It seems that everyone is going to the Rhinehart targets for club use. I know our club Silver Arrow Bowman has been replacing more of its older McKenzie targets with them. My question is Who has used other targets for club 3d events and such? What about other brands like Glen Del, Shooter buck, Delta, or??? I'm mostly curiouse what "other" targets people have used in a heavy use program like a club setting. What did you like and what didn't you like. Thanks

WE at Whidbey have gone completely Rinehart.. best target out there. Well I should say we have 39 Rinehart targets now anyway. WE do still put out two other styles as they are relatively brand new... the mackenzie buffalo and huge grizzly which is not even a year old. There is no comparison though for durability, ease of pulling arrows and just plain nicer quality... Rinehart is the best.

Rhinehart targets are great looking targets my only problem with them is the scoring rings can be confusing for some shooters. The other problem is most clubs that have them tend to get to many of the odd little targets like the baboon, jakealope,giant frogs and the little boo boo bears. I don't mind the little targets but when I leave a 3-d course and have shot more dinosaurs than deer it seems a little weird.

What are you talking about? You should be used to little bears!

Boo boo bears the size of a house cat. The bears I shoot are closer to lab size. Who asked you anyway.

Good point. Please forgive me. As you have stated before, the little ones are easier to carry out. Granted...this year....I may just shoot one off his momma's teat if I get the chance.

I know the smaller Rhineharts are popular because the rings get shot out so bad so they are popular because its easy and cheep to replace the cores. I know the Rhinehard deer are not cheep. we just orderd some more deer and they averaged about $400. Cost a few bucks to get a whole shoots worth... :twocents:
Has anyone been to a shoot that used deer of the other manufactures i mentioned?

My post got ate when the site went down. I have shot them all and love the rhineharts :tup: I know they are spendy as hell to have and keep up. The problems with the other brand is they just don't tend to last as long. So a lot of the clubs are phasing more into the rhineharts. Some of our local clubs have run some of the different brand but everyone always wants more rhineharts. I don't think the glen buck even has score rings does it? just vitals or blank.

Even the larger deer targets etc have replaceable inserts for the kill zones on Rineharts... cheasper than replacing the complete animal or section like delta and Mackenzie...

I will disagree with that one. I can get a repleacement for my delta for about 30.00 or buy a whole new deer for about 150.00. How much is the replacement vitals for a rhinehart muley? :chuckle:

WOW... $30 I want that deal... dealer cost is more than that... unless they have changed pricing. Insert for the big muley is $130 ish... going off memory on that. I can tell you our first muley (we have 2 of them) still has its original insert (and we have a spare) and it is 5 years old. Figure 5 shoots a year with about 100 shooters each shoot. Well worth the money compared to our old delta and mackenzies... plus so much nicer to shoot and pull arrows.

Rineharts are the best hands down. I just disagree that replacing the rineharts vitals is cheaper then replacing the vitals or mid sections of the delta or mckenzies.

Ahhh the older ones you had to replace the whole center section of the animal.. not just an insert... interesting! Thanks for the link.... the older ones for a center section cost more than a Rinehart insert... not the new ones though! We concentrated on all new targets to be Rinehart so never looked at newer deltas.

Happy to share my amazing deals with everyone :chuckle: Don't know if anyone in your club spends much time on ebay. I buy a lot of stuff on there and save a lot of money doing so.
Like these 2. These are what you are talking about and they are still a bit cheaper or about the same as the rinehart replacement vitals. Don't know if you guys could use them but wanted to show you that they can be found and still be a little cheaper. Are they better then the rineharts NO! but they are still good targets.

Well the one problem i have with the McKenzies is that we have a bunch of good heads and rumps but everytime we change out a mid section, we end up with stripped deer. We have used some Latex paint to touch them up, but that only seems to last a year or 2 and then you back to shooting at crappy looking targets

Rhineharts are the best, Easy arrow removal, last a lot longer and Rhineharts look better, not cheap though.
I personally have a cabela's 3D Deer, I bought an extra insert when I first got it, Its about 4yrs old and still going strong on the first insert, mainly because I shoot the clubs 3D targets 95% of the time and only use mine during camping season and to make sure my broadheads are still flying good right before hunting season starts.
I had a Rhinehart 18-1 and someone thought they needed it more than me so they jacked it out of the bed of my truck :bash:

Yeah they do fade out and get a little nasty a lot faster then the rineharts. The18-1 cannot be beat in any way for a broadhead target!!!
