Pretty cool little stove...
http://biolitestove.com/CampStove.html
A 2 pound stove which burns wood, twigs, pinecones.... Excess heat produces enough electricity to run a fan to increase stove efficiency by blowing air into the burn chamber. Extra electricity is available for charging a cell phone or other usb charged device. Less wood burned, less smoke, free electricity.
$129.00 pre order...
What do you think? Pretty damned ingenious if you ask me.

pretty neat tool for many reasons, lighter than I thought it would be
-
Id like to see that in person, curious how well it works!
-
That looks rather nice but I want the white man version. You know - white man build big fire - stand way back. I don't have a motorhome but there must be a way to power one with a bigger fire. :chuckle:
-
I wish I was smart enough to make something like that $$$$
I like the woman in Africa with the larger stove and 10 usb cables :dunno: :chuckle:
Great idea!
Pretty cool...To bad I just bought one of these
-
Great idea, but I'd hate trying to pack that thing in a backpack. Looks like it would take up a ton of space! And if I'm car camping I'm taking a stove that I can make a decent meal on.
-
8 1/2" X 5" seems pretty small to me. Neat idea. If I'm using this though, I am probably out of cell phone range but if they had gps units that would recharge with a usb, it could be pretty handy.
-
Actually really cool, I just don't know how often I would use it. Now if they could make something that did the same thing and also heated your backpacking tent I'd be all in!

Yeah, that was what I was thinking, then I checked it out, same basic size as a large naglene bottle...

this I think is an awesome tool for any emergency, keep a cell phone charged, some heat,light..I am really considering one

Said something about boiling water...this could replace my jetboil? I'll bookmark it.
-
I'll be buying one when I can clear the money. When the end times come and the power grid crashes, at least I'll have the music on my cell phone for entertainment
-
Uh oh' folks, looks like another one of those crazy "preppers"!
:chuckle:
-
cant be to prepped
-
I probably produce more electricity by farting than that thing can produce, but I'm not going to shove any usb cables up there or anything else for that matter.

BUT WAIT! THERE"S MORE!!! Tired of usb cables hanging out your ass?Sick of the chaffeing and cable burns? Try the new Flatulence Fan by ronco...

:yike:

Looks interesting but I wish they'd say more about the electric specs...

Apparently they make a bigger one for real cooking. They compare wood useage to a traditional rocket stove and is pretty comparable. I too would like to read more about the power generated .
-
When I use to rent a satellite phone it had roll up solar charger. It would take some time to get it to charge but you did not want to talk long as it was expensive. Now days you can do the same with the Spot tool to send text messages to accomplish a communication to loved ones on how you are doing.
-
So why can't they put one of those things on a home pellet stove so they will work when the power goes out? Never understood that. I might buy one then.
-
I bet it'd be great in the duck blind. Might have to get me one!
-
Radsav, they already sell those little fans which set on your stove and are powered by the heat..... same principle, just a cool way to get a usb charger port on the device as well. I love the idea...

Yeah I've seen those. But none of them feed pellets into the stove. At least not that I have seen. I do like the idea of the charger for the tent stove. Very cool.
-
Yeah, wouldnt a self feeding pellet stove be cool.
-
I really like the idea, one question thou. If you are backpacking and in a area that says no fires can you use this stove?
-
I would think so but you never know with some of the goofy interpretation of rules.
