Title: Broken limbs on Martin Bows?????
Post by: whackemandstackem on December 11, 2011, 10:05:20 AM
With two days in the late archery season left, I noticed the top limb on my 07' Martin Pantera was cracked almost all the way through and about 4 inches in length. Later that day my dad and brother also noticed the beginning of cracks on their Martin bows. I know this "Probably wouldn't happen" with a Hoyt, Mathews, or a Bowtech but can't afford those haha. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and or what can be done. Warranty??

Get with a Martin dealer to help out.  There've been a few people on here that have been through this, so hopefully they'll chime in.  I think Martin's reputation for taking care of these limbs is pretty good.  If you happen to be close to Walla Walla, then you could probably walk in with cracked limbs and walk out 30 minutes later with new ones.

Are you guys leaving your bows in your vehicles in the summer?  If so, that could be the cause of your cracks/delamination.

Martin is known to have bad limbs. On the plus side they have outstanding customer service. I have had this happen twicw lucky for me I live in Walla Walla so I just took it down there and was out with new limbs 15 minutes later.

I've had the limbs on an 09 Firehawk start coming apart in the middle of late archery this year and last year. I live an hour from Martin, so I could get them fixed. They started having issues around 2007 and had lots of them with the 2009 and 2010 models. They have great customer service, but the best customer service is the one you don't have to use.

I want to support Martin because they are a local business, but hunting seasons are too important to deal with this BS. I'm done with Martin after this season. I might keep the bow as a backup, but I'm going elsewhere with my loyalties.

A friend noticed a very small crack in one of the limbs on my 2010 Martin Pantera a couple of months ago. You really had to use a magnifying glass to really see it. I didn't even think much of it at the time but a couple weeks later I was in Lucky Shot in Chehalis getting some arrows and broadheads, and I thought to ask them to take a look at it. They thought it was a crack and asked me to leave the bow there. This was on a Friday evening in October and Martin was closed. They got a hold of Martin on Monday and I got a call Wednesday from Lucky Shot that my bow was ready to be picked up, with brand new limbs. Amazing service from both Martin and Lucky Shot. I couldn't believe it. I didn't even purchase the bow new, it was a year old bow that I got off ebay.

I blew up my Rytera AlienX right after I got it. Seeings how I live in Wally World, I took it to the factory that day, they replaced the limbs cams and re strung it....FOR FREE! I love that kind of service. If my limbs crack, I can get them fixed and then I have an excuse to give my girlfriend when I have to go shoot every morning for a few hours  :chuckle:  Love Martins Customer service...

Googled it, looks like some have had their Hoyt Bows get cracks in the limbs.... and the warranty only covers the orignial owner.

My guess is it happens to everyone from time to time.

Well, guess my luck had to run out.  Went out hunting this morning, drew back and heard a strange noise.  I let the bow down, instead of shooting, found a crack starting in the upper limb.  :'(  Guess I am hearded back to the Nock Point Wednesday, with a trip coming up pretty sure I will not be getting a deer this year.

Bad time for that to happen!   :bash:

Is it a Martin?

Martin fixed there limbs in 2011 I havent herd of any problems with the new power tough limbs.I really cant think of a bow that has not had any limb problems in the past, what matters is how they take care of you when it happens.

My brother inlaw had both limbs crack on one of his martin bows.  He has lost total confidence in it.
They did replace both of them free of charge though.

I got this bow back in 2010 just before the season.  Not too worried about it, since won't have time to finish out the season unless I borrowed a bow from my cousin, but I have a 31" draw and he has like a 28" and he doesn't have any arrows set up with broadheads.
