Going to order a foxpro wildfire. Wondering what sounds you guys would get for predator hunting on the wet side?
Thanks
Kris

I hear woodpecker distress is good.
-
People honking their horns and don't forget the obsene gestures for a decoy. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
I'm sorry I couldn't resist. You might try a scream'in pup, or scream rabbit. They tend to work well for me, but I'm on the dry side of the state. :twocents:

If you go to the foxpro site you can listen to little snips of the sounds.

House cat in distress!!!! The ultimate wetside yote call. If Foxpro had it I'd buy one too.

After you get your foxpro sounds, don't forget there's lots of free stuff roaming the internet. ms custom calls for example. plus you can rip sounds off youtube vids and such.

Thanks. Id like to try calling cougars, but guess ill call coyotes and bobcats the most. We have a lot of bobcats around the house.
-
Dont forget to get pup distress calls - I think there is one called "coyote death cry", I do good with that. There is also a couple others, 'baby coyotes' and in addition to what Kain said, get 'rodent distress' and a few more of the rabbit/cotton distresses.

Do you guys do your locator and challenge calls with a reed call? Thinking id be better off to get the distress ones in there and do those myself. Also thinking about the cougar in heat. Work with a guy that claims it works in feb march. I remember as a kid valuing in bobcats with the bird sounds. Might grab that blue jay one. Lots if those around the house.

I do the majority of the time. Once in awhile I will use the e-caller for that, just cuz I know the howls are good, but most of the time I will use my Hot Dog, Lil Dog, or Yipper Yapper reed calls.

Use an old worn out double reed elk call for all my pup sounds. But I'd get all the calls you can on the Foxpro. Even if you do not use them for calling they are a great training tool to help you mimic with your mouth calls. It's a great way for someone just starting out to understand pitch and cadence.
-
I dont really use coyote sounds that much but I would definitely get a pup distress for use with the fox bang feature and group howls because those are hard to reproduce by yourself. I like the female whimper as well because I have not mastered how to do it on a mouth call.
For the locator, challenge and female howl you could easily use a open reed.

Sitting here salivating over a ups tracking page wishing for better intel. Hoping it gets here in time for xmas. It's what the kids got me. They don't know it yet. Told the wife I was ordering it and she could wrap it up and put from the kids:) I'm hoping to pop one out in the back field on xmas morning.
