Heading over to Winthrop this weekend with my wife and brother/his wife. Spend a lot of time there in the summer but I've spent very little time there this time of year. I was wondering if anyone has any advice where to look for some bucks to photograph. I don't really know where they hang out in the winter. If anyone knows where the moose are that would always be fun too! :)
Thanks for the help!

Twisp withrop hwy mostly the twip end! But your best off heading up the road to sun mountain lodge. There are deer everywhere back there when the snow is there.

Just got back from the Winthrop on Monday. There hasn't been the usual amount of snow up to this point, so a lot of the deer are up higher than normal. The hills above Lake Pearrygin should be a good place to look. The road to Ramsey Creek is plowed up to Sullivan Pond, which should be a good place to start (there may be people sledding down the road, so be careful). I saw a real nice 4-pt on the hill above the shooting range on Sunday.

We were at our cabin all last week snowmobiling the best bet is around Lake Pearrygin as all the roads in the 218 are closed for skiing and sledding not far off the main road and closed at 8 mile. Elbow coulee between Winthrop and Twisp also a good road with some nice deer around twin lakes. As far as moose go we were all the way at the end of 30 mile which is 22 miles by snowmobile and ran into a bull moose on the road eating willows he had already dropped his antler's though. Forgot go up the Rendezvous RD good number of deer in there.

My buddy is on here and lives in Twisp. He got pictures of two really nice bucks when he went out last weekend. I will call him tomorrow (when I have cell service again) and ask him if he would be willing to help you out.

I live on the wet side therefore I do not shed hunt and it didnt even cross my mind that he wouldnt want to share his spots because of shed hunting. Sorry, but he did say that there are a lot of deer moving down so just cover the sage brush areas. Good luck and have fun!!!!

I wasn't much help. I haven't been going up because with the lack of snow most everything has pulled back. Budget times at my house so I have put the V-elves with their little fuel cans at rest. I hope he finds something though I'd be guardedly optimistic.
