Hey, if your a member on here, the guy who drives the big green truck with the sticker of the olsquaw on it, a suggestion to you would be not to drive down to hunters hunting a public field because you lease some land next to it, and tell them they are breaking the law hunting where they are hunting, unless you are sure... Just because you drive a big truck and it has a loud exhaust, and you guide for ducks doesn't make you special or above anyone else there buddy..... Just so you know, heres the web page that you can go to so you will not drive down while others are hunting and try to throw your weight around...
http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/wqhp/
And so you know, and don't have to do your own research, heres one of the 5 available options in the feel free to hunt field...
Type 4. Some hunt sites will offer adequate cover and/or unpredictable hunting, and therefore will be open field access. This means that hunters (limit of 3) can determine where they would like to hunt within the bounds of the site, and freely move about. Hunters may bring their own layout blinds, but do not dig pits or leave piles of vegetation at the site.
So while we were sitting off the maintained section of the road, which is legal and hunting a open field access, you need to realize and you should that for one, what you did was almost on the side of hunter harassment, however for you, I won't call the game warden like you repeated multiple times due to the fact that we were startling "your" ducks that you were looking at from your house...
As a guide, you should be held to higher standards and not act like that, you really made yourself look like a fool tearing out of there like that and telling someone who is doing everything legal that they wern't...
Thanks kid
Kyle
sorry had to edit because I wasn't sure if it was a dodge, and not sure if the guy is the owner or just someone who works for him

xxlx7,
If he harasses you and threatens to call the cops, do it for him.
Thats what I do. I don't back down. If they want to confront me for no reason, they are gonna get to do it with the cops there or get a visit they won't like.
Cellphone my man, cellphone.

Mark Evans who used to own NS used to do the same. Wasn't very popular with most.

What day was this Sat or Sun?

I had a Banded hunts guide ask "who the f*ck" I was this weekend because he had rights to a field I was about to hunt. I actually was about to walk my dog but carry a shot gun just in case something had a death wish. It was mid-morning and I only needed one bird for my limit on the day. I asked him who he thought owned the field because I have permission. I knew who he thought owned the field but I knew he was wrong. After going back and forth he is starting to doubt who he thinks owns the field. I knew who owned the field, who leases the field, and who subleases the field. I had permission from all three. If your going to jump my ass you at least have to have your facts straight. This is the same group that put there sign up on state land at the beginning of the season. My hats off to them for trying to make a living with hunting but it seems like every few years we get a new guide service that pisses people off. They struggle for a few years while pissing off a lot of people, shaft a few farmers for money, and then disappear. How about just starting with the latter. It would be a lot simpler.

Why wouldn't you just call the owner? Seems pointless to post this rant on here. If I had a problem, I'd go straight to the source and ditch the drama.
A simple google search yielded this info:

Airing such misdeeds on forums such as this is an effective form of modern day social justice.
Seems every season there is at least one thread on guides behaving badly; as it should be if they are acting like jerks. They have the opportunity for rebuttal.
Post away, it’s the hunting public’s trial by internet.

The info typically gets back to the guides quickly if it's posted. Most do read the info on the forums. Some never post though. I would post the info as well.

The reason I posted it is because I was told he is a member on here... kinda an assneck thing to do on his part... That's why I posted it on here, and yes, I do know where he lives and his phone number, but instead of me "harassing him" I am taking the bigger step and just making him aware and others aware that if you hunt the public field by his house, not to put up with his crap.... Ohh and this was sunday afternoon, at about 3pm, he told us that hunters have been screwing up his property by hunting right next to it....

Another fun thing to do with "sea duck guides" is call the USCG Regional Exam Center in Seattle and ask them to do a license search for the "guide" in question. (They can't search business name, you have to have his full name) If it comes back 'no license in USCG system', you've got a guy who is taking passengers for hire on navigable waterways without a USCG license. That's a biggie with the feds and some state LEO. ~That's a fun flag to raise when I've run into "guides" like this.
Just say'n. LOL

OH don't get me started about that tool. We had joining properties....That banana split thing doing crop circles at night in the Barley....He was picking up decoys :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: A real sacko sheet.
It is to bad that NS didn't change their name when the new owners took over. NS just left a sour taste in everyone
-
I was hunting with kyle when this happened......the manner in which this took place beggining with instant threats of calling a game warden and scare tactics taken by this man were uncalled for and quite frankly ruined our hunt. We sat in an empty potato field with decoys set up for 2 hours for the one hen mallard I shot. Upon shooting and going to retireve the bird which fell into the field, in which we were set up he raced down and confronted me. Obviously you did not read the map or look at the aerial photo or see the hundreds of signs marking the QH field. Next time at least know what the **ll you are talking about first. You sir, are a discgrace to sport.
-
I have been hearing about this too much with guide services, mostly in the big game section. I am surpised that in this day and age a guide would do that, knowing full well that eveyrone use's some type of social media :dunno: If I was a guide, I would follow bearpaws example :twocents:

In this state all you need to be a hunting guide is a bunch of stickers on your truck a black hoodie and a big ego.
It's not much better on the fishing side, with the exception we have to be USCG licensed to fish any navigable water. But the state of WA does not verify that and the USCG rarely runs sting operations on fishing guides. They seem to do that about ever 5yrs to scare the guide community.
But all these duck guides who run Puget Sound and the Columbia are required to be USCG licensed. That's why I suggest if he's a sea duck guide you can look into that angle. 9 time out of 10 guides who behave this way are not on the up and up. IRS also is another way to make their lives hell. Just say'n. LOL

It also doesn't help where the areas area much tighter and hard to come by. Then some young kid hits e-bay, buy necklace of bands and gets a few of his other buddies together that like to hunt and start a guide service. They first hit all the areas that they used to watch birds being killed at, pool their money and bump the group that probably has been hunting there for a long time. So, this pisses off that group. Then they hit the next duck producing area and do the same thing with the next farmer and pisses off that group. After bumping groups from say 5-7 areas. Most little honey holes have 5-7 private guys hunting it. The word gets out quick. So, now you have just s**t in your own back yards. Pissed off all the locals or got in there face and bring every mother *** from out of town into your back yard. Then you get the trailer and put every waterfowling sticker you can buy at Sportsman’s on the trailer and are now a guide. If people only new. Then you get into pissing matches on every duck or goose hunting forum, because you kicked everyone out of their spots. This is why the topic is hot on the west side vs. the east side. East side you’re locked out of thousands of acres. West side you’re locked out of hundreds of prime areas mixed in residential areas. Like guides of past they will burn enough bridges or the pissed off groups will come back to the farmers and pool there resources to get there spots back. There is no love for these starts up fly by night guide services. Just because you join DU, WWA, Delta Waterfowl, etc. to get another sticker, doesn't mean you’re now popular.
-
:yeah: :yeah:
Many clubs have came and gone in the Valley. There are a few that have remained for years, Because they fly under the radar and don't piss people off.
It is sad but true, Most good spots will be leased up. It is the clubs that have leased properties for a long time that doesn't pizz off people. They are happy with what they have and don't try and screw others.
Then there are Jackholes like Mark Evans that tried to lease property that others have had for a long time. These fly by night clubs don't last long. Rape n pillage is how they roll.

Next time video the event. I most always have a video camera with me. I was waiting for those video glasses to come on sale the Christmas season to pick a pair up or two. That way you have the entire event documented. You call the LEO's in and let them deal with it.
I am sure it makes the LEO's job easier as he/she see's the video of what happened then can target the interviewing process and deal the tickets out accordingly. It would also make great fodder for this tread.

I would video it, but the GoPro is mounted to my barrel. It might heat the situation up to quickly.

Nope. Legal. It doesn't project a laser, doesn't aid in harvesting birds, it doesn't call them in. Your crossed with archery regs.
-
I dont' see anything in the waterfowl regs saying no electronics attached as a blanket statement.
-
cool so i can hook a electronic caller to my gun barrel LOL better read the regs better. No not just bow hunting. :bash:
-
Can you cut and paste where it spells it out in the waterfowl regs.....I seemed to have missed it.
-
why do you think there are film crews for the goose hunting in Eastern Wa. The use of any electronic devise is illegal. So if I hook my robo duck to my gun barrel is that legal. ANY meaning ANY
-
Please excuse me but I do understand what ANY means.....I simply was asking where it was listed so I could read up.
-
The regs state that it is unlawful to use electronic calls / decoys but in no way do the regs specify the use of electronic video equipment attatched to your gun. Skagit: please read the regs before you make assumptions, there was never speak of the use of electronic calls until you stepped in.
-
do what you want... But any is any. I dont give a ratz azz
-
I understand that you don't give a rats ........ I was just asking for some clarification on your statements. No need to get that huffy.......sheesh.......I understand if you can't show me where it says it....just have to say "I don't know where it says that".
-
Skagit please quote where you read "ANY" electronic device. It only specifies that no electronic calls or decoys may be used. A barrel mounted camera is neither.
-
Im not trying to be a D, just want to know if Im missing something but without a quote or page number there are no facts.
-
hahahha do what you want. do you want to use it. go ahead. It doesnt matter to me one bit. I shoot all the ducks I need with no effort with 2 3/4# 6 in 15 mins any given day. so have fun in the chase... Been there but dont have to anymore. But still scout because the grass is still greener :chuckle:

I don't get it. Didn't think anyone was questioning your hunting abilities. If you ever need help killing a few ducks I would love to shoot a 15 minute limit. Seriously
-
Holg so if I put a 100x lighted sight on my gun is that any diff than a 100x lighted camera.... :bash:
-
:jacked: :jacked: :jacked: :jacked: :jacked: :jacked:
-
There is nothing in the regs that specifies that you cant have a light mounted to your shotgun while hunting waterfowl. Now the big game regs specify that the use of artificial light is illegal, remember there are separate regs for waterfowl and they do not mention the use of artificial light or the use of electronic equipment outside of electronic calls / decoys which are illegal.

:yeah:
This has turned into a back alley abortion gone wrong. From rude guides to spotlights on shotguns....
-
:yeah: True, sorry about the derail xxlx7, sorry to hear about the issue. Good luck out there. Remember to read the regs everyone!
-
read the regs.... electric anything is illegal but do what you want. LOL battery operated is illegal, Boy I would kike a 100X zoom......oops electronic

Kind of early to be drinking that heavily isn’t it? :party1: :party1: :party1: :party1:

Gotta love it when someone jacks their jaw with no facts to base it upon! Apparently skagit hunter is the only one here that needs to read the regs! Because everyone else already has! Funny how he hasn't posted since the facts have been! Everyone PLEASE if you don't know what your talking about when it comes to legal issues please refrain from posting your opinion of the legality! It could misguide someone and get them in trouble! Still everyone needs to read the regs for themselves. :twocents:

Do what you want I don't care. But that is a grey area I won't venture into
-
Nothing grey about it. 100% legal. Something I wouldn't even question. Just a camera without a flash.
