I had 6 of these in my back yard the other day eating apples that were still on the ground, can anyone tell me what they are.

That's a really good bird to have in your backyard.  I'd be setting up perches to get pictures of them.  It has been questioned why they aren't our state bird.  Anyone who spends any time in the woods will recognize their call.  It's a long single note whistle.

Many people confuse them for Robins.   They act alot alike.

 Great bird, I had my first last week as well. They do hang out in mixed flock's with the Robin's making it difficult to ID them.
