Title: Eberlestock Warhammer
Post by: colockumelk on December 19, 2011, 07:29:12 PM
I just saw this pack. It looks pretty good. It's basically an ALICE frame that they put stuff around to make it an internal frame. Looks pretty solid. I want the Mystery Ranch Crewcab but this pack is about half the price.

Good looking pack, looks a lot like the crewcab.

Yeah it looks ALOT like the crewcab.  Except it costs 2x less  :chuckle:   I love the ALICE pack frame, so this might be the pack I get.  Until now I have been planing on getting a Crew Cab.  But now  :dunno:  Since the warhammer is so close to this and the cost difference  :dunno:  Man now I have more research and thinking to do.  Until this pack came out my mind was made up  :bash:

Not sure. What is local for you? As for me in NY. Nope not even close. As far as packs go I jave to do a lot of research and buy in the blind. Luckily when I buy in the blind I have narrowed it down between two really good product. So its a win win.

Eberlestock packs are made in Boise, ID. You can visit their factory. 100% American.

There are a few threads on snipershide about them being made in Vietnam. It would make sense as there is a ton of labor in one.

If they are made in Vietnam they won't get my business. But on their website it says their factory is in Boise.

I would be very suprised to find that Eberlestock packs are still made in ID. I know they were originally, but just like Badlands (which I believe were first made in UT), once you've gotten your foot in the door and demand increases, you've got to keep up with the demand.  That boils down to overseas labor ($250 pack), or U.S. labor and a $500 price tag like Mystery Ranch.

Jason LIES!!! He's a spy sent from Badlands. (At least that's how I will choose to lie to myself. :chuckle: )

That sucks because they give a 10% military discount. Man not sure what to do now.  :bash:

:chuckle: I figured someone would say that, thats why I added the pic.
But the wife and I just returned from Wholesale Sports and I looked at three Eberlestock packs while I was there, the Blue Widow, Just One and the DragonFly and none of the tags on the packs said where they were made, the tags looked just like the one in my pack except they didn't say made in Vietnam  :dunno:

I love it, replaced my badlands 2200 with it and have been extremely pleased.
I do want to step up to a bigger pack and will still go with something from Eberlestock

Yeah high country I looked on their website and nowhere did they mention made in the USA.

IT'S Gonna be tough to not get the warhammer. That pack is ideal for what I want. But I want to buy American.

Don't feel bad, we all do it. You should not even feel bad for those people in boise that lost their jobs to someone in Vietnam....its their own fault for building a good product.

Merry Christmas!

That's my dilemma. For what a Mystery Ranch CC costs I could buy myself the warhammer and my wife the X2. I want to buy American but  :dunno:  I have the same dillema with optics right now too. I think Vortex is American as I am gonna get.

About 2 years ago the eberlestock factory in boise burnt down....they did have some packs made at that time in vietnam and i wouldnt be surprised if they switched to manufacturing all their line there while rebuilding....my x1 was made in USA bought 2-3 years ago from sportsmans aka wholesale....

also to be considered lots of manufacturers do thing to get contracts with "big" stores like walmart has specific electronics made for them with brand names put on them but very specific price guidelines so the sony tv at walmart is not the same as the sony tv at a smaller shop....

might cut them a little slack and call and ask which are still made here in USA

My j107 dragonfly is 2 years old and is wearing out. The frame is wearing through the pack, and a few of the little hoops have came off.

My Blue widow broke last year. one of the main straps ripped right off the pack. That was the 3rd time it had been used.

I'm selling both packs for damn cheap and saving up to buy something quality and made in the USA.

Sorry I should have clarified. I know their stuff is made in Asia but their company is American owned.
I think unless I get a great deal on kifaru or kuiu, they are out of my price range.  Nimrod makes a great frame but they dont have a pack that interests me. I have wanted the crewcab by mystery ranch for sometime. So maybe I'll end up with that.

But again I love the warhammer concept. I have til April to decide.

Quick question. Does anyone own the mighty timberline? I like the new T2. Does it come with the meat hauled or do I have to buy it seperate.
Title: Re: Eberlestock Warhammer
Post by: Karl Blanchard on January 03, 2012, 10:29:14 PM
Nimrod makes the toughest gear out there hands down!  They are made right here in Washington also!  They have any kind of pack combination you could think of and hands down the best customer service I have ever delt with.  They stand by there products 110%.  You have seen my nimrod in action brother so whats not to like?  I say don't buy your wife anything since she hasn't hunted in like four years and burn some coin on an outragiously expensive pack!  Do it.........Do it.
Title: Re: Eberlestock Warhammer
Post by: colockumelk on January 04, 2012, 11:47:19 AM
My wife isn't getting a pack for a long time.  But when she needs one it'll probably be the X2.  I do like the nimrod pack frame but I don't like any of their packs.   I look at their packs all the time and they just don't do it for me.  I don't know how I could have the pack frame set up as a day pack and still haul meat out.  Also whatever pack I get will probably double as a meat hauler and as a bug out bag in my Apache.  So I also want it to be a military style like the Eberlestock or Mystery Ranch.  I like the function and design of the warhammer and the crew cab.  So it'll be between those.  Plus they offer a military discount

I sent Eberlestock an E-mail on where their packs are made.

My question to Eberlestock
Hello  I am wanting to know where your packs are made? I have an X2 and it says made in Vietnam on the tag, currently I am looking for a bigger pack so I have been looking at other packs of yours and have found that the tags do not say where their made, are all your packs made in Vietnam?
Thanks Jason

Eberlestocks reply
We have factories in California and Vietnam where we manufacture our products.  Most of our commercial products are made in the latter; in the backpack manufacturing industry (you will see this if you go look inside any high-end retail backpack), the best quality and reliability, bar none, comes out of Vietnam, and our operations there have allowed us to develop and manufacture some unprecedented and extraordinary products.

they must use the factory in CA for military products to stay berry compliant

Thanks Jason. If they use the California plant to make their military packs that's good. Because the warhammer I want is the military style, so I can haul elk quarters and use it as a bug-out bag in the event I get shot down.

Colockum, Stay out of bradleys! But you could buy the nimrod and have the pack made the way you want it there. They have some great sew shops that can do just about anything you want. And if you want a nice haircut without the attitude go to song's.

I was in 2-10 for oef7 and oif9/11. I was with the warlords. A co and C co get along nicely. Nobody likes B co generally. You will not find a finer bunch of guys in a more inhospitable base. I also like that that division isn't in your face, its a relaxed professional deal. I thought you were an apache guy?!

I have started to look at these pretty hard. Do you like them a lot? Did you get to pack meat with it. I really like the concept of the "handipack" design for hauling meat and strapping the gear over the top of the meat. I think the compact frame combo would be perfect for my wife and Dad. I am looking at the Bighorn combo. Are the harnesses adjustable on these packs? Anyways please if you could give me a rundown on them. Thanks.

i really do like mine, i think its quite a bang for your buck usa made pack. with the molle frame its very adjustable to your size. i have not packed meat with it as i havent had a successful hunt since ive had it. i do however 3-4x a week pack about 75lbs in it on my evening walk of 2-3mi just to stay in shape and ive packed up to 115lbs while although not comfortable at that weight by no means did it put any wear on the pack. the spotting scope pocket works well.
only thing i dont like and im thinking of mailing the bag back to have them add is a small inside pocket to hold a bladder.

Couesbitten, I have checked out that pack and it looks good but its not exactly what I'm looking for. I want an external frame. But it looks like an awesome pack. I am going to buy myself a Mystery Ranch pack. Just Havnt pulled the trigger on whether or not to get the Longbow or the Crew Cab.
