Anyone have one looking for Pros/Cons
-
Are you talking rifle scope or spotting scopes? That will help a lot
-
I have both Nikon rifle and spotting scope...not to mention Nikon bio's and range finder....love me some Nikon
-
With the quality you get for the price, they made the most sense to me. If you hold out a while there is usually a pretty sweet sale or kicker that comes with them too. I haven't heard much bad about them other than they aren't ford and aren't chevy blah blah blah. I got the buckmaster 3-9x40. I've only had it 3 months but I'm not kind to it and it puts up with me just fine.
-
Sorry rifle scope probly buckmaster 4x12x50
-
I have two of their cheap pro staff 3-9 BDC scopes, they work awesome, hold zero always, uber clear and bright optics. Also have a 550 range finder, works great!
-
I have two big Monarchs, a pair of Premier LX 'nocs and had a BM 6-18.
The Monarchs and binoculars are outstanding.
Clear, forgiving....They're awesome.
The Buckmark had significant flare at highest magnification and I couldn't keep it because of it.
Lower magnification and it was great.
At 9x, you should have a very useful scope.
I shot a guy's 22lr that had a ProStaff 4x and it was excellent.
I like Nikon.
-
I have a monarch on my 270 WSM with the BDC and really like it.
-
I think when I finally get enough toolbox cash stored away I will be putting a nice Nikon on the rifle I get.
-
Sorry to hijack but would any of these hold up to a magnum type rifle? I have no problems on a .223 but was wondering about a .300 RUM or similar.
-
Between my sons and I, we have several Nikons, both Monarch and Buckmaster, all with the BDC reticle. If you spend the time at the range practicing with the BDC and the info from Nikon's Spot On website, it really is a great scope. wraithen, I have a 300RUM with a Vortex Viper, but I wouldn't be concerned at all about putting a Nikon on a 300RUM.
-
I shoot a 300 WSM with a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14x40 on it and I like it alot. Nikon makes the lenses for Leupold scopes, or at least that is what I heard from a salesman and a few others.
-
Good to know, thanks guys. I was afraid that one day when I get a long range hunting rig I would have to buy a 1k dollar scope. I'm liking the idea of using something half that price so my wife doesn't beat me up with it.
-
I have Buckmaster 3x9x40's on my both of my son's rifles. They took abuse on the trail for three seasons on their 243's then we've moved them to 270's and a 30-06 have not had issue with either. I'd compare them to a Leupold VXII all-around.

I have had a good one and a bad one. So I will stick to my leupolds :chuckle:
-
Have the buckmasters 3x9x40 on a 06 with no complaints. Looking to put a new scope on the AR which will be a nikon. Just not sure which one.
-

Why mess around go with a leupold !
-
I have a few. My favorite is my Monarch 5-20X44AO with a Custom Kenton Industries turret. I love the quality but have not had to test the customer service.
What happens to warranties when you put after market turrets on your scopes ???

Yeah I had one on an 300 ultra mag held true through an through till I traded it kept the scope put it on my 22-250 love it, it is the older buckmaster too

I did spot on the same thing with my monarch a couple days ago. but I picked up a new 300rum a day later after giving up my old one. which I got a new scope for and forcing me to pair up my lonely monarch with a new 22-250

 This is my combo as well. Just make sure you get good mounts as I had the recoil break the factory ones.

money is a big issue when it comes to optics and hunting gear for me when i started hunting i paid 250$ for a pair of steiner binos they lasted about three years fell apart next pair bushnell lasted two years junk next pair swarvoski much more money mutch beter glasses life time warranty done buying glasses for the rest of my life unless i decide to buy the liecas with the built in range finder those are trick
-
I shoot a 4.5x14x40 on my 300WSM and haven't had any problem holding 0. I've been told that Nikon makes the lenses for Leupold also. I like the rubber molding on the back of the eyepiece as it's saved me a couple of scars already!
-
just put a nikon 4-12 power scope with the bdc reticle on my elk rifle and love it. havent had a chance to use the reticles yet but im loving it so far !!
-
+1... actually about +6! Plus a pair of monarch Binos. Dollar for dollar they're tough to beat, but getting up to Monarch prices (I have 1) I'd rather go Leupy... For the affordable (<$300) scopes on the regular, beatin' around, huntin' rifles... you just can't beat them.
-
I just bought a 5-20 x 44, it came with two sets of turrets. On sale at Wholesale Sports.
-
I have several on my rifles, been knocked around, dropped and never had an issue. Nice durable, bright scope for the money. Nikon makes some of the best camera lenses in the world, they know optics. :twocents:
-
I like my 4-16x42 Monarch SF A LOT!
Only con for me is the logos have a cheesy gold finish that needs to be painted over.
-
i have owned a prostaff a coyote special and a m.223 and have been satisfied with the quality of them all for the price. the only thing i wasnt too excited about was the BDC reticle. other than that they are great optics
-
I have a 2.5x10 Monarch on my long range coyote rig that works just great. My 35 Whelen wears a 1.5x4.5 Monarch now, it ate the VariX II 1x4 I started with on it. I'm very pleased with Nikon scopes. I tried the Coyote Special but didn't care for all the little circles, too busy for me.

I've had my buckmaster on a 300 ultradeath mag an held true on there before I got rid of it an its on my 22-250 now, still works fine

I have a feeling that I saw a post just like this back on March 1st. Oh wait I did. :chuckle:

Wraithen-I've got a Buckmasters 4.5x14 on my Tikka 300WSM Lite. It's been on there for 3 years and through a lot of rough hiking and riding and it's true. Never had any problems with it at all.
