I just ordered a Primos Truth Cam 46 from Wal Mart. Great price- $89.00 and free shipping.
Cabelas has the same camera on sale right now too, but their price is $119.99. They also have the Primos 35 on sale for $84.99, but for only $4.00 more I got the 46 from Wal Mart, and it's a step up from the 35.
Just thought I would post this in case anyone is looking for one. Here's a link:

Thanks! That is a screaming deal for the 46. I am going to pick up a couple myself.
-
Bobcat- Do you have any of the Primos cams yet? I have two of the 35's. They're working well for me with good battery life but it seems to bother the deer a bit. I don't know if I just have a noisy camera or if they are all like that.

The 35's are great cameras for the money but they have been known to have a loud shutter. I thought Primos had fixed that problem. Are they brand new 35's or older ones?
-
Not quite sure. Had one about 2 yrs and the other 1. The sensor is white on one and clear on the other. If they have addressed that "clunk" issue I would definately get another. Only other drawback is thier weight. Sounds like a good deal on the 46's.

Ordering one tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up, I was headed to cabelas today to buy a cam. It might even be 129 at cabelas, was hard to see much through the hoards of people there today.
-
Sounds like everyone thinks this is a good camera and a good buy....thanks for letting everyone know...I will be ordering one

Temporarily out of stock....

I don't have a Primos cam but in all the research I've done I learned that the 2010 models have the famous "clunk" and the 2011 models do not. They were supposed to have fixed that problem, in additon to another improvement in that the battery life is supposed to be twice as good as the older models. It's still possible to get a 2010 model depending on who you order it from. So I've been kind of leery and didn't want to buy from just anybody. I'm hoping Wal Mart has the newer cameras. If not, I will probably end up sending it back to Primos and they will replace it with a new model. That's another thing I learned is that their customer service is the best.
You might give Primos a call and see if they will replace the 35's you have.

You're right, I just checked too and it says out of stock. I'm sure glad I ordered when I did. I'd been looking at them on there for a week before I finally decided to order one. Well it wouldn't hurt to check back in there once a day and see if they have found more.
So who all from here ended up ordering one?
-
I picked one up to replace one of mine that was stolen this year.
-
So Wea300mag and I are the only ones that got one before they were sold out?
-
Try and have Cabela's price match. I have been successful in the past with them, just ask. Besides, Cabela's is way easier to deal with in terms of returns/refunds. Just an idea, good luck. :hello:

:dunno: Walmart will take anything back! Hell I get a new vacume every other month (when the bag gets full) :chuckle:

I just bought one from walmart 2 weeks ago and have to say i am pleased with it. While testing in the house i did notice some shutter noise but I doubt dear would mind. As for battery life. I went about 4 full rounds of 30sec hi quality video on a 2gb sd card, which was anywhere from 80-90 videos. with brand new energizer batteries before the battery said low on the screen. Camera was not dead before i had pulled it. quality of video and pics is pretty good, Overall i am very happy with it. it was $99 in store+ tax

I just want to report that I received the camera today and it is the "new" 2011 model, which I can tell from the packaging which says on the front- "New & Improved Up to 200% Longer Battery Life" and "Zero Photo Capture Noise".
My concern was that I would end up with one of the 2010 models which had the "clunk" sound every time it took a picture.
I'll try to get it out in the woods tomorrow to test it out.

Sweet! Guinea pig time. If you get pics of deer not looking at the camera I'll pick another one up after the Christmas spending has settled down.
-
I see Cabelas now has the same camera on sale for $99.99. (and Wal Mart is still sold out)
I might have to pick up another one from Cabelas after Christmas, if they still have it at that price.

Well I'm going to bring this one back up to the top. I have some info to report but I already typed it all out on another board so I'll just provide a link to that thread and if anyone is interested you can go over there and read it (yes, I was unfaithful to this board, sorry!).
I posted about it over on Chasingame because I was having problems and knowing there were some people over there with experience with the same camera I thought I might get some help. Turns out I just got a lemon. I've got a new one now from Cabelas and will be trying it out this weekend, and will see if it does any better.
Here's a link to the other thread:

Oh, I'm "bdan68" over there. There was already a "bobcat" over there. In fact he posted once in my thread and when I first started reading his post I was thinking I was reading my own post, until I realized I didn't say that. :chuckle: :bash:

At least you had a few pics I had over 30 pics out of 240 that were pitch black. 0 night pics. Tried it at home and it worked fine. Haven't used it since. I need to go set it up.....
-
Yes, I did get a few pictures. I think it was 837 in the first 6 days, and then around 450 the next 7 days.
-
Well, the new one from Cabelas isn't working properly either. I got 565 pictures in three days, so it does take pictures! But, for the daytime pictures it alternates between using the IR and not using it. So one set of pictures is black and white, and the next set is color, and so on. Or it will just stay in IR mode when there should be enough light to take pictures without it. The black and white pictures are clear and acceptable, but the color pictures are way too dark.
I left the camera out there, to try for another week, but I'm pretty sure this one will be going back to Cabelas. I'm not sure what to do now. Don't know if I should exchange it for another one, or maybe get a Moultrie instead.
Here are a couple of pictures that were taken less than 1 minute apart:

Ready for this thread to take off? I have two Primos 46 cams and love them. Although the price is great at Wal-Mart, I will not be purchasing new cams or anything else from that retailer. I am not a fan of Wal-Mart at all. I think that the business model they follow is bad for the country in general. And for the few cents you save on the items you purchase from the corporate giant you help support the executives in Arkansas. While you also subsidize the medical benefits of its workers through the taxes you pay. Just my opinion. I will buy local for my next trail cam purchase. Thanks.

I have no problem with Wal Mart. In fact I was going to post on here how impressed I was with how painless it was for me returning that camera the other day. I walked into the Tumwater Wal Mart, told the lady at the counter I'd like a refund because the camera didn't work properly. She gave me a refund in cash, no questions asked. All she said was "sorry it didn't work". Remember, I didn't even purchase this at the store. I bought it from Wal Mart online and it was shipped directly to my house. What great service. It couldn't have been more than 5 minutes for me to get in the store and back out with my refund. Cabelas has nothing on Wal Mart!
Now as for the new Primos 46 I got from Cabelas, I checked it today, after a 4 day soak, and it seems to be working fine. I had turned the camera so it was not facing open sky. I got 965 pictures in 4 days, and not one of them is in color, so they were all taken with the IR flash.
-
:yeah: you can return anything to them! I mean anything! I get a new vacume every other month, when the bag gets full and it turns off I take it back and get a new one :chuckle: :chuckle:

Here's a picture from the current setup. It's on the same tree as it was previously, but facing west instead of north.

The only problem I see now is the deer are actually too close, in many of the pictures. I think I'll go back out there this weekend and change the camera from the full 45 LED's to the optional 25 (for the IR flash).
