The archery groups are lobbying the dept. to go back to the Sept 8 archery elk start date.  I have heard nothing about changing the late archery deer seasons.  Problem with late archery dates is that alot of units that are open to late archery have late special permit rifle hunts in the days just before the archery season starts.

NOPE!   Late season has been starting on Nov 21 for several years now.  This fall, if all stays the same is gonna be a bugger, because T-day is the 22nd and so most will have to wait until family obligations are done before they hunt. Leaving those who can get away for the opener, a better shot with fewer hunters..(I'm thinking)

Depends what units you're talking about. My 2011 reg's for late archery deer show Nov 21, Nov 23, or Nov 24 for starting dates.

nov 21 for what units? The E WA opener for deer has been Nov 25 last year and this year it was the 24th....I think is complete BS..close the woods down to 1,000's of archers so 5 guys...5!! guys can purse whiteys with a rifle per gmu..effing BS. This topic boils my blood.

I hunt south of spokane. season started the 24th. day one lots of activity, same for day two, then like a light switch they stopped running around and were grouped up and bedded most of the day, and every day after that,  just two friggin days in my area. heard the rumor, and was hoping for the best. think im going to rifle now.

You don't have the reg's?  The GMU's that opened on the 21st would be 209,215,233,243,250

Thanks Bobcat.  I quess I am myopic when it comes to the late deer season.. nice catch.

While I would like an earlier start,  having a general late muley season is worth allow the modern a few permit tags and pushing us back a few days compared to the alternative plan which would have done away with one of my favorite hunts of the year.   Just sayin'

Well, I hate wearing orange when I bowhunt.  The rifle lobby is much bigger than the archery lobby.  It could have been much worse.
