I have been using pellets in my elkhorn with good luck
the charge would go off every time and had good groups.
The real question is Iam buying a new bighorn or disc extreme
and plan on using musket caps would loose powder or pellets
work best and what type.I want to use tmz or tez bullets.
thanks

are you going to sell your elkhorn?

I have never tried pellets so I really can't comment on which is better, but I use loose powder because I see no advantage in using pellets, and loose powder costs a lot less. With the pellets you would eliminate the step of measuring each powder charge, but that's the only advantage I see. Loose powder has the advantage of being able to use the exact load that your rifle shoots most accurately.
If I were you I would try both and find out which works best for you. For loose powder I like Triple 7.

With powder you get a better burn rate and can also play with loads to find the best results in your gun. With pellets you get 100 or 150g.

i read somewhere that someone is producing 30 oz pellets also.

for 50cal you can buy the T-7 pellets in 30's or 50's...I would still run loose powder. I have left the pellets behind. Loose powder is the way to go for dialing in a ML and $$ IMO

short alot and see what load works best. I will keep
my elkhorn and let my son use it as a starter gun.
