Home at last what a trip. Then got sat down and my boy called saying our 60 foot crab boat was sinking he had 100 pots on it and tossed them over and started pumping and it slowly started coming up the whole stern was under water. The problem was one of the crew was in the lazerette a 3 foot round hole in the deck with hatch cover you use to get down into the boats steering system and had;nt lathed it tite and with the rough ocean and pots on deck water spilled into it making the stern go under. Then off to Michell with the head and hide to find the cape was no good they had started to shed so she is trying to find a cape for us. After taking a nap I will finish the story but it was big.

BIG Bison Bull!
-
Isn't that sort of redundant. Big Bison Bull. :chuckle:
Looking forward to the story!

We drove over to St Ignatious to meet up with Steve the buffalo guide for Dale and then off to the ranch. Before the story I would like to thank Dale at Bearpaw outfitters for helping us and for going that extra mile to make sure his hunters enjoy his hunts. Dale set us up the year before and we were to shoot a big bull somewhere between us not knowing how big is big we shot a meat bull it looked big to us but it was;nt what we had payed for. Dale did;nt feel that was right so offered us to go on another hunt for a big bull at no charge and we could keep the head and hide and half the meat it was an unreal offer and just showed us again what Dale and Bearpaw outfitters all about. My boy was toshoot one with his bow and the guide told us they had about 150 shot with a bow and he was;nt to keen on sticks so wanted us to have a rifle for back up. We worked around the herd of about i50 with 7 big bulls in until we could get lined up on the one we wanted. When the bull got clear my boy shot at 40 yards and made a perfect double lung shot and the bull lowered himseld to the ground and we asked should we shoot it again and he said he is down but you can if you want to and the second arrow hit less than 1 inch from the first and he was done. They said it was the first time they had ever seen one go down like that . I have some pictures I will post and both arrows went through to stick out the other side he was shooting a matthews set at 70 pounds with 340 grain arrows and 100 grain 3 blade muzzeys.

Sounds like a good trip Del  Can't wait for the pics.. Was there much damage to the boat??

No Tony things were okay just a wake up call to make sure and check everything. Having trouble posting pictures for some reason but Michelle did a rough score on it and it scored 106 thats 6 inches over pope and young not that it means anmore than this one was big they measured it from tip of nose to end of legs and it was 14 feet long.
-
Great news on the boat
14 feet long on that bull?? :yike: He's a foot shorter than the Lady Becky :yike:

The following text and images are from Del (Buckhorn2). He was unable to post the pictures from his computers and asked for assistance. WHAT A MONSTER. From Del:
Bison my boy shot with a bow with Bearpaw.
It was really big I don;t know how much but he shot it at 40 yards with a bow and the buffalo rancher said he never saw one go down like that and they had shot like 150 with bows there. It went down after about 1 minute to its knees and he shot again the arrows hit about 1 inch apart he was using a matthews 7 set at 70 pounds with 100 grain 3 blade muzzys. The head was big we took it to michelle and she rough scored it and it makes book by 6 or more inches.
-
Very, VEry, VERy, VERY nice... Congrats to the hunters and great job Bearpaw.
-

-

-
Wow! 100 gr. Muzzy dropped him that quickly...amazing :IBCOOL: congrats on a great hunt!
-
Great looking buff! Is he going to put it in SCI?
-
It was on a ranch hunt so I don;t know if there not free ranging if they can be intered or not sure had a big head.
-
Yes, it can be entered in SCI if it was large enough.
-
Dale I took it to Michell she said she rough scored it at 106 and it has to be 100 to enter. Thanks Dale for what you did for us it was above and beyond any of or expectations and Steve was great. We will be back grandson is already bugging me about turkey.
-

SCI yes; no to Boone & Crockett.
-
A definite whopper, very happy for you and your son.
-
Great job!
-
Nice head on that Bull.. If you do not mind what was the diameter of the base of those horns, curious is all, as never had my Kids measured to see how big it was and they look really close in size..
-
At the base of the horn I believe it was 12 1/2". Outside length was 16". Tip to tip Spread was 24 1/2". Outside measurments was around 28"
-
Huge bull! Outstanding. Congratulations!
-
Congrats!!!! Great bull!!!
-
Pope and young and Boone and Crockett it can't be entered. SCI it can be entered that's why I was wondering. If he joins sci he can put it in the record books.
They all have different minimums as well. SCI has a different method of scoring, after it shrinks he can find a scorer in his area. The minimum for bow is 46" the top 10 in the world go from 70 5/7" to 77 1/8"

So for an SCI Score you only need the length of each horn and the circumferance? You don't need any tip to tip measurments or width measurments. So the horns can be pulled off the skull?

Looking at the score sheet it appears you need circumference measurements of each horn base and the length f each horn, accompanied by a photo. I think the photo would probably be best of the horns on the skull.
I don't know for sure, but I see nothing that says a taxidermist cannot proceed with cleaning the skull. It appears the horns could be put back on the skull for the photo and measured after whatever drying period they require.
Do you know an official scorer you can call, or do you need me to call one?

Charlie/bucklucky is one. I am sure he can do it for them. If he is a member of sci it free, not sure if you are not a member if there is a fee. I know charlie is one because I took my bear that Michelle has over to him to have it scored for sci books.

Wow, just measured the kids Bison, 13" bases, 25" inside spread, 19" length and outside was 28"- done with a seamstress type tape, so it is not perfect for sure.......
