2 questions. Sorry that I have no pictures of my kayak. I have tried to get them on here but I can't. It is an Old Town vapor 10 angler. The problem is that it is hard to fit my dog in it when I go duck hunting. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas on how to bring my dog along more easily. I was thinking about towing something that is small behind my kayak but i do not know what :dunno: Maybe there is already something out there that I don't know about? I am pretty good at building things also.
Also, I will be going to spokane on the 13th of January. I was looking to go to the pend oreille river assuming that everything else will be frozen :dunno: I have never hunted in a river and I only have 4 oz. decoy weights. Is that a problem? Total newbie to the river thing.
Thanks for anything. If you read all of that I would like to shake your hand :chuckle:

Good at building things? Get some plans and build a Duckboat. Room for guns, ammo, dekes, DOG, lunch, cooler, camo netting, etc......etc...... Kayaks no good for Duck hunting with dog. Ask any dog. Or a former Duck hunter like me.... :chuckle:

Check out the rig GasMan built. http://www.hybridduckboat.com/files/ kayaks are great without a dog but suck for one... even an canoe sucks, almost swamped on the skagit at 3am one time when 2 teal buzzed the canoe... dog didn't even move that much. :twocents:

Not surea bout the kayak situation, but 4 oz of weight on your decoys should be just fine. It is fairly deep in spots though so make sure you have 20-25ft of line on. Good luck!

Can't give any info on the kayak but as far as the PO river goes it has been known to freeze up as well. The stretch of river between newport and cusick that I hunted a couple years ago with a couple buddies was froze up pretty good, but I havent been up there since either. Good luck.

You can always build a small raft to tow behind with the dog in it.
With Fiberglass, wood and marien grade foam, you can build any thing ;)

Thanks for all guys. I think i will try to build one of those hybrid things just for my dog to tow behind me. I also sure hope that river is not frozen because I plan on bringing a friend. Oh well, there is always yotes to wack :chuckle:

Deer hunted the Muzzle Loader season near Usk a couple of weeks ago. The PO River was open then and could hear the waterfowl hunters blasting away down from where I hunted. Probably still open. Take a lot of cold to freeze a big river like that one.

I'm sure it's still open right now but come january 13 th when it's normally colder it may be froze up.
