My dad and I drew the Nov. 20-29 archery deer tag for Entiat, and i was just seeing if anyone has have ever hunted it before. Anything would help...maybe just a good starting point, or general area would be nice. Thanks

That is a great hunt congrats! There's some AWESOME deer in that area but last year the buck crop was real immature... Still some around but not like usual... This year should hopefully be better and the Chelan CO deer wintered REALLY well...
Depending on weather I'd hunt high up the Potato Creek area or Mud Creek, both have a LOT of deer that time of year, but they will be skittish after the rifle tag guys have been there. I'd also check out the Skeliko area but that could be hard or easy for archery hunters depending on how you look at it. Lots of little cuts and knolls but very open...
The thing do to during that time of year is to actually utilize the roads (BRING CHAINS!) and check out lots of areas until you find a buck worth going after. The Oklahoma Gulch area is VERY nice as well. You should have no problem seeing 15-20+ bucks a day...

Congratulations Chaseace. Here is a serious reply:
1. This is a fairly small unit with lots of good road access. You really should go over their and learn the roads and look at the country. Don't scout for deer because they (mostly) migrate in from the higher Cascades. The deer will be there in late November.
If there is a lot of snow focus your hunt on the lower end; Mud Creek to the Columbia River.
2. The unit was burned in 1994 so it is wide open and easy to spot deer. Your challenge will be to get a 15 to 35 yard shot. Success is pretty high but don't plan to connect on the first stalk.
3. Drive a 4x4 and carry chains for all four tires. Bruce Wick is the outfitter in the area who could provide transportation and he knows every inch of that country. If you have wheels and learn some roads, you should be okay on your own.

i would also check out crum canyon. theres a little more cover in there, and it may be a little easier to put a stalk on a buck. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CHAINS!!!

I think you're talking about Dale, not Bruce... I worked for Icicle last year and Dale is the brother. They both know that area really well.

2007 entiat late tag

i think that maybe it needs to be re sized, but it's my first time posting a pic, and don't really know how to do it. I'm working off of about 5 minutes of instruction, so bear with me if it's not perfect. I have a few more decent pics that i would like to post when i figure out exactly how to do it.

Good call Michael. I got the names superimposed and backwards. Thanks.

Aint that the truth... I remember someone in a red truck watching me and another member haul a buck out up somewhere and seeing a moose aswell! :chuckle:
Of course that was the absolute last buck left in the unit!
