Title: Rufus
Post by: jagermiester on January 12, 2012, 09:07:42 PM
My dad wants me to take him to Rufus next weekend. Any time my dad says let's go fishing I jump at the opportunity! Let's see some pictures to get me more excited.

theres some pics from this summer when the fish are more active and these were caught on rooster tails, the top pic was 12 lbs and the lower pic was like 2. this fall and (winter) ive been catching some big fish, averaging 8-12 lbs in the past month.

Big fish like big bait

Well it worked I'm excited. Hopefully we can rope a few walleye. I don't think my dad will want to go out for a night fish so we will probably just try some blade baits up high above the net pens?

blades work good at the end of the rope at the lower pens as well  :twocents:

Both Grand Coulee and CJ were putting out some water today.  The river should be running good at least tell thursday so if you have the chance to go I would!

Not to discourage you, but check the forcast.  Lots of snow predicted very shortly.  Just a though if you're pulling your boat.  Also, predicting rain and freezing rain by weeks end.

The boat is already on the east side. And cold dry weather does not scare me I used to fly fish in Montana year round

ya its aluminum riveted and it leaks, no top oh yeah and the big moter is having gasket problems so I will probably only use the kicker and electric. Hey does anyone know of a good website that will show the flows through the dams, water temps?

u cant get that information for rufus woods unfortunately. and to prevent more leaks in the boat maybe hit the car wash after u drag it up and down the roads, the county and DOT will be spraying the roads for sure this weekend.

We just got back from our 5th annual winter rufus trip and we limited both days.  No hogs but fast limits, good thing too because it was dang cold.  Biggest fish was around 9 with our average being around 5.  Caught and released quite a few 2 pounders with a black jig.  We are heading back over next month again.

You just cast and jig like a marabu jig or do you troll it? I was thinking of trolling a leach pattern with my fly rod

casting maribou's has been working good for me as well as plunking bait. doesnt matter color of powerbait. BUT hint hint= special scent does.

Is it anise?
Is it shrimp?
Is it garlic?
Is it butt juice?
I could do this all night so why don't you just tell me.
