The past 2 days have held exceptional duck hunting for me. After being stuck on the west side for 10 days, I was excited to hit it hard.
Friday I went jump shooting by myself through the snow. Got a limit of 5 greenheads and 2 hens.
8 shots 7 ducks. Good day...
Here are 6 of the ducks from that shoot. 1 of the drakes was really dinky, and one of them lost his head while i was hoofin' them back to the truck.

Saturday started @ 4:00. I got the truck set up and picked up 2 friends and 1 of their boats. The trek to the columbia was pure ice but we made it.
Things were slow. Real slow. We had about 50 dekes out and a 120 yard long line. By 11:00 we had 1 bluebill in the blind. Buffleheads were about the only thing coming in. Long story short, a pair of Canvasbacks came in perfectly and they were dusted off. My first canvasback and I was happy as could be. It was the bird that I had set out to shoot. Thinking about getting a mount.

What do you guys think about a mount on one of em? Anyone know a good taxidermist for ~$200?
Thanks

SWEET.... I want a canvas badly .... always see them after the season ends :dunno:

Nice work! That's a trophy for sure, best get that up on the wall. You never know when they'll pull the plug on them altogether-it was only 4 years ago when there was no season on Cans.

I'm not sure the exact price, but I know it was under $300. Moved to this guy as our previous taxidermist had gotten way too pricey.

I am impressed by the shot of the dead birds on the kitchen counter. A very understanding wife or a bachelor!! Nice day of shooting

Based on the duck prices I see on your facebook, I think I'll be contacting you after the season.

Nothing quite like the splash of a C-Back hitting the water! They are certainly my favorite. Good job!

Say they have more habitat problems and a dip in #'s and they close up the season again. I'd regret not mounting it then. Good job on 3

Got the bird into Thomas @ Old Heritage Taxidermy in the Wenas. Talked with him for a long time. Seemed like a great guy. Told him to come check out the site!
