So I'm at a garage sale yesterday and walk to the back and here sits a knight inline ML with a $25 tag on it. So, I ask "why so cheap?" and guy says "Its still got a slug and powder in it from 6yrs ago." guy says "Its nothing but a wall ornament" I say "give ya 15 bucks" he says "20" I say "sold".
What do I do now? Is it ruined? Its pretty pitted on the outside and needs lots of TLC. How do i get the slug out?
Help appreciated.

I thing they have special tools for just that issue........worst case get a new barrel :dunno:

I'd first and foremost make sure it's safe, no ignition. Then clean the bore as best you can of rust and crud. Soak it with Kroil or some other penetrating fluid. Buy or make an extractor, looks like a wood screw and thread it into the ball or bullet. I'd use a good stout cleaning rod, you don't want the end to pull out of your ramrod when you tug on that sucker. What kind of nipple arrangement does it have? On a sidelock, you can replace the nipple with zerk fitting and pump grease in there and push the ball out. I don't know if that would be possible on an inline or not. They also make CO2 dischargers that thread into the nipple hole, maybe you could find one that would fit your inline.

Thanks guys. My thinking was either I had a $20 gun for the wall or an inexspensive inline if I ever draw the multi-season.

If it has a slug & powder why not just fire it?
If it has a slug and no powder, remove the nipple and work a few grains of FFFg into it, replace the nipple, cap it and fire the slug out. It only takes 2 or 3 grains to clear the slug out.

What model is it? For an inline you can pull the breech plug out and push the old lod out with the ram rod. This will also let you see if there is a lot of corrision in the breech area. that would be faster than tring to pull the slug all the way out of the barrel.

Im just guessing....but i dont think that is a good idea....who knows whats down there!

I wouldn't sweat it. If the powder was dry the corrosion will be minimal if any at all. I would get a screw extractor and pull the bullet out from the end of the barrel. Run the screw extractor back down after you pull the slug out and make sure there isn't another one stuck down there. Then loosen the powder with the screw and try to get as much as you can out. Then pop on a percussion cap and fire in a safe direction preferably in a non-populated area (as long as there are no slugs still in the gun)

from the Knight websight it looks close to a "bighorn". I'll try pulling the bullet and then a thurough clean. I'll keep you all posted.

You should be able to do like Sagedawg said and push the load out the front of the barrel.

you can buy a c02 cartridge tool that fits over the nipple to blow the round out with air

Pull the breach plug dump the powder and push bullet out

It probably is a bighorn. They used to make them, stopped and replaced them with the wolverine and then came back out with the bighorn again. I've seen those older ones go for $150-$200 at pawn shops.....nice score!
