what you mean by this

Always heard if it tastes like colone leave it alone..... Oh I'm going to be so sorry for this one.... But if it tastes like fish, eat as you wish...
-
MOUNTAIN LION is good eating. Just ignore these guys! Well worth saving the meat if you get a pop at one. Good Luck!
-
ill at least give it a try
-
Just make sure the unit your hunting in is open. It is excellent, as good as any deer or elk meat.

I'd read the regs carefully about East Okanogan, as they have the hound seasons that exclude boot hunting. Steven's Pass is towards there, but I think it's still open. Still, look up the area specifically in the pamphlet.
It's very good eating meat. Very mild. It's got an excellent flavor. Not gamie at all. More like pork.
I had a similar experience when I told a LEO friend that I had "...Got a Cougar on New Year's Eve." He looked at me like, "I didn't think you were that kinda guy!" Which I'm not, and it took me a day or two to realize why he'd looked at me like that!
("Cougar" is a euphamism for an experienced woman, who is, well... "on the prowl.")

its awefully good to me. some folks are not into eating carnivores, but it makes no difference to me.
-
Mountain lion is pretty good, I've eaten it once and I liked it.
"Cougar" on the other hand can be very tasty, depending on hows its cared for in the field... :chuckle:

Eat first, shoot later.

We took one to Fischer Meats in Issaquah a couple years ago and they wouldn't touch it. Said other butchers would do the same. Something to do with a parasite called "Trichonosis spiralis" in the muscle tissue. We decided not to mess with it. :dunno:
-
No different then bears, I'd find a new butcher that does bear meat. Mine here in Spokane does em just fine.
-
It's very good. ;)

Hay Firefighter, I've eaton lots of it and it's just like porkchops, no lie! If you don't want it I'll meet you somewhere and take it! Just Shoot the damn thing! STB

Cabin,
If you are worried about Trichonosis spiralis I sure hope you dont eat squirrels or pork, because they have the same parisite in thier muscle tissue. All it takes is to make sure it is fully cooked before you eat it.

luvtohnt,
I never said I wouldn't eat cougar meat. Would really like to try it, actually. I only said the butcher shops we talked to wouldn't touch it because of the trichonosis parasite. At that time we didn't butcher any meat ourselves, so we were left with it.
