I went out for a quick morning Jumpshoot today, I suspected my jump shooting honey hole would be frozen but when I got there I could hear the widgeon whistling, I snuck up on the sound and jumped 3 or 4 hundred, :yike: my first 2 shots found their mark but the third missed. 2 birds down.
Next section was the same deal, I snuck up on the whistling and jumped another several hundred  First shot dropped 2, second shot dropped 1 third shot dropped another. I reloaded and added up my down birds realizing I already had six down when the Golden Eye came Screaming down the Slough Bang........ 7 down :chuckle:

From the time I left the truck to the time I got back with my limit was just under an hour, A great shoot, only problem was I had to find something to do for the rest of the day. :dunno:

Looks like a great shoot for sure. Some nice birds

Awesome! Great shooting!

Sounds like a great day! Awesome shooting!

Good shooting for sure. Nice looking dog, mine is 4 months old but still comes with me to the blind.
I saw hundreds of Geese Friday morning but none were within range & didn't want to skybust & spook them for Sat. hunt, they are some skittish birds down here.
They must have remembered what happened to their cousins last year!!!

My dog Beamer, is just over 2 years old, he pretty much has the duck hunting thing figured out. The highlight of the day for me was watching him jump off the bank into the water with 5 downed birds within 50 feet of each other and deciding which one to retrieve first. as always it was the one that was still moving. :)

Good Job! Looks like one proud dog there.

Good shoot. GE are fun to shoot.

Looks like a great shoot! Congrats  sounds like a good spot to decoy

Not so many Widgeon today, took me a couple hours to limit out. I guess this is a good spot when it's half frozen. :dunno:

Now theres a good looking batch of birds! We got a widgeon saturday that wouldve been on my wall if not for the broken wing. I think the late season birds are much better looking than the early season birds.

Thats A good looking pup, She oughta be ready for next seasons opener  I hunted for several years without a dog and now I don't think I could go without.

I've been duck hunting for 7 years & I was the retriever but enjoyed hunting with my buddies choc lab for a few seasons.

Congrats on some good limits. If you have spots with several hundred ducks that you are jump shooting you should consider grabbing some decoys and setting up on them. You will shoot your limit in one spot instead of only getting two birds and educating the rest. I love jump shooting and so does the mutt but if I have that many birds it is time to set up and decoy them into your lap!! It sounds like you have a great spot! It should be good right up to the end of the season!

Anas americana! Lots of widgeon in the first pic! Looks like a great spot!

No Deke's here per the agreement that I have with the Land owner, although it would be fun to shoot em "Feet down" backpeddling over the spread I have to go elsewhere for that.
