Friend of mine has a very old six shooter. I think it breaks in half but didn't bother figuring it out. Long barrel, wood grip. it says on it:
black powder only .44 cal - on the barrel
colt's patent
made in italy
Any help would be appreciated.
-
Probably an Uberti colt replica.
-
Sounds like CP hit it right on the nose.
-
without looking at it,, if it breaks in half, sounds kind of like a schoefield. the old cavalry prefered them to the colt, as it was easier to unload and load while on horseback.
-
Thank alot for replies so far. I think it had a U,,, and some other letters in one symbol. Rough estimate of a value CP? It is in very good shape!
-
looked up uberti... yep, looks like this one! Again, rough price estimate? Thanks

thats no schoefield... but doesnt look like a '58 or a .60 44 or 36?
-
it says on the barrel
black powder only .44
or similar to that
-
how heavy is it? might be a dragoon model.. i just held up my colt navy 36 against your pic, so its not that.
-
Looks like a Dragoon and in good shape.
Depending on the model and condition it would be worth $250 to $350. Check out Uberti’s site for a new price and figure about 2/3 or so of that. I have an Uberti colt in .36 and it’s a nice little gun.

mine is a uberti also. i had a colt walker, and it was damn impressive,, but perfectly useless.
-
Don't think its a repo....
Its quite heavy. dunno the exact weight. and i know its a .44. Thanks for all the help guys. If I see it agian, i"ll get pics
-
if it says blackpowder only, then its not an original.. back then, there was nothing else to load it with. does it look old and beat or kinda rusty? if so, maybe someone didnt clean it very well.
-
It wouldn't be made in Italy if it was an orginal.
-
Itcould be a 1860 Colt Navy reproduction. they are a odball in the navy line .EFI made some of these that were a take off of the dragoon. Is your Friends a brass or a steel frame? If It' brass it might be worth $100 max You can but a new steel frame one from Cabela's for under $350 last I looked.
I've had and still have several Colt Navys 1851 & 1861.
