Here is a nice blacktail I just finished up for a customer, real simple mount . Basic semi sneak with some headwork done. Kept the detail light on this one, I was looking for a good soft look.
-
Very nice! I like the "soft look".
-
good work charlie
-
Nice work! That's Jon's buck right?
-
It sure is Jons buck!

It sure is Jons buck!
I guess I could have figured that out by the picture titles... :chuckle:
-
Nice looking mount! I like the rich chocolaty coloration of the antlers those blacktails sport.
Not to hijack the thread, but a question.... is it typical for blacktail deer to have small to almost none existent brow tines? Honest question as obviously we don't have the species in Texas! All the pictures and few examples I've seen out West seem to have rather small tines. :dunno:

Depends on your definition of small. Three inch eyeguards are pretty good for blacktails, though I have seen larger. But then again, lots of BTs have only one or none at all. Definately not large like whitetails.

And a buck of this size is well-worthy of a shoulder mount. Many guys hunt a long, long time to take a buck like this near perfect 3x3. Not huge, but a very nice representative of the species.
Nicely work, Charlie. Looks great!

wow, thats a great mount. I might not have been able to tell the difference from a real one, had it not been attached to a wall. :IBCOOL:
-
Looks great, don't see the ears turned at the different angles very often, gives it a real feel and look. Very Nice!
