Title: Rudy the deer
Post by: woodywsu on December 16, 2011, 10:27:29 AM
The thread "Buck Whisperer" reminded me of Rudy.

Our friend Ruby was a button buck that LOVED oatmeal. He would sit at the window and watch the family eat dinner (which was usually deer steaks) and always wanted to come in the house. He was just one of the pets. Enjoy the pics. I have a lot of them. I will post a few.

Sweeet!  We had a similar little buck that would come up on the porch to eat my wife's flowers.   :chuckle:

Rudy started with a phone call from work saying there was a deer in the gated area and we needed to get it outside the fence because wdfw was on its way and they were going to shoot him. I felt that was a poor way for him to go so I picked him up and threw him in a truck and drove him out where I lived at the time (out in the middle of no where with tons of deer). When I got him home he immediately atarted chasing my dog trying to play. It was quite entertaining watching my lab barking her head off running from a deer. Things settled down after a while and they were buds. Rudy must of had a past with humans and pets. I think he was raised as a tame deer and someone got tired of him and dumped him at my work

I had a buddy that had a "pet" deer just show up.  We were out archery hunting and it would follow about 10 yards behind us.  It was a forked horn.  I wish I would have had my camera, could have gotten some pretty funny pics.  He eventually hauled it off deeper in the woods as it was starting to not play nice with his small kids.

Here's a little whitey buck my brother-in-law was grooming in his backyard a few years ago. He'd claw (or should I say hoof?) at the back door if there wasn’t any food set out. Notice the rack builder in the corner of the picture.

Here I am with a fawn buck name Chuck the Buck, "abandoned" by his mother.  Someone raised him this passed summer and turned him loose in a safe area.  He followed us around but sure had a few safe hidden spots when it got scary.

Some good pictures on this thread. Our old neighbors would put grain out and feed the deer back when we leaved up past Eatonville.

There was a buck that grew up around my moms neighorhood.  When he became bigger someone painted his antlers blaze orange to help him get through hunting season.
