What tools are an absolute must have for cleaning and general maintanance. I know I need a barrel wrench and i'm thinking about the DPMS barrel wrench/ multi tool. Is this a good one. What else do I need to get . Also i'm thinking I want a free float quad rail handguard. Right now it just has DPMS glacier guard (boring). Will any manufactures handguard work. Thanks Allen

For normal cleaning and maintenance? Normal cleaning stuff, a rifle vise is nice as is a bore guide. The only other thing I would want handy is a sink with hot water for washing parts.

I've got all the regular stuff. I just thought you needed more specialized items to disassemble for cleaning.

Nope, an AR is designed to be field-stripped for maintenance without any tools. The only out of the ordinary thing you will want to have is a chamber brush. An occasional shot of carb clean down the gas line is nice but be sure to blow the line clear with compressed air afterward. Hot water is about as good as it gets for cleaning out the upper and lower receivers.

Grease it up with Break Free when your done cleaning it.
