Hunter backlash begins over wolf plan adoption
Unanimous adoption of a controversial wolf management plan by the Washington Fish & Wildlife Commission has ignited a firestorm in the hunting community, with concerns over the future viability of big game herds combining with a sense that the commission has turned its backs on sportsmen and women who pay the tab for wildlife management.

your link don't work
-
worked for me , thanks Dave
-
I have already sent letters an emails to all of the comissioners telling them what I thought, and asking them to step down. I hope more people are doing the same thing.
-
Good link. Thanks Dave. Now, who do we have to boot out of office to get this shut down and killed???? Am sick of taking it in the shorts for every animal/tree hugger that has a fantasy about wolves, and bears, and cougars and whatever else.....
Maybe we need an "Occupy WDFW Offices" protest started...... heck, the other ones got national exposure... :dunno: :dunno:
-
Nice article, It would have been nice to have said how the hunters in NO way want to see any of the money for the reintroduction of wolves to comes funds obtained thru the sale of liscenses, permits, tags, etc.
-
Dave that is a very good write up, THANKYOU....

I will send a letter by the end of the week asking them to step down too. I don't think this commission has done very much for the sportsmen of this state. I know a lot of people disagree with me, but I don't like what the commission did with 4 point APR in the NE part of the state. And I also hate that they approved the special permit system that we are stuck with now. This commission is just flat not doing a good job of working for us.
There has been times when I've been just disgusted with the decisions that they have made, and I have wished that the commission would just go away. But then I realize that we really should have a commission, we just need a better group of people. This group sucks. :twocents:

Thank you dave. Good write up. I will share to all.

It's a bit late to get it killed but (and some folks here may not like this but here goes)...the ONLY way to bring some kind of sanity to this is to change governors and the political party of the governor.
TRANSLATION: In November 2012...vote Republican, period, end of story. I don't care if your daddy and granddaddy and momma voted Democrat, and your union tells you to vote Democrat...vote Republican. Change the course of government from the top down. That is the ONLY way you are going to start cleaning up this mess.
The governor appoints the wildlife commissioners. Get a governor in office who will appoint people to the commission who actually hunt deer and elk, and that means every seat on the commission, find a new wildlife director and do a performance audit on the WDFW...and, as I've said on other threads, including this one:
http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,87738.165.html
we need to send some wolf advocates packing.
And lastly...we need someone who will take the Butch Otter approach: Send a letter to the Interior Secretary and tell him point blank: My game cops will not respond to wolf complaints. My state will not investigate wolf problems.
NOW UNDERSTAND this: I don't have a desire to wipe out wolves. But this plan for 15 breeding pairs is somebody's wet dream. They didn't, far as I can remember, suggest that many for Montana or Idaho IIRC.
We've got 5 confirmed packs. We need to amend the wolf management plan to set that as the goal. Five packs, anywhere in the state. The we manage the damn things ourselves and tell the feds to pound sand.
Anyone in the agency who doesn't like that..McDonald's is hiring. Expect lawsuits. Fine. We'll take money out of the DSHS budget, or maybe the Supt. of Public Instruction's budget, and move it to the Attorney General's office.
Work with the Colvilles on this one. Identify the problem and turn them and their attorneys loose. This is an issue we can work with the tribes to resolve to our satisfaction and to the benefit of the elk and deer herds.
But that's just me talking.
And I haven't yet decided to run for Governor, although it's been suggested ... ;)

The WDFW pissed down your back and called it rain when the antis pushed that hound hunting ban.
You expect me to leave that go?
That's my problem....I have a long memory about such things.

i got it to work... good article, and you are spot on about the tribes and hunters. we need to work together, because like it or not we wan the same thing.... Hunting elk and deer for food!

Great article, thanks.

Good read Dave, thank you.

Great article! The area I hunt in Eastern Washington is so overrun with black bears that the thought of another predator running around may actually make me go hunt in Idaho. I don't want to pay for those out of state tags but it may be the better option. We have to find a way to put a stop to this. :bash:

I already told you how to put a stop to this.
Vote Republican in 2012...for governor and your state legislator. The Teamsters may tell you to vote Democrat and they'll probably endorse Inslee for governor. Ignore them.
We need to change the political power in Olympia and put someone in the governor's office who will make sound, sane appointments to the Commission. It's that simple.

No offence to anyone on here that is a proud union member, but that has always bothered me, my union telling me to go vote for the Democrat because he has my best interest at heart. BUT HE WANTS MY GUNS THOUGH! Never mind that, just vote how you are told, it's for your own good......................
Well, see what we got?
Guess that's why I don't belong to a union any longer.

hot damn man .. now we may be getting somewhere ....Thats it.... everyone write a letter to those ( whoever holes) and tell them as a paying sportsmen of Washington State we will not support such BS to interduce wolves into Washington ...Well whatever or should I say more wolves into Washington State !!! :chuckle: :dunno:

I have already sent letters an emails to all of the comissioners telling them what I thought, and asking them to step down. I hope more people are doing the same thing.
I believe it's too late for letters to the commissioners. The people that you need to write now are your legislators. Find the names and email addresses of your WA state congress here: http://apps.leg.wa.gov/districtfinder/default.aspx. Tell your representative that our wildlife commission is reversing our (hunters') incredible conservation successes of the last 100+ years by signing off on this irresponsible program.
In addition, Washington for Wildlife is pushing to get answers to hunting and 2nd amendment questions from both gubernatorial candidates so that we can make sure that hunters have the information to vote for the candidate who will appoint pro-hunting commissioners and director for our WDFW. We already know that Rep Inslee (Democratic candidate for governor) has formerly received an "F" grade from the NRA. If and when the candidates respond to our questions, We'll post them in HuntWA.
-
I have said it before, and I'll say it again, and again. We need to elect the commission. Take the politics out of it. We are almost 10,000 strong. Who can be our spokesman, and write a letter to all concerned and tell them we are tired of NOT being listened to. We need to do something and not be keyboard warriors. How many of the 10,000 would be willing to march on Olympia to get their attention. The sportsman clubs throughout the state back in the 50's used to do just that. I will step down off the soap box now.
-
I'll be there. Tell me when.
-
its to late for letters and talking to hasnt worked for a while :bash: the only thing the govenment, wdfw and commissioner know is $$$$ when they go belly up because no one is buying tags then they will listen but by then the wolves will have takin over and there will be no elk :twocents:

Only the Governor can appoint a commissioner. To I believe a 6 year term. Last time I looked they were looking for people to fill a couple commissioner seats. I think all you have to do is apply.

If anyone wants to be a commissioner check out the link.

I have said it before, and I'll say it again, and again. We need to elect the commission. Take the politics out of it.
Do you realize what you just said?
Elect the commission. Take the politics out of it.
Just what do you think an election is all about? If the commissioners run, they will be voted on by everybody...and the Seattle clowns will vote for the most far left, anti-hunting, wolf-hugging pack of fools on the landscape.
Elect the right governor, put the other party in charge, get the right nominees for the commission, change the agency back to the GAME Department, and put sportsmen first.

:yeah:
As much as I would like to think voting for the Director and Commissioners would make us feel like we had a say in the matter - in the end I believe it would bite us in the rear. Anti-hunting groups would absolutely JUMP at the opportunity to to run a candidate of theirs for these positions, and history at the polls has shown we will be out voted.

We need a citizen commission, but you are exactly right, we do not want the commission elected, they will all be wolf lovers voted in by 3 counties.
We've got 5 confirmed packs. We need to amend the wolf management plan to set that as the goal. Five packs, anywhere in the state. The we manage the damn things ourselves and tell the feds to pound sand.
Here's a big problem, not a 1 of these packs meets the requirements for having pups 3 consecutive years. We have 0 confirmed bp's in Washington even though we have more than 100 wolves in the state. And the even bigger problem is that WDFW does not have the experienced personnel to confirm 15 bp's. We will have 1000 wolves by the time they confirm 15 bp's for 3 consecutive years. :twocents:
To put it bluntly, the wolf plan forces us to rely on an agency that cannot even properly respond to the bear and cougar complaints. How will they ever confirm 15 bp's when the trapper in NE WA has to quit trapping one area to travel over to another area and then can't find the wolves where he goes. :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

How do you guys like my new digital camera? Watch for the flash pretty doggy!

Unless Washington hires a dozen proven wolf trappers (experienced coyote trappers could probably get the job done) our herds will be doomed and hunting seasons will pay the price.
Idaho tried sending out a bunch of college kids and the locals had to tell and show them where the wolves were. I have told a couple stories on here before about the inept ability of the so-called wolf researchers, they are the laughing stock of the countryside. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Bearpaw, did you see the thread by stiknstringbow about the ALEA volinteer grant program? i wonder if members of the WFW or trappers on this site could put a program together to trap, collar & monitor these wolves under this program ?
-
was just a thought as you had mentioned trapping. the criteria is in the thread "really want to do some good for fish & wildlife" under hunting activism.
my first thought was to get involved & maybe have a direct link to the powers that be & utilize the grant funds to cover costs & give some of the experienced trappers on here a challenge.
might be way off base but was a thought.
-
Gaddy, It think that is the ONLY way we are going to get BP's confirmed. Do the chit ourselves. There are other examples of animals taken off the ESA list in this state, and the requirements were not near as difficult.
-
Trapping wolves is tough stuff...they're smart animals. Once they're in the trap someone has to be able to immobilze them (temporarily!! :chuckle:) using drugs that are available only though veterinarians. It's not going to work with a group of volunteers without experience. It's going to take trained people that are committed to checking traps at least 2x a day for however long it takes to catch a wolf and are prepared to handle an animal appropriately once it's caught. The agencies are not going to allow this to happen without some serious oversight.

And, what are the chances that the State of WA will ever allow trapping to control wolves? :dunno: Trapping and aerial gunning are the only real options (I would think) that could really control the wolf population........and what are the chances of that ever happening here?

No, because it's the enviro wacko-friendly WDFW, it takes public opinion support. They'll never allow poisoning and I fear, never allow trapping, either, until children are killed by wolves in their yards as they play. I can only hope those casualties will be the offspring of the wolf lovers.

Nice write up Dave. I will be posting that on my facebook page.

Lets hope everyone votes for a party change , all across the boards. I say no to collaring etc., as anything they do as a result of our ideas will cost money, and that will cost us in the end. We should not have any of our monies go to wolf management. Id rather spend money on a class action law suit against the commissioners and director.
SOmeones got to pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat here for a fix......c'mon Dave.....If we cant come up with some way to get people in there that will make honest meaningful decissions, its over.....I've said many times, the good ol days are over, but even that does not reflect the severity of change we will see within 10 years..........

Yeah Dave, I know what I said. I am 72 years of age and tend to think things out. All the things that you describe that could happen if we voted the commission, are in place right now. My thought is that perhaps we could vote in enough people with brains to stop or at least slow down this lunacy. Someone wrote that there are two vacant chairs on the commision. You can apply all you want, but Gov Hogwire makes the final pick, and we know how that will go. You may recall that when she took office, Bob Tuck from Selah and another commissioner were replaced, without their knowledge. They had not been confirmed by the state senate, so were fair game. Both were hunters and fishermen. Both you could call at any time and they wouldn listen. She did not tell them and Tuck found out from a receptionist when he called over to see why he was not getting any correspondence from them. Years ago, Field and Stream magazine stated that WA is the most political game dept in the nation. It hasn't changed.
In my post I mentioned two other options. One was that someone in the higher echelon of this organization, write to them and tell them we are approimately 10,000 strong and are as mad as hell. But no body has responded to that. I also mentioned that they be barnstormed by a few thousand of the members on their front door. I think I counted two people who said they would go.
Back in the 50's 40' and early 60's the sportsmans club throughout the state would confront them, and get things changed. Not happening anymore.
Keyboard warriors, Dave. Keyboard warriors.
Disclaimer. My spellcheck dosen't work, so I am not responsible for my spelling.

All due respects Jerbear, but I disagree with your assessment that we're keyboard warriors. If you are 72 and retired, why not take on setting up a demonstration yourself? Killbilly, Bearpaw, Machias, Kain, Bobcat, WACoyote, and many others are quite involved and contacting state officials, and attending WDFW meetings and hearings. Just because someone doesn't reply to your post, Jerbear, doesn't mean no one's doing anything. That's just flat out wrong. We may not be doing exactly what YOU think we should do, but a lot of us are working very hard on our politicians and appointed officials. Now's not the time to start in-fighting with other hunters. If you want to contribute, do it. But don't assume you're the only one. You're not.

And with less than a year left in office, why would she care how we feel. Wake up guys...we cannot even get the leading Candidates to answer a couple of easy questions.

Either one fits.........and is easier to spell.
-
And with less than a year left in office, why would she care how we feel. Wake up guys...we cannot even get the leading Candidates to answer a couple of easy questions.
Yup, she doesn't care.
And most politicians aren't going to care either because most people aren't going to care about wolves. It won't be an issue until deer/elk are almost decimated and people's pets and children start getting eaten. Once that starts happening then the politicians will start to take notice, but until then I believe they will just think we are a bunch of whiners and Chicken Littles running around crying wolf. :twocents:
But, with that said, I'm still going to write a letter to the commission, the governor, and my reps.

Jerry, I know you grew up with my Uncle and you know of my family. None of them were quitters. I also know and respect for your years of law enforcement. You must be accustomed to the politics that one has to put up with and like it or not, it does not always leave a good taste in your mouth. We (WFW) have put a lot of work into addressing the faults and shortcomings of the Wolf Plan. We sent numerous letters to any and everyone that might have any influence. We testified at the Commission Meetings, I had numerous conversations with Nate Pamplin, the assistant wildlife program director and It still did not make any difference. We lost to politics and beauracy... The other side has way more time and money than we do. They are achieving their goal. They want to do away with Hunting completely. I wish I had the answer. The next Governor might be the answer but they are avoiding our efforts to identify their positions on aome issues that might us a clue as how to vote.
You take Jerry and keep fighting the good fight.

I think we need to copy these conversions and flood the Dept .with them so they can see what we talk about all day long ...Even to Gregiore ....How ever you spell her damn name :dunno:
what would make you think big brother isnt trolling these sight already and knows what we all think, say and where we all stand. with over half the people on this sight being guests you have to know there here
they want our money not our input

Guys I am sorry about the rant. I guess looking back to what the Game Dept was in the 50' & 60's, and what it is today just aggravetes me to no end. They just do not care. If that clown Ensley gets in, it will be same old thing. Sorry if I ticked you off. You peolpe are family, so I am sorry. Pianoman, you hit another subject that in a way bothers me. My wife is now bed riddeen most of the time, so I have to stay home. Got to deer hunt one day this season. Had a doe tag, and scored.
It was just out from the house, so that helped. So going to Olympia is out of the question. Besides, I am not current on all my shots.

Understood. My thoughts go out to you and your wife. It sounds like you have your hands full. We're working on Olympia while you're working at home at what's most important. Certainly no hard feelings.

I have already sent letters an emails to all of the comissioners telling them what I thought, and asking them to step down. I hope more people are doing the same thing.
I sent my letter telling them that I will not be contributing the amount of money as I did this year and to figure that into their wolf plan.
-
I sent e-mails to the director and the commissioners......if they took my advice, they are packing at this moment.... :twocents:
-
I also emailed the director and the commission. I also requested that they resign. I also suggested that on the opening page of their web site, that they make a small change. It says, Sound stewardship of fish and wildlife. I suggested that they strike the word sound and insert the word CLOWN.
-
There is no doubt the more comments are sent the more they will realize hunters are not happy. If they do not recieve messages, then they will assume the wolf plan is acceptable.
Send a message every week to them....let them know you are not happy about this wolf plan.

Obviously the methods that sportsman have tried using so far have not worked....and they will not work! We will continue to get steam rolled and have the tree huggers, wolf lovers, and anti hunting crowds views shoved down our throats! Why??? Because they don't just write letters.....Because they don't accept defeat.... Because they will scream from the mountain tops......All while we write letters! I said it before the wolf pan was accepted and I will say it again......Things will only get worse until we all decide to grow a set of balls and do something about it!! Being passive and politically correct has done nothing but cost us......and it will not stop!
The other team is celebrating another victory.....all while we are still sitting in the locker room bitching about the refs making a bad call!!! Right now I figure it is about halftime of this game......and so far we are getting our asses handed to us! I guess we will sit back and see if and when the sportsmen of Washington have decided they have been pushed around long enough! I just hope the game isn't over before everyone decides to stand up for what they believe in.....everyone decides to fight not only for their own rights......but the rights of their children and grand children!!!
Our fathers, grandfathers, and great grandfathers must be rolling over in their graves right now seeing what is going on! Seeing how our heritage is being destroyed.....but mostly seeing how we are allowing it to happen!! When the day comes that it is all taken away from us we will have no one to blame but ourselves! If we have since passed when it is taken.....rest assured our children will wonder why we didn't have the balls to stop it!
So, write your letters.....write the commission, the director, the government!! Just to let you all know....they have showed from recent actions....THEY DON'T CARE!!! You might as well send them a role of mountain money......your emails and letters are starting to get rough when they wipe their asses with them!!!
Anyway, I'm sorry if I sound like such a downer.....it is only because IT IS A DOWNER!!! Wake up people!! It's time to answer the bell and come out swinging!! Either that or we throw in the towel now and save people from getting carpal tunnel from writing emails!
Well, I will leave my rant there for now.....Hope you all enjoyed the read..... now get to writing your emails....the WDFW had their power shut off due to budget cuts and need the paper to start a fire with!!!

Again, I don't know where you get this incorrect information about all of us sitting around and waiting to lose. I haven't been waiting around and neither have a great many hunters and sportsmen on this site. I don't know if you're sitting on your butt "allowing this to happen", but if so, only speak for yourself. Just this week, I've made phone calls and sent letters and emails to representatives, senators, and the commission. I know others on this site who are very active and have been working on this right along and will continue to. Many of us have attended hearings and meetings, as well. You're feeling betrayed and bitter about the situation, as many of us are. But, I suggest you don't start pointing fingers at your fellow sportsmen. Your attacks are ill-placed. They need to be aimed at the opposition.
Remington, if you need some email or mailing addresses for elected officials, phone numbers, etc., please let me know. I'd be happy to assist you to join us in addressing the issues that concern you with someone whose job it is to do something about them. Thanks for your concern for our wildlife. We're in this together as hunters and concerned conservationists.

If voting republican is the only hope for us then we are not in a good place. I highly doubt we will get a republican governor anytime in the next 20 years. This state is just too determined to continue the current course of madness.
I would take a socially liberal/Fiscally conservative like a hippy version of Romney to ever appeal to the masses in the Northwest.
However, if there is something that could be done by way of ballot measure, I would be willing to put time and money into that movement.
I've been voting republican my whole life. All it has given me is a 20 losing streak.
-
How about we petition the ballot for committee appointees to be current fishermen/hunters for three consecutive years? That way we don't have ANY tree huggers in the mix.

Ya, you obviously read the whole post.....No that is alright, i wont waste my time writing any letters or making any phone calls.....you can waste your time if you like! Like I said before....the whole writing letters and making phone calls has REALLY been working hasn't it?!?! You can sit there and preach all you want about all the hard work people are putting in on these issues.....now you tell me how it made you feel to know NOTHING you did mattered?!?! Did it feel like you got slapped in the nuts??? Well it should have.....one of these days you will realize that the people getting things done are the people that are not just writing emails and making phone calls! SO, just to clear it up, I did not make an attack on anyone......what i did do was inform you that what you are doing is not working....and it never will.....you may take that as an attack because it is all you are willing to do.....but just to say it again....IT DIDN'T NOR WILL IT WORK!!! Sometimes pianoman you have to change up the game plan......

How many signatures do you need for a ballot initiative? Do we have enough time to get it on the ballot for next fall? I would be willing to work on this. First we need the signatures, then we need funding to advertise the measure, because the greenies will certainly have lots of money to spend fighting it. Wraiten, please give me your thoughts on this, either through response or PM. Thanks.

I feel like I've been kicked, too. I'm just not going to give up and I'm not going to start blaming my fellow hunters for the defeat. And, I wasn't preaching. I was simply stating that you were incorrect in saying all of us have been sitting around on our asses and just making calls and sending emails. That's simply untrue. As far as changing up the game plan is concerned, lend some suggestions.

Would need to be able to somehow prove they are actually hunters/fishermen. Don't forget, anti-hunting groups purchase licenses and apply for our permits in hopes of "saving" the animals from us - so simply having a license for 3 years wouldn't suffice
-
Gotta have proof somehow you are right and I was thinking about that when I wrote it. Pictures can be faked. They could sign in a fish check in stations and game reporting stations where their harvest is checked. That would mean more boots in the woods for the state and that's not happening. I'm stumped.

Sorry for using sports as my way of getting my point across but it is what I know......
Pianoman, we are always on the defensive side of things....don't you think it is time we go on the offense? Like in a fight, we have been told that you have to wait for the bully to hit you before you can fight back.....Well, if you let the bully hit you first.....then you most likely are going to lose......NOW, what happens if you blindside that bully?? Hit him when he isn't expecting it....then take the fight to him.....Your chances of coming out on top is much better!
You need ideas......well I would say that the play book that the wolf lovers, anti hunting community is using works pretty good.....so, how about we start using the same game plan??? Lets start taking their way and using it against them!!!
I also want to say this.....I know some of you worked and are working hard for a change.....actually VERY FEW of you are! (10k people on this forum and look how few are actually speaking up) I don't want to take anything away from what you have done, except for saying their needs to be changes...... We need a chief, someone to stand up and take the lead.....someone that can really make things happen.....someone that can get the troops together and fight a good fight! I know of a couple guys on here that have the name and the rep to make things happen.....it just is a matter of them putting there face at the forefront of the fight!! Guess if they knew they had an army of sportsman at there back....it would be easier! Fact is Pianoman, if we don't start fighting for what we believe in, someone else is going to fight to take it away!!!
-
Again, your specific suggestions on what that offensive attack might be would be welcomed. I've written to RMEF to suggest that we use the screwed up ESA to our advantage, using the plight of the endangered woodland caribou to stop wolf reintroduction. I'm trying hard to get the hunting and 2nd Amendment views from the two gubernatorial candidates so we can put our support behind the one who most represents hunters in WA. This will put someone in office who is concerned to fill the commission with hunters instead of the extremists who have been appointed by Her Majesty Queen Gregoire.
You say it's time to change the game plan and go on the offensive like the animal rights people. What are your suggestions please?
-
I've said it before, but I like the idea of all 10,000 of us showing up on Gregoire's doorstep to deliver our message in person. Everything we have to say in emails and letters - we need to keep saying - but it would get some attention if we also all showed up in perrson at once to deliver the same message
-

Then let's do it. Let's pick a date, like Sunday, April Fool's Day. Let's organize this and have 10K people on her lawn on a Sunday. I'm there, Bobcat. What do we do now? How do we proceed?

:yeah: :yeah: :yeah: :yeah: That is one of the ideas! Problem is getting enough people together to really make someone open their eyes...... That is why it would need to be a well thought out and planned event, with a leader that is willing to stand on the soap box and get out message across! Believe me.....if this was well put together, I honestly believe we could get more than 10k there..... It is about saving what we all believe in!!! It is time that our angry voices are heard.....time that they know we are not going to take it anymore! Either that or watch it all go away........ Oh, it also couldn't just be a one time thing....it would need to be something that happens over and over.....that way they know we aint going anywhere!
Pianoman.......I will get back to you on the ideas.....going to try and write it out to be understandable and well thought out!
-
Thats why I call for a vote on commissioners and director, and you have to be a resident with a history ( like wild I.D. ) of participation in fishing and hunting since the begining of Wild ID..........OR SOME SUCH SIMILAR method of weeding out those that oppose us.
Remember too its not just the antis' , its a large part of the political arena that support the ban on guns........Ive heard it before, if we cant hunt, we dont need guns......its much bigger than our state........write your district legislators and ask them for help...Ive got republicans up here so that helps....I wouldnt ask a dem for help, but these politicos who live over here are just as upset as we are......
I also agree the day will come soon where we do need to yell and stomp at the front door in Olympia and let them see eyeball to eyeball how pissed we are........
I saw the last post and will add this....we proceed by changing the date and not posting it where they can see it and be prepared........and it should also be when it will be a noticable interuption....as in when they are in session......

Why is it the ANTI'S can get thousands at the drop of a hat to go protest something? But we have a hard time getting a couple hundred? Are we that lethargic? Or is it that us hunters and gun owners really JUST DONT GIVE A DAMN?????

The problem with them being in session is that many can't come during the week. Our numbers would be twice as big on a weekend day. What we don't accomplish by hitting them during a session, we can accomplish by alerting the media and with the numbers of people we produce. As far as changing the date is concerned, how would you propose making it a secret and yet getting everyone to show? You'll never know who someone really is online. The antis will find out, but if we even got a thousand people to show, they'd never be able to come close. They're only big in dollars, not in actual supporters.
-
I am also really wanting to see if some of the "Big Names" on here are in support of this idea....and wondering if they are willing to be a part of it! The more big names that get involved the more people will come out of the woodwork.....I know we all know who the big names are on here with a lot of followers. Lets hope they are also willing to stand up and try and save our rights.......

Your question is obviously pointed at me. You should just use my name and be direct, Rem. I was simply stating a fact. More people will be available on a weekend day than a weekday. Some people will be able to take a weekday off, but many will not. Hunting heritage or not, some people will never be able to get time off during the week.

GREAT idea...i will.....lets see the response! lol The reason I ask is because in some issues like this I have seen in the past some of the big names don't step up and declare their support......it's like they are afraid to put their heads out there.......But what I want them to know is they are viewed as leaders.... respected members of the hunting community.....and we need them to really make this work!

HB:
And I haven't yet decided to run for Governor, although it's been suggested ... ;)
As much as SOME of you may hate to agree with but at this point in the game this is probably the best shot at getting this reopened, reviewed and taken before any court system. The Colvilles are not the only Tribe not happy about the wolves being reintroduced and even down here they hold cultural significance but I would not want them at the level the State wants them and majority of the hunters I've already talked to just down here don't want them here either.
Also, good article and you have my vote!

Yep.....I know plenty of guys who will skip a days work to do this when it would have the most impact......during the week. Week ends ??? It would be totally worthless to do it when only the security personel are there.....press on the weekend ??? Same dang thing.....It has to be done when it will get the most attention or we may as well stay home.

I've started a new thread to begin the conversation about a protest.

Plat,
I will work with anyone and everyone that is trying to save our elk and deer from wolves! I do not care if it is the devil himself. He does not scare me.
So if the tribes and the hunting and fishing community can join hands and fight this thing, I am all for it.

I think they'd absolutely get involved. Why wouldn't they? Why don't you please send PMs to the "big names" yourself and let them know how you feel.
If you are refering to the guys on here that names show up blue or red. I don't think most of them are leaders or want to be leaders. No disrespect to any of them. But they are just hunters like the rest of us. And just because they have some "power" on this site does not make them a leader. We need help from organizations like the RMEF and WFW.

If you are referring to the mods and admins, I would like to point out that they already volunteer a great deal of time to keep this forum a civil place for everyone to spend time. Another thing you have to consider is that not all people want to be political. It doesn't mean they are non-caring people, it just means they are not interested in or do not have the time for the political side of hunting.

and a big THANK YOU to all the mods & admins that keep this site working & doing what you do.

just so you all know your efforts are appreciated.

Washington for Wildlife needs to be used as the tool to push this as a unified voice. :twocents:
