referred to as potential state record?
-

That's what i'm saying, who got him? I'm excited for whoever either way, and can't wait to hear the story.
-
Its not my buck or my story i just got a cell phone pic sent to me, not from the hunter. The buck that was just posted is not the same buck! Great buck but not near as big! Not sure if it was a permit hunt or what, just got the pic and heard it might be a record.
-
Post the pick up Tommy! Is it a Muley or Whitetail?
-
it is a white tail. a big one at that! was just trying to post pic,
-
Are you guys talking about the Chevy truck with the winch in the rear bumper? My pard says its shy of 190" by a fuzz.

That definately looks like the buck DB was hunting. Might explain why you havent gotten any trailcam pics since the 15th. To bad you werent the lucky hunter. :sry:

elkslayer pm sent

Ya that one in the Chevy pick up is a hog to. I heard the same on him, just shy of 190. That buck was also a rifle kill and not archery.
-
:chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:just noticed i posted this in the wrong spot!! :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
What is the current WA state record whitetail? :dunno:
-
not sure if this worked! here is the pic i got, no story that i can tell cause its not mine, and i dont want to give anyones spot away, (or get the crowd) :chuckle:
-
I got that same pic and that buck is huge. I heard a area but not sure if it was the true area.
-
  Holy Crap!! If that is a Washington archery kill I would say it is definately a new record.
-
:yike:
-
I heard a rumor of a monster coming out of the Ione area, not sure if thats him
-
wow that is a stud, i wonder what the whole story is? awesome deer either way.
however i want to hear about the other deer posted on page one as well.......
-
im sure he is at a taxadermy shop now! if not he should be!

Did you get the archery bull from the same area? That is a ripper of a bull.

 Thats a PIG!!!!
-
What is the current WA state record whitetail? :dunno:
i think the typical is 181 7/8
and the nontypical is 234 4/8
-
I did not kill the buck but I learned of his demise at the hands of a deserving hunter. R.I.P. big boy. The other buck is not a WA buck. It is the Amish Buck that was killed in Adams County Ohio by John Schumucker back in 2006. It netted 295 7/8 and is the seventh largest free ranging whitetail ever recorded. Absolutely a giant.
-
The WA state Records (All Methods) is:
Typical: 200 3/8 / Stevens County / James Cartwright / 1992
Non-Typical: 236 3/8 / Pend Orielle County / John Gretener /1931
The Cartwright buck is currently the 13th largest buck ever recorded in the B&C record book. I wrote an article on the buck that appeared in the December 2010 / Jan 2011 issues of North American Whitetail.
You can read the story (without pics) here: http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Not+forgotten%3A+nearly+two+decades+after+James+Cartwright+brought+down...-a0243718808

Not the news I was hoping to hear DB. Do you think we will see a write up on the buck on here, (if they arent a member could you coax them to do so)? Its great to see a whitetail of that caliber in WA state.
-
Not for now. The hunter is very humble and wishes to remain discrete.
I agree it is very promising to know that WA holds animals like these. The Typical I mentioned in my post above is a good example of what this place is capable of producing if they are given the time to grow.
-
Congrats to the hunter on a great buck
-
Something that is not well known....Stevens County actually ties several other counties (in the nation) for 18th place all time in the Boone and Crockett Record books for non-typical whitetail. If you take into consideration two other whitetail that are from Stevens County but listed as Hunters and Loon Lake then Stevens County ties two other counties in the nation for 14th all-time non-typicals..... So the possibilities for world class animals here is very real!!
-
Oh yeah... Stevens county.. 'Public land', Without being too specific does have the makings of some monster bucks. In 2004 and 2006 my son and brother'n law (veteran hunter that knows what he's looking at), saw what they believe to be the same buck that he estimated to be +180" typical. Probably dead now. He did have a scar on his spine above the shoulders as an identifying mark. While not incredibly wide, G2 G3 tines were estimated at more than 14" tall. Both said he was 7-8 points per side with incredible eye guards that nearly met the height of the main tips coming forward. Great mass. Realize that field judging while trying to get a shot is a difficult task, the separate accounts from both hunting in the same area two years different, with another account/sighting the year before by his brother'n law do lead me to believe that there is at least one (or was), coming from great gene pool with the correct feed to produce what anyone in North America would consider a true trophy class animal from Washington.

I'm glad a deserving hunter got him DB...must mean he was "after" him...which is cool. I'd be happy to "luck" upon a buck like that, but when a guy targets a deer like that, then kills him... wowsa! Sorry you didn't get him man!
-
I have some pics of my huntin partner that got a monster in the Pearrygin Unit this year on a permit rifle hunt. The thing has a really nice rack. I can't figure out how to downsize the picture so it'll fit on here. I could frwrd it to someone that know's how to do that and they could either send it back to me or just post it here.
-
yep :'( that buck was not from WA! :bash: just checked out the Amish buck DB was talking about, thats the one :bash: guess my buddie has a unreliable source, :sry: :sry:
-
Ok let's see if this works.
-
Nice!!!!
-

-
Turkey slayer, is it a muley? I have a picture that you have probably seen as well. The one I have is huge but i don't think it's state record.
-
No it's a whitetail but the only view I have is from the back
-
PICS!!

I saw a picture of that buck. It's a dandy. Especially for where he got it....

This pic doesn't do this buck justice. Those eyegaurds are unreal. Long and bladed. It's definetly a great buck especially for a mulie basin......
-
Here's a little bit of a different angle. He and a friend were driving up a road and another guy comes down and asked if they were looking for a whitetail. He turns around and takes them to it!!! :bash: :bash: :bash: Some people have all the luck. :bash: :bash:

Thats a great buck! But is it just me or does a good scoring whitey not look as impressive as a good mulie :dunno: Still a great buck and I wouldn't think twice ;)
-
Yeah, that Alta 2pt muley is a real impressive animal. We'll get somemore good pics of the whitetail when the taxi's done with 'im.

I think it depends on perspective. I think good scoring whitetail look more impressive. Most (not all) Mule Deer look the same to me...just bigger or smaller versions of each other.. (not to say I dont' love them because I think they are awesome). However, I see much more diversity in antler characteristics amongst whitetail and that is what I prefer. :twocents:

Well... I finally saw that rear view photo of the big whitetail everyone is talking about... If it is from WA it definitely looks like it would be amongst the best ever taken in this state.
