:) I think I need one. I am convinced I need a really GREAT lower, a wonderful trigger. I like the collapsable stock, I think?? I want a 223/5.56, 20 inch barrel LIGHT. flat top. must be accurate. maybe HBAR barrel. I might get heavy barrel later or other cartridges or short light barrel. I want a FSRH(or whatever initials) hand guard not a round one. I might buy two, I saw these kits to build one for less than $600.00, would be a good way to learn all about them. Lets hear it guys, what do ya'll say.

Kits are a great way to go. Just make sure if you want a really good trigger you don't just get a plain kit. Most time the high end kits with good triggers will run you 125-300. Some kits you can get with the upper already done so you don't have to worry about doing the head spacing and such. There is a lot of kits that you can just add a 80-200 lower in and build a good gun. Mine will always end up with about 5 different comapines gear in it :chuckle: Give me the chance to make it custom to my likes. PSA has some very good kits as will and I think if you spend 250+ its free ship as well

they are addicting though, be forwarned! I should have my 6.5 Grendel AR together next week, and Im already scheming on what other ones to build!
I assembled my lower from parts, it was fun, and super easy. Good luck, keep us posted!

Collapsible buttstock and accuracy are two different things....start with an A2 or skeleton stock.
I agree on the trigger...Rock River two-stage is the most cost effective.

i dissagree. i can consistently hit clay pigeons at 300 yards with and eotech 553 on my ar with a collapsible stock.

If we are talking about more than 1/20 at a real 300 yards, that is impressive. I am guessing a very good rest from an above average gun in terms of accuracy using good ammo if not handloads and an above average shooter. A collapsible stock I can see with an Eotech but that kind of shooting with a 1x optic that uses a 1MOA dot is well beyond what the average guy can do.

Exactly...beat me to it.
That's winning a Service Rifle competition accuracy.
Repeatable cheek weld is key to repeatable accuracy and the fashionable collapsible buttstock does not allow that.
Here's a random video on accurate AR's...not a collapsible in the bunch.

That is why you put your nose against the charging handle, try it.

I dont fully understand that...
I also dont see a problem here, is this not accurate? This thing outshoots every bolt gun Ive seen, and it has an adjustable stock on it.
This is the last Grendel I built, I used a 18" stainless Alexander Arms match barrel. Had it turned down and lightened up, threaded 5/8-24 for a suppressor and shortened to 17". Scary accurate with Factory Hornady 123 A-max match loads.

This is my Grendels best 300 yards groups shot last fall with Hornady match 123gr .
