I've met one of the guys in this photo a few times, it was sent to me by a friend of a friend kind of thing. I've been asking what tag/unit and score but haven't heard back.
Supposedly rifle general season somewhere by Raineer. I'm new to elk hunting and I'm not familiar enough to be able narrow down where it could have been. I had no idea there were even general open season tags that allowed taking branch bulls.
Nice Bull though!!

I've seen the pic, dont know the guy but I'm pretty sure its a OP bull. And a very big one at that
-
Most of western WA is 3 point min for general tags
-
That is a toad Roosie :o Holy buckets, congrats to him.
-
Peninsula bull i do believe. From what my sources have told me. No more than that.
-

For rifle as well huh? I have only hunted archery for elk and only for two years now, never really looked at the rifle regs but just assumed they would be more restrictive.

I know, I can't stop staring at it. Both guys tagged out, sounded like a great hunt.

Yep for rifle too. Just a different management strategy than east side. No need to memorize all rules/regulations either.
That is definitely a toad freaking bull too!
-
Pretty sure that is the governers bull killed out on the peninsula.
-
I would love to see more pictures of that bull. That looks great...
-
Over the counter tag. Near Humptulips.

Yeah, i don't want to post faces of people on the web without their permission. Its not a great photo but the best one I have.
-
Had that sent to me in an email and was told it was taken out near Promised Land Campground, don't have any other info on it though. Monster Bull though.
-
I was also told this bull was killed near humptulips. Looks more like a Vancouver Island bull to me... I would imagine a bull this size killed locally would have been made a little more famous, considering its been passed around through emails and text messages and its obviously a giant. Congrats to the hunter, no matter where it was killed.
-
what in the private land ranch guided grain fed canned hunt for the very rich hunter is goin on here???????!!!!!!! he is big though

LOOKS LIKE ONE HELL OF A PAINTING TO ME :dunno: :yike:
Now that you mention that, it kinda does look like a painting. :dunno:
-
If you're a ghost do you still need a tag to hunt or is it open. :dunno: :chuckle:
-
A friend of mine sent that to me at work. He said his buddies co-worker shot that bull over by the humptulips. Some logging truck driver I guess. One heck of a bull that's for sure.
-
i hunt right down by the promise land and have had this pic sent to me and some say it was shot right down on the promise land and others have also said it was shot in canada and my uncle and grandpa both logged down there for like 30 years and they would have heard so im a ferm believer it was not taken down there
-
not a canada bull, WA state, public land, otc, thats what i know for sure. From what I know of these guys, they know what they are doing and they do it well and the right way! I have a nice blacktail pic from them last year. Dang I want to see this bull in person! What a beauty.
-
all right you scoring pros, what do you think this bull tapes in at?
-
I had this pic sent to my phone and was told it came from the Humptulips area!!!! Don't know if it's true but it's a monster!!!
-
Odell, you mentioned the Rainier (Mt Rainier?) area. Was this from several years back?
There was a monster bull that came out of the Goat Rocks Wilderness in the late 90's that looked like that. Bases the size of coffee cans as I recall the story.
There are still some big bulls back in the Goat Rocks.
-
or rainier wa, rayoneer timmberland, or rainier oregon? :bash:
-
or rainier wa, rayoneer timmberland, or rainier oregon? :bash:
I'm pretty sure if someone killed a bull like that on our tree farm we'd have heard about it. The pic also looks more like USFS land than Rayonier's Promised Land. If you knew how many poachers, tweekers, scrapers and brush pickers roamed the Promised Land you would doubt a bull like that could survive out there. I know a local surveyor who picked up a bull head like that on the Quinault Indian Reservation twenty years ago.....I think it's 9 on each side if I remember right.
-
This monster IS from BC.

Enlighten us :dunno:

We lost the original thread when this bulls rack showed up the first time on here back in early November (due to the meltdown). Here's the picture of the rack that was posted on the original thread when someone took a pic of it somewhere around Shelton. Here's another pic I got in an email that said the bull was taken in BC. It even gave the hunters name. I'm pretty sure it didn't come from the Penninsula, but not because of how big it is.
-
Yeah that bull is a rosie from BC. I know who the hunter is and he sent pics of the bull to me shortly after he got it. It is up to him if he wants to post who he is and story.
-
Gorgeous bull, congrats to the hunter. And I guess that now that the Humptulips rumours have been put to rest, we don't have to worry about an increase in the number of hunters hunting that area looking for a bull like this. LOL

Basket Rack pretty much summed it up. I'm sure we will see it in a Hunting Mag sooner or later.
-
Sorry guys. You are all wrong. That bull came from my dreams. :IBCOOL:

Yeah, I was told Mt. Rainier area. Interesting that it might be canada. I'll call my buddy and find out more. This is from this year.

Sadly I do know just how many of those types of people are roaming the woods out there. That is why we made the switch from hunting Promised Land to going down to Randle/Packwood area. Got tired of running into nothing but brucsh pickers, crack heads, and "mushroom pickers" carrying hunting rifles. The indians made the decision easy for us one year too.
-
Dang Indians... Hunting on our "Promised" Land :)

After reading all 4 pages I love how many people know everything about everything.. :bash: :bash:... Can't we just admire a wonderful animal and let the author tell the story. If you have a better one than post your own thread. BC or Wa. I don't care, its a massive bull and it can be left at that. :dunno:

Look at the title of the thread. It's just a bunch of people trying to figure out the story on this one...nothing to get too worked up about. Although there were a few people who seemed a little overconfident that they knew the story...I'll give you that. It's an amazing animal for sure, but it's human nature to wonder/speculate where it came from, especially when it's rumored to have come from your backyard.

Coastal, that bull you posted is from BC and is from the same party but from a different year. I don't think it is the same bull as the one I posted though. Look em over again and tell me what you think.
-
Absolutely the same bull. Vancouver Island bull is still my guess. The bull of my dreams thats for sure.

:yike: :yike: :yike: Come on! It is obviously the same bull based off of the pics. It's a great bull and I'm not doubting that just your insistence that the 2 bulls in question are different. :bash: The only one that can clear the whole situation for sure is the person that harvested the bull but, given the evidence provided it's obvious their the same.
-
Not insisting just asking. I'm just curious about the bull and trying to sort through the info I got from people who were supposedly in the know. It's funny how many different stories are being told.
I'm new to the forum and wanted to contribute something. Sorry for wasting your time
-
your not waisting our time. i enjoy any and all there is to see as long as it's legit. glad your own here odell....

Don't run off yet Odell, talking about big bulls is never a waste of time. I'll admit, those pics were a little deceiving at first.
-
I know the rack was riding around shelton for quite a while in the back of that truck lol
-
Didn't know they had high fenced, can hunts in shelton
-
That bull came from the joint base lewis mcchord. Don't tell anyone but there are big bulls out there.
-
That is a beast :yike:
-
OK, Ok,, that is my bull... my pet BF ran it down for me and held it, so I could shoot it from the truck as I held my beer between my legs, with no blaze orange on... then the BF loaded it whole for me, so I could drive through town bragging... :sry:
-
I know there was a BIG BULL like this one running around between Rainier and Tenino last year that had a limp... He was a BIG OLD BULL!! Myself and other family and friends have seen that bull for 5 years. Maybe this is that bull?? I did hear a big one was taken out by Rainier.
-

That bull died during rifle season and was well know. Only problem is he was not anything like this bull pictured. Maybee a 320 bull at best. He was broke on top when the rifle guy shot him .

Yeah, he was like a 9 x 1or 2 in the 2010 season. He was either old or had a bad case of hoof rot or probably both!
Do you know who got him and if there are any pics?
-
Isnt that Tom Shearer's bull? His brother Alan killed the new muzzleloader world record rossie a few years back. Shearer's are from Belfair and own a trucking company. Tom ran around town for quite a while with the rack in the back of his truck. He gave me a picture of it but it's at work right now and i cant compare it to this post. I think it's around 400 but he hadnt scored it yet. The bull was killed by rifle on Vancouver Island (actually i believe the gulf islands) and was guided which you have to be guided in Canada.
-
That's the same story I got too, and I'm pretty sure Tom is the guy in the pictures.
-
Hallelujah, case settled. vancouver island bull.
Oh wait, isnt that john boy in that picture. Yea, it is. me and john go way back and let me tell you he is a killing machine. i know for a fact he bought his tags from my grandpas store last year. i know for a fact he killed it in his back yard. i know for a fact it was killed with a rifle....or maybe a muzzy(not sure..oh wait yes i am sure) i know for a fact.......yes i know for a fact. humm with me to a song i wrote. the title is called, "I know for a fact".
Ooohhhhhhh, I know for a fact, yes i know for a fact....Ive been there, and done that....so I know for a fact....lalalala......lalalalaaaaaa, I know for a fact, yes i know for a fact, that not to many peoppppppple really KNOW FOR A FACT!!. thank you thank you very much. no autographs please.

-
His brother allen has killed some nice animals in bc , he shot a muley in williams lake that was a masher 10 years ago or so .

Ya the bull in question actually reminds me of the bull allen shot in 2009.
-
the bull in question reminds me of 2 bulls I saw along highway 7 between morton and elbe.. of course they were on the side of the road that was closed for elk at that time! DOH!
-
I know the rack was riding around shelton for quite a while in the back of that truck lol
Yep seen it out here so did my gf she sent me a pic and talked to the guy he said it was a bc bull
-
Obviously that Bull didn't come out of the Nooksack because all the big Bulls up here have either been shot or ate by the new Wolf pack that we have up here now. 8)

-
Lets see some of coastal natives racks, sure he has a few that are pretty big.....

Nope stormking side was open for late archery elk last year.. he was on south rainier side which no longer has a late elk season.. makes me sad because if we still had that season I'd have a HUGE bull.. 1 was a solid 6x6 which from 100 yards you could see was at least as thick of bases as my wrist and the other was a big 7x7.
-
Hi-way 7 splits stormking (510) and the skook (667) There isnt a late season in stormking for archery or muzzy?
-
not sure about muzzy because I don't hunt muzzy but from what I read stormking did not have a late season archery for elk. Mind you this was new to me... king of like them doing away with late season archery elk in my main hunting are aka south rainier (gmu 513).
