I think we all need to take a few minutes and pen a nice thank you note to the fine folks in Idaho  :twocents:

I understand it is illeagal to kill wolves in Wa but is it illeagal to have a community wolf drive, I suggest driving them in an easterly direction.

I owe that trapper a beer.... :party1: :brew:

Did you notice this comment in the news story?

Quote
Since July, hunters have been keeping track of sightings around the state and while that tally runs far higher, the state's working wolf population estimate has been a minimum of 25 to 30 adults and yearlings, a figure that probably will go up as it does not count pup production.

Sad news!
I wonder if this means it will be counted as a transient pack. Therefore deducted from the Breeding pairs total.

I did and I don't see how it applies to this thread. That wolf was killed in a completely legal manner nor has anyone mentioned doing anything or applauding anything illegal on this thread.

If you're referring to me, I'm not baiting anybody. I'm offering a different point of view.  And FYI I didn't post anything in the comments on that article. As I've stated before, I have no problem with legally trapping or shooting a wolf.  My posting about wolves here was a response to all the negativity I see on this site about wolves. Trying to shine a ray of hope here. Wolves aren't the end of hunting.

I hadn't mentioned any name.

As far as the detriment to hunting, I guess your opinion might reflect whether you live in:  Elk City, Idaho; Gardner, MT; Cody, WY; Stevens County, WA; or downtown Seattle!

Some people have lost their livilhood to wolves while others have made money promoting their cuddliness to well meaning but unknowing people!  :twocents:

I guess I will have to cry myself to sleep tonight, how could anyone be so mean to a defenceless animal that could not protect itself from a cruel and horrible man made killing device.  Dam I wish we could do the same as our eastern neighbours.

The wolf issue gets so much attention by hunters for one reason. LACK OF TRUST!  Attitude is a reflection of leadership. The WDFW & USF have provided very little positive leadership regaurding the documentation and management of wolves... If you search the Hunt Wa topics about wolf sitings you will see a PILE of 3rd party documentation ( Seattle times, PI articles ect.) that wolves have been here since the 70's. By thier very nature they are difficult to document. I have personally seen wolves in the Skagit valley, and have seen a pic taken of a whole pack her in the valley. (the Valley is in NW washington) The WDFW just dismissed the pics of the pack, documentation of the time location, pics of tracks with size refernces ect.... This is NOT just a bunch of E Wa ranchers that are upset at the lack of action by our WDFW...
Why would a hunter think the WDFW has thier best intrest at heart if they would not accept the help offered in documenting wolves by tribes?

Now that's something to complain about. Seriously. Outlawing leg hold traps and Conibear type body grip/instant kill traps is a ridiculous turn of events in Washington.
