Wyatt's first kill, on his 11th birthday with a single shot 20 gauge. I'm hoping we can make this a yearly tradition. He looked at me and said "I just can't get the smile off my face". So much for worrying that he was bored. Of course we could have done real well on Mallards if I wasn't trying to figure them out the first day. Then when I thought we had them they were gone on day 2. When we finished it was off to Taco Bell then to Bi Mart. I told him he could pick anything in the store. We are going to try again tomorrow.

Well we tried a different spot and a couple groups had already set up so we threw some dekes in the big river and struck out. Blue bird day. Still had a great time. Not going to mount this one, just going to eat it.

-
great job, at least someone still has sight of what is fun bout hunting. TAKE A KID !
-
Can someone tell me the best way to preserve a bird in the freezer before it gets to a taxidermist? The kid made an incredible shot on a drake widgeon today and wants to put it on the wall
-
I was told to put the bird in Panty hose. It keeps the feathers in place until the taxi is ready to mount it. Might want to send a message to one of the taxis on this site to make sure.
-
I'm fresh out of panty hose :bash: :chuckle:
-
DO NOT put the bird in pantyhose...just put it in a garbage bag and wrap it up.
-
I rolled it up carefully in a plastic bag and it's in the fridge :dunno:
-
Here's the happy hunter!
