Title: Tiger mountain thoughts?
Post by: sirfunkeybut on December 27, 2011, 06:30:19 PM
My pup has been pointing naturally lately and was thinking about taking her to tiger mountain around feb. to put her in the head start program. Has anyone had a pup go to head start? I'm just curious of what my pup will get out of it? Any suggestions? They want 800 for the four week program and that's a big chunk of change and it's not something that's not easily obtanable

I think John Greer is the best in this area for pointing lab training.  He sure can put style in a natural point. Nice folks to work with.

I have to agree. It is a lot of money however it will pay off in the end. I think the program price is also pretty reasonable. If you do good quality training for the first few years its engrained forever.

One month isn't enough to really get a lot of results. Spend it on three if you can swing it. If you can't afford three months, find someone close by to you and do weekend workouts with them.

If not, just go to a game bird ranch and spend $800 through the summer and into fall on birds. Putting $800 of birds in your dogs face when he's a bit more mature will pay off more than one month of puppy training. With a grain of salt.......this is as long as you're doing some obedience training and actually working with your dog.

If you're not going to work with your dog and just let it get crazy....definately just send it to someone.

John Greer is a good guy and a straight shooter. He'll tell you exactly how it is and do a good job for you and your partner
